Republicans Are Bad, but Democrats Are Worse
 Diane Alden
 August 4, 2000

The reason I will vote for Republicans this fall is because the
alternative is
not only worse, it is dangerous. Perhaps that is not a principled Stand,
but it
is the best I can do. Since the country cannot survive four years of Al
Gore
and the consequences he would bring down on American heads with his
statist-
collectivist agenda, there is not much choice. You can vote for Ralph
Nader or
Pat Buchanan or Harry Browne, but realistically none of them has a chance.

If Al Gore were elected because of a split vote, the divisiveness of
extreme
leftist-collectivist Big Brotherism would kill America. This country is so
polarized now that it will take a gifted leader or leaders to put it back
 together again.

There is no doubt in my mind that if Gore gets in and the Democrats take
over
one or both houses of Congress, the Republic, what is left of it, will be
 finished. We are not talking partisan, Democrat versus Republican, here;
we are
talking about the fate of the Republic. Unfortunately, the fascist left
now
controls the once great and good Democratic Party.

Oh, life will go on in the United States, but there will come a day when
we
will wake up and we will not have the country where liberty lives. The
Bill of
Rights for all intents and purposes will cease to exist. We will no longer
be a
Republic; we will be a mob-ocracy with benevolent dictators at the helm
and an
emasculated and frightened opposition incapable of preventing the worst
abuses
in the growing trend toward a corporate police state.

If Bush is elected and the Republicans keep both houses of Congress,
perhaps we
will have breathing room to develop a long-term answer to the growth of
the
state and its abuse of power. His election will only give us breathing
room -
that is all it will do.

What is worrisome is the talk from the Bush-Cheney camp that in a future
Bush
administration the Republicans will reach across the aisle to the
Democrats. A
bipartisan group hug will be in order to do the people's business.

The people's business, however, requires only one thing - for government
to get
out of the way and to re-establish the Bill of Rights and the Constitution
as
the law of the land. The Republicans don't need to reach across the aisle.
They
have been there and done that and compromised every single principle they
stood
for. They fail to realize that the Democrats fight a war in which there is
no
compromise. The sole option they offer is total agreement to growing
government
 and restraining or ending liberty.

The only reaching across the aisle Republicans need to do is to yank the
rug
out from under the statist Democrats and their Republican fellow
travelers.
One must ask the question, what could possibly make any self-respecting,
conservative Republican become so totally obsessed with power, image or
the
shallow approval of the media or the left that it sells its conservative
soul.

Politicians on the left do not care about conservative concerns, nor do
they
intend to compromise on any issue. They understand that it is an
ideological
war they are fighting, and its only conclusion is the obliteration and
unconditional surrender of the other side. They are good at it. The last
couple
of years in Congress, Democrats - along with the Clinton administration -
have
shown they are good at winning political warfare. Their agenda, with few
exceptions, has been passed and funded.

Yet the Republicans still haven't figured out this is a war, and they
scratch
their heads hoping no one will notice and criticize them for not being
quick
 enough with the

Mike,
I happen to agree with you...
THIS will be the first year in 30 years of voting eligibility that I won't
even bother to go to the poll this year. Neither man running on the main
tickets, or otherwise, are worthy of the office they seek... nor are they
worthy of my vote.

Election before last, I took the stand of ' the lesser of the three evils
' and the monkey wrench running, threw Clinton into office. (choke!
gag!) Clinton's first bill signed as president was the long term partial
abortion issue, on my birthday, no less... I was sickened by this, and
this man and his wife, and his admin from the get-go. Many tears did not
change the vote, nor did my vote in the next election matter, for the
people are blinded to righteous government and choose rather to be ruled and
represented to the world by a fool, fornicator, murderer and a liar...
WYSIWYG.
What you see is what you get.

Therefore, WHY should I bother to go out to the polls this time... ???
This election has not grabbed much of my attention at all.
I'm to the point, of "so what?" and "WHO?" Oh well
As the subject matter says, it's only going to be from bad to worse,
no matter who is elected this time. America is reaping what she's sown,
and him/them who she's elected as king(s).

Biblically speaking, we can see the end results of Ahab and Jezebel...
History has a tendency to repeat itself.
Ahab tried to change history. He put himself, as a hypocrit, and played the
role of a priest, i.e. righteous man, in the midst of a battle, and was
still recognized and assasinated with an arrow through his shoulder blades
from the back, and was left to bleed all over his chariot. Jezebel, ahhh
Jezebel, well, she earned the title of harlot, resurrected in Revelation
chapter 2, but when she died, the people threw her body to the dogs of the
streets, and her bones were scattered, never to be buried with honor.

These people running for office, don't know when to quit, in honor.
Righteousness and true justice in the presidency of this country,
is a thing of the past for America.
Sad to say. :-((

Shays Reveals Details of Clinton's 'Horrific' Broaddrick Rape

Arkansas nursing home operator Juanita Broaddrick told impeachment
investigators she was raped not once but twice by Bill Clinton during a
brutal attack in a Little Rock hotel room 22 years ago, Connecticut
  Congressman Christopher Shays revealed Wednesday.

Shays was one of forty moderate congressional Republicans to visit the
Ford Building evidence room during the House impeachment probe, where
Broaddrick's accusation and documentation of other alleged Clinton
crimes were made available for review.

Five days after Clinton was impeached by the House, Shays told the New
York Times that the evidence was, "very alarming and very unsettling,"
involving, "conduct by the president that is alleged to be pretty
  horrific."

In his comments to the Times Shays made no mention of the second attack
  on Broaddrick.

But when asked about the Ford Building evidence on Wednesday by WELI New
Haven talk-radio host Tom Scott, Shays replied, "I believed that he had
done it. I believed her that she had been raped 20 years ago. And it
was vicious rapes, it was twice at the same event."

When Scott asked Shays if he believes the president is a rapist, the
congressman replied, "I would like not to say it that way.
But the bottom line is that I believe that he did rape Broaddrick."

Shays comments to Scott were first reported by National Review Online
  late Wednesday.

The reactions of other House members who viewed the evidence at the time
suggested that Clinton's assault on Broaddrick was more disturbing than
what has been reported in the press since.

Just days after the impeachment vote Arizona Rep. Matt Salmon told the
Arizona Republic that what he saw in the Ford Building left him
"nauseated." Delaware Rep. Mike Castle was reduced to tears, according
  to CNBC's Chris Matthews.

The shocking presidential rape evidence briefly moved Shays into the
pro-impeachment column, he told the Times after the vote. But a personal
meeting with Clinton, Shays said, changed his mind.

Not a single U.S. Senator viewed the Ford Building evidence before
voting to acquit Clinton on two articles of impeachment.

In 1999, Georgia Congressman Bob Barr told NewsMax.com that the Ford
Building materials would remain sealed unless the American people
  demanded their release.

[CTRL] Falling sea level upsets theory of global warming

2000-08-06 Thread Carl Amedio

Falling sea level upsets theory of global warming
By Mark Chipperfield in Tuvalu and David Harrison in Londo

THE 11,000 inhabitants of a tiny Pacific country that was predicted to
vanish under water because of the effects of global warming have been given a
reprieve because sea levels have begun to fall.

In the early 1990s, scientists forecast that the coral atoll of nine islands
- which is only 12ft above sea level at its highest point - would vanish
within decades because the sea was rising by up to 1.5in a year. However, a
new study has found that sea levels have since fallen by nearly 2.5in and
experts at Tuvalu's Meteorological Service in Funafuti, the islands'
administrative centre, said this meant they would survive for another 100
years.

They said similar sea level falls had been recorded in Nauru and the Solomon
Islands, which were also considered to be under threat. The release of the
data from Tuvalu, formerly part of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands, will renew
scientific debate about climate change and its impact on ocean levels. The
island's scientists admitted they were surprised and "a little embarrassed"
by the change, which they blame on unusual weather conditions caused by El
Niño in 1997.

Hilia Vavae, the Metereological Service's director, said: "This is certainly
a bit of a shock for us because we have been experiencing the effect of
rising oceans for a long time." Although their country has been saved from
imminent engulfment, not all islanders are happy about the change in Tuvalu's
fortunes. Residents who once worried about their homes being flooded are now
complaining that the lower tides are disrupting their fishing expeditions,
making it difficult to moor their boats and navigate low-lying reefs.

However, scientists both on and off the island believe such concerns will be
short term because the sea level falls are coming to an end and the oceans
will soon resume their inexorable rise. The Tuvalu government, a vocal critic
of the industrialised world at environmental conferences in Tokyo and Rio de
Janeiro, has said that the result of its research is a "blip" and it is
expected to make climate change a major issue when it joins the United
Nations next month.

Low-lying coral islands such as Tuvalu and the Maldives are among the
countries most vulnerable to rising sea levels. Most of the world's leading
scientists agree that the earth is warming up, caused by carbon dioxide
emissions from petrol and the burning of coal.

Last month a study by Nasa, the US space agency, found that sea levels were
being pushed up by the addition of 50 billion tons of water a year from
Greenland's melting ice sheet. Professor Patrick Nunn, head of geography at
the University of the South Pacific in Fiji and an expert on island
formation, said last week that the figures from Tuvalu, Papua New Guinea and
the Solomons were based on inadequate research.

He said: "It is a nonsense to try to make predictions about climate change
from a data base of only seven years. You need data over a minimum period of
at least 30 years. A lot of these sea gauges have been slowly falling over
the last five years but that is a short-term trend. Island countries such as
Kiribati and Tuvalu remain incredibly vulnerable to sea change. These
low-lying islands are between 2,000 and 3,000 years old. They only formed
because sea levels fell, allowing a build up of sand and gravel. Now it could
go the other way."

Ms Vavae is also pessimistic about the future of her country, which last year
signed a £34 million deal to license its domain name - tv.com - to an
American internet company. She said: "There is no doubt about the impact of
climate change on Tuvalu. We already have difficulty planting traditional
crops. We've seen more frequent tropical cyclones, more severe droughts and
alarming sea level heights during spring tides.

"We are still facing the daunting prospect of being one of the first
countries to be submerged by sea-level rises related to climate change."

used by the wrong people.

I bungled onto this in 1968 - a bible communicaton/code keyed date wise

some call this evil force a satanic force.

A force of good and a force of evil - and it is always the evil ones who
win unless you fight fire with fire.

But remember the line "I am the Alpha and Omega.the Bright and
Morning Star".and consider Lucipher was kicked out of heaven, or was
it the Garden of Eden.it was Christ nailed to the cross, not
Lucipher.

Too late Christ said sell your coat and getta gun.so you see this is
why it is important America be disarmed - look to Australia and see how
Unions turned on their members and how this one guy formed first CFR
Unit in Israel

This is not King Arthur's Camelot - a dream of JFKthis is Walter

Tower of Babel..controlled - everything organized and controlled -
the voice of silence, or voice of the turtle now is heard in the land?

So Clinton says :let them get the first shot - he awaited that first
shot and it never happened did it.oh we had Klebold and Harris, two
brainwashed kids programmed to kill for you see they go after the kids
now - new wine cannot be put into old bottlesthey would kill them
with homosexual love - AIDS for all..most important since 1950 the
Pentagon then led by Eisenhower (note how quickly Patton was killed) who
made it his job to put Pentagon into "absorbing black race".then
Korea put hold on this, and I know this to be true - in absorbing black

Secrets of the Bible? It is all there for you as Reagan would say,
there they go again..They are here - Queen Victoria once had an

Masonic revenge? Because DeMolay was burnt at stake? No, Hitler kicked
masons out of German and rounded them all up and then he got the
Rosicrucians of the day saying they were all English Secret Service.

Good spies know all the secrets of all secret societies and you find
them too, in the Bible.

This is not New World Order - its the same old crap..World
Dictatorshp only now not by divine right, but by busines end of gun -
but this gun - well James Bond had one that when fired, shot backfired?

You are right Mike..the bible knows all and tells all if you read
between the lines and update he scenes of the crime..

Henry Kissinger, one if not the most hated man in the worldthis ugly
man survived.did you see him at Republican Convention - the evil
like picture of Dorian Grey is not hiddenthe man who would corner
the market on foodwhile people starve and children are slaughtered -
he sits at a table and his cup runneth over.and he would deny the
children the crumbs at his feet.

Evil is as evil doesbut wait, the day comes when the true Bright
and Morningstar will take his rightful place in spirit - and then you
will know what is the meaning over the hallowed halls of the CIA
"You Shall Know the Truth and the Truth Shall Set You Free""

Let them blot those words out of the book as they have blotted people

GOVERNMENT CRUMBLING BEFORE BARAK'S EYES: Several more blows were dealt to
the sickly Barak coalition this past week. Barak narrowly survived a
no-confidence motion Monday. The vote came on the last day of the
Knesset's summer session. The vote was 50 for and 50 against, with 8
abstentions and 12 absences. A majority of 61 votes are needed to pass.
Foreign Minister David Levy resigned Wednesday. Earlier Monday, Barak's
candidate for president, former Prime Minister Shimon Peres, lost in a
stunning parliamentary vote upset to a little-known opposition lawmaker.
The victory of Iranian-born Moshe Katsav of the opposition Likud Party
spelled a humiliating blow to Barak.

At Sunday's weekly cabinet meeting, Barak announced that after the
collapse of the Camp David talks, his government would now concentrate on
educational, health and welfare issues. The Likud scoffed at the new
government agenda, saying: "More than one year after he was elected, Prime
Minister Barak has just remembered that the State of Israel has social
problems, which Barak completely ignored despite the fact that he was
elected to solve them."

KATSAV ELECTED NEW ISRAELI PRESIDENT: Mild-mannered Persian Jewish
immigrant Moshe Katsav was sworn in Tuesday evening as Israel's eight
President and pledged to avoid getting involved in political infighting
during his seven-year term. Born in Iran, Katsav, 55, immigrated in 1951
and started out in a tent camp before taking up residence in Kiryat
Malachi, a development town in the south, where he became the youngest
Israeli mayor ever at age 24. Katsav, who has a bachelor's degree from
Hebrew University, was first elected to the Knesset in 1977. He has served
as labor, transportation, and tourism minister, and was a deputy prime
minister under Binyamin Netanyahu's government from 1996-1999. He is
respected by Israel's large Sephardic community as an observant Jew, and
has developed ties to the Israeli Arab community as well. For the first
time, a member of a party other than Labor has won the Presidency. For the
first time, a man of sfardi origin has won the Presidency. For the first
time a religious Jew has won the Presidency.

Shimon Peres lost the election. Peres is, in the words of one Israeli
columnist, "the greatest Prime Minister never elected." Indeed, Peres
never won a vote in his life. So, perhaps it is fitting that Peres, who
has been implicated in every major Israeli scandal over the past 20 years,
from Irangate, to Pollard, to the Rabin assassination, should lose yet
again. One more loss to end his illustrious career.

ARUTZ-7 correspondent Yedidya Atlas reports, based on sources close to
both the Clinton Administration and to Hilary Clinton's Senatorial
campaign in New York State, that the Clintons were "shocked and dismayed"
by the news of Peres' loss. Both Mr. and Mrs. Clinton had been relying on
a President Peres to promote their respective agendas, say the sources,
including the American plan for the division of Jerusalem and improving
Hilary's lagging support among Jewish New York voters.

CLINTON'S TRICKS BACKFIRE: In attempting to 'appease' Israel, US President
Clinton recently stated that he wanted to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem
[see TNS, 29 July 2000/26 Tammuz 5760]. However, this past week, his
statements had serious repercussions around the globe. The head of the
Arab League called Clinton's remarks "strange." The editors of the CHICAGO
TRIBUNE referred to the President's suggestion as "reckless" (CHICAGO
TRIBUNE, 1 August 2000). On Monday Egypt indicated that moving the embassy
would have "negative effects" on the peace process. Lebanon's
Iranian-backed Hizb'Allah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah threatened Sunday
to destroy the US embassy in Israel and kill its diplomats if the mission
was moved to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv.

It was only last June (2000) that Clinton, for the third time, ordered a

A FREE PRESS COSTS REPUBLICANS
"Balance," to the national media, is three
sniveling liberals shouting down a conservative. But,
finally, the people are catching on and starting to protest.
Somewhat of a protest started last weekend.
One closet-conservative producer admitted
privately that he received over one-hundred complaints
about how the people on his program handled the subject of
Dick Cheney and G.W. Bush last weekend.
Vice President apparent Dick Cheney managed
to get himself on most of the shout shows last Sunday and
there was an interesting change of attitudes: Generally
speaking, Cheney's adult-style executive approach had a
calming effect on the hair-spray set and he tended to make
these "journalists" come off like somewhat polite people.
Even Sam Donaldson had to retract a couple of his (normally)
stupid questions and sounded like he was actually ready to
formally apologize for his silliness a couple times.
Clearly, Cheney had an effect on the talking heads neither
Clinton or Gore could never pull off. Cheney deserved, and
received, respect.
In fairness, all the media people were allowed
to talk about with Cheney were the talking points given
them by the White House war room. Therefore, all lost a
grand opportunity for a meaningful interview.
It seems that, while a Congressman, Cheney
voted to allow "plastic" guns into the country. I remember
that vote quite well because, at that time, I was already
practicing with my "plastic" Glock pistol and found it good.
And, as a matter of fact, I still own that very same handgun.
But, still today, the professional media whiners
do not seem to know that the original debate was about what
is now one of the most popular handguns for police work in
the country. Instead of doing their homework before
babbling on, they all ran with the White House provided
talking points.
It's the same with the "cop killer" bullets.
That was a scam, too. And, besides, no one would buy those
things anymore, anyway. There is much better ammunition
available in any gun store at a much lower price.
Bringing up Cheney's Nelson Mandela vote
was just as much of a sham. Mandela was the leader of a
communist-terrorist group that was trying to overthrow the
government of South Africa. While he was in jail, his wife
took over the group. And we know they were terrorists.
Anyone remember necklacing?
On the distaff side was Dr. Lynne Cheney,
interviewed by Washington brat Cokie Roberts. Well, let's
face it, folks . . . Cokie Roberts is not one of the brightest
lights in town and Dr. Cheney is. So, Cokie got her
comeuppance more than just once.
Cokie somehow forgot her far-left roots and
started in on the Cheney family -- namely the sexual
orientation of one of their daughters. It's interesting
how that works: Normal folks are not supposed to bring
that stuff up anymore -- not even in private conversation --
but the liberals can. And on national television, no less!
Yet, will Cokie dare report the fact that a
Gore kid was booted out of a private school for possessing
and using illegal drugs on campus? Fat chance! Nor would
she ask the burning question: What was the Secret Service
doing while this kid was getting high right in front of
them?
Suffice to say, give us a chance to interview Dick
and Lynne Cheney and we would have had a whole list of
pertinent questions to ask. Our questions, however, would
have concerned the direction the ship of state is to be
steered over these next four years. What most people want
to know concerns their own personal freedom, taxes, how
best to trim back government interference in our lives, etc.
There is not one of us out here who can benefit one iota
from knowing the personal proclivities of the Cheneys'
daughters. And, to be truthful about it, it's none of our
damn business anyway. Lowering taxes and getting rid of
some of those obnoxious regulators would win our approval
every time, though. That's what needs discussion.
(But, perhaps that is exactly why I am not a
journalist.)
The CNN journalist's forum also had major egg
on their collective faces last weekend. Howard Kurtz was
moderating a talk on "Reliable Sources" about how the
Washington press corps milk insignificant "news" into a
story when CNN broke in for what was called an "urgent"
event: John McCain's campaign bus arrived at his hotel in
Philadelphia. "Another historic moment in Philadelphia,"
Kurtz said.
Sure. Like anyone except McCain's core of
supporters in the media cares. And, even McCain's media
support is a scam on the Republican Party.
What is not said -- ever -- is that the far-left
national media support John McCain because, were he elected
president or chosen vice-president, it would positively ruin
the Republican Party for many years to come. The far-left,
of course wants that. So, they play their games.

GUN BANNERS POUND ON THE TABLE: There is a joke among lawyers: "When the
facts are against you, argue the law; when the law is against you, argue the
facts; when both the facts and the law are against you, pound on the table."
Which is why we see quite a bit of table-pounding from the gun control crowd.
They hope that if they are shrill enough, shamelessly exploiting occasional
tragedy to whip up hysteria, they will be able to hide the reality that the
facts, the Constitution, and logic, are against them. And their shrill
table-pounding is accompanied by a liberal dose of statistical slight-of-hand
and disinformation. Gun banners love to selectively compare the United States
with foreign nations, hoping for the day when the U.S. will follow the lead
of countries like Great Britain, Australia, and Canada in virtually outlawing
privately owned firearms. They conveniently ignore countries like
Switzerland, where shooting clubs proliferate, assault weapons are kept in
virtually every home, and yet where gun-crimes are extremely rare. The latest
comparison touted by the gun ban crowd is with Australia. Following a
particularly egregious shooting in 1996, Australia enacted draconian gun ban
laws, and according to Handgun Control, the restrictions have been a total
success in reducing crime.

The HCI line: ". if you're an American who has seen the infamous NRA
infomercial, you may think that Australia also has a surging crime rate.
About 660,000 firearms were handed in to the government in return for more
than 400 million Australian dollars, financed by a one-time add-on to the
income tax. And in 1998, the rate at which firearms were used in murder,
attempted murder, assault, sexual assault and armed robbery went down. In
that year, the last for which statistics are available, the number of murders
involving a firearm declined to its lowest point in four years."

The facts: Note the clever qualifications. According to an analysis by the
Australian Institute of Criminology, the rate in which guns were used in
various violent crimes has been declining steadily since 1991, 5 years before
the new gun bans were enacted, from 634 per 100,000 in 1991 to 480 per
100,000 in 1995. The decline touted by HCI had nothing to do with gun bans,
but was merely the continuation of an ongoing trend. In addition, the
implication of HCI's statement is that the overall rate of violent crime has
declined. In fact, all they are really discussing are "the number of murders
involving a firearm". The HCI website goes on to advise, "The next time a
credulous friend or acquaintance tells you that Australia actually suffered
more crime when they got tougher on guns...offer him a Foster's, and tell him
the facts." Right. Here are the facts, from the Australian Bureau of
Statistics: "While the use of firearms decreased or remained steady for most
offences in 1998, the use of other weapons in the commission of offences
increased for all offences.with the exception of murder." Those other
offenses included assault, sexual assault, kidnapping, and armed robbery, in
which gun use has declined while the use of other weapons has increased.

The Center to Prevent Handgun Violence (CPHV) touts a "Firearms Facts" page
containing the following: "In 1997, there were only 190 justifiable handgun
homicides by private citizens in the United States." Which only proves, if it
proves anything, that private handgun owners are extraordinarily cautious
about discharging a weapon to deter a crime. The vast majority of crimes
deterred by private people with guns do not involve shooting, let alone
killing, the would-be criminal perpetrator. Also excluded from CPHV's
carefully limited (handguns only) statistic are the times shotguns or long
guns were used to deter crime. Left unstated is the real story, from a 1994
report by the Clinton-Reno "Justice" Department: "On average in 1987-92 about
83,000 crime victims per year used a firearm to defend themselves or their
property." And a 1997 study from the National Institute of Justice of the
U.S. Justice Department concluded, "On the basis of data from the Bureau of
Justice Statistics' National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) data, one
would conclude that defensive uses are rare indeed, about 108,000 per year."
The NIJ may deem 108,000 crimes deterred every year "rare", but that's quite
a bit more than the CPHV's "190 justifiable handgun homicides".

More from the Center to Prevent Handgun Violence "Firearms Facts" page: "In
1994, the firearm injury death rate among males 15-24 years of age was 32%
higher than the motor vehicle traffic injury death rate." Why the CPHV
decided to limit their statistics to males (don't females count?) is unclear,
but this so-called fact is more of the same sort of slippery selectivity.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, deaths associated with

Canada could be the Saudi Arabia of 2025
due to our wealth of water in a thirsty world
ALANNA MITCHELL
The Globe and Mail
Saturday, August 5, 2000

Toronto -- A three part series on the poisoning and waste threatening
water, the life blood of the earth

Scientists predict Canada could be a water superpower within 25 years
when it becomes one of the few countries in the world with enough
fresh water.

Evidence collected at leading international research institutes shows
that the world's store of fresh water could run dry faster than
expected.

Because of that, and because Canada is home to roughly 40 per cent of
the Earth's store of fresh water, experts say that Canada could
become the Saudi Arabia of water.

"Water could become an export commodity like oil," said Kevin Hall,
the scientific director of the Centre for Water and the Environment
at Queen's University in Kingston, Ont.

"There's no doubt people are going to be short of water and they're
going to be looking at us," he added.

John Briscoe, senior water adviser at the World Bank, is blunt when
he describes the looming water shortage: Unless people learn to use
water more efficiently, there won't be enough fresh water to sustain
the Earth's population.

"If nothing happens, the situation is really quite terrifying," he
said in an interview from Washington. "Without innovation, you're
dead."

But Mr. Briscoe also believes that solutions exist, if society takes
the problem seriously.

The coming water crisis is partly driven by population growth. But
even more, it stems from a spirited overuse of the Earth's fresh
water for agriculture, industry and all sorts of uses that turn good
water bad.

It is not even about having safe water to drink, but about having
enough to go around.

Numbers abound about how dire the shortage will be. The Sri Lanka-
based International Water Management Institute projected earlier this
year that by 2025, only about a quarter of the world's population,
including Canada, with its rivers, lakes and aquifers, will have
enough fresh water.

Roughly a third of the world's population will have too little water
to meet their needs. That includes people in Pakistan, Syria, Egypt,
Israel, South Africa and half of India and China. This figure even
takes into account that these countries will learn to use water more
efficiently over time.

As well, about 40 per cent of the world's people will experience
serious financial and development problems in their quest to find the
increased amounts of water required. Among those countries are
Brazil, Mexico, Australia, Nigeria and Turkey, as well as large parts
of India and China.

In fact, even those frightening projections may underestimate the
problem, said Jim Bruce, the vice-chairman of the Winnipeg-based
International Institute for Sustainable Development and a world
expert on water.

Most scenarios don't take into account the effects of global warming
on the amount of fresh water the Earth holds, he said. When that's
taken into account, even such water-rich countries as the United
States and Canada may be in for some trouble.

"I think we're going to have to do some fast footwork on the prairies
if the models are correct," Mr. Bruce said.

From the point of view of the World Bank's Dr. Briscoe, a big part of
the solution is to make the cost of water reflect its value. Now,
people use it virtually for free.

"It's really not managed in any vaguely scientific way because it's
so cheap," he said. "People just pour it on."

He added that water is also bound to become more expensive.

"Once you get market forces operating, efficiency will come," Dr.
Briscoe said.

Canadians, for example, are among the most nonchalant users of water
in the world. The average Canadian household uses about 500,000
litres a year, but almost half is wasted in washing cars or leaving
taps to drip, Dr. Hall said.

The average daily domestic use in Canada is 326 litres per person. In
France, by contrast, it's less than half of that at 150 litres.

Mr. Bruce, the Canadian water expert, noted that most parts of Canada
don't even put meters on domestic water use.

"There are all sorts of signals in the marketplace that water is not
important," he said. "So we use it very profligately."

Governments are just as unthinking about fresh-water supplies. The
report last week from Ontario's Environmental Commissioner on the
state of Ontario's groundwater was damning.

Canada's most populous province has no strategy to protect
groundwater, no publicly accessible inventory of it and no long-term
method of determining the effects of groundwater use on the health of
the ecosystem.

The experts agree that these attitudes toward water must change. In
fact, they can already see signs that people are recognizing the
value of water.

Consider, for a moment, that a 500-millilitre bottle of spring water
sells at a corner store these days for about three

"Gun Owners of America is the pit bull of the Second Amendment.
They are relentless and never give any ground whatsoever to the
gun grabbers." --Rep. John Hostettler (R-IN), July 2000

(Friday, August 4, 2000) -- This has been a hard-fought year. You
have helped us to fight (and win) several battles. And quite
frankly, gun owners have done as well as anyone could expect
considering the obstacles we have faced in the White House.

Below, you will find a list of victories that you have helped to
bring about. But first, a quick wrap-up of the final days before
Congress recessed last week.

Pro-gun Language Dies In Conference

Rep. Virgil Goode (I-VA) succeeded in getting a pro-gun amendment
stuck into the House version of the Treasury-Postal funding bill.
The Goode provision would keep the Treasury Department from giving
any preference towards Smith Wesson when the agency buys service
revolvers for its agents.

On the Senate side, Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL) stuck a similar
amendment into the bill. But what should have then been a pro-gun
coup resulted in disaster when the pro-gun language was stripped
out of the bill in a conference committee -- apparently because
moderate Republicans did not want to give President Clinton a reason
for vetoing an appropriations bill.

Anti-gun Amendments Expected Next Month

Gun owners will be faced with renewed attacks upon the 2nd Amendment
when the Senate returns for action in September. The Democrats have
made it clear that they plan to use delaying tactics to slow down
the appropriation bills, unless they are allowed to offer anti-gun
amendments to those bills.

This is, of course, how some of the worst anti-gun legislation was
enacted in the recent past. You will remember that the Lautenberg
gun ban (disarming millions for misdemeanor infractions) and the
Kohl gun free school zone ban were both added onto appropriation
bills in September 1996.

On a positive note, Sen. Bob Smith (R-NH) could offer pro-gun
amendments to the upcoming spending bills. As the
Commerce-Justice-State bill did not come up before the recess, his
amendment to alter current law to require the "immediate
destruction" of gun buyers' records will have to wait until
September.

ACTION: Continue to register your support for the Smith amendment.
Call 202-224-3121 or toll-free at 1-888-449-3511. A pre-written
letter is included at http://www.gunowners.org/activism.htm --
simply plug in your zipcode and select your Senators as recipients.

Finally, for some encouragement, here are some of the victories
that we have accomplished together this year.

Highlights From The First Half Of 2000

Feb 02 Gun activists quickly respond to GOA's call to action from
the night before. The issue concerns an anti-gun amendment
offered by Senators Levin (D-MI) and Schumer (D-NY) that
would help the cities bringing suit against gun makers. The
Levin amendment prevents gun makers from declaring
legitimate bankruptcy, and thus, discharging any enormous
judgments that result from frivolous lawsuits. The
amendment failed 68-29.

Mar 01 Sen. Boxer (D-CA) attacks GOA for refusing to compromise
and for opposing firearms restrictions. Boxer's amendment
instructing House-Senate conferees to finish its work on the
anti-gun juvenile bill fails on a tie vote.

Mar 03 GOA responds to Sen. Hatch (R-UT) who has publicly stated
he will support a juvenile crime bill containing certain
gun control provisions. GOA begins an intense grassroots
campaign to help the Senator "see the light."

Mar 07 President Clinton laments the fact that Sen. Hatch has now
changed his tune. Now that progress on the juvenile crime
bill is moving slow, the President notes that "there's so
much pressure on Senator Hatch not to call a [conference]
meeting."

Mar 15 Gun control proponents sink to a new low, as gun activists
help generate more than 20 new pro-gun votes in the House of
Representatives. Last September, Rep. Lofgren (D-CA) had
offered a motion to instruct the crime bill conferees to
move the bill out of committee. That anti-gun motion had
passed with 241 votes. But after months and months of
grassroots pressure, Lofgren could only muster 218 votes
(a 51% majority) on March 15, 2000. While gunnies still
lost this vote, the narrow margin indicated there was no
mandate for sending the President an anti-gun crime bill.

May 17 Gun control sinks to a new low in the U.S. Senate. Having
passed the juvenile crime bill one year earlier with 73

You do not have to believe any of them; when I spoke of this Master
Plan, the cospirators have nothing to do with religion - they use it.

I believe in all relgion and no religon - it is as simple as that - but
as they say, a Mason can always tell when one of its own, is out of line
- how?

Those who cry peace, peace and prepare for war? To prepare for
national defense is one thing, but to stockpile tons of biological
warfare germs, and work like hell to find different ways to wipe out a
generation of kids, is another.
Census takers so hated - but record of first census, is in bible? And
when you have a census you you have a choice - death by wars or by
plagues?

Poisoned water, poisoned food, poisoned blood and promoting of
homosexual lifestyle is just another form of mass genocide - refer to
South Africa.

You do not have to believe anybody or anythingbut if you want the
truth, start knocking the booksif you had my bible calendar/code,
certain dates for specific murders and acts of sabotage - might be a
little easier to see the truth.

So do you hve imagination - can you read not between lines, but like a
Shakespearian play, a Midsummers NIght Dream - names are changed, but
same old scenario.

For instance for clue to little Princess of Wales Death read Acts 16 and
Acts 19 and keep in mind the color Purple, is symbol of royalty.and
JFK and RFK and little Princesss had soothsayers with big feet in door -
marking for death over and over - warnings of death, and these
soothsayers had been given certain information and were nothing but
spies in disguise? Snoops, nothing dvine about them - in fact, read
Acts 19 to see sabotage of Apollo.see burning of bookssee
special inquiries over the matter..see how Diana whom some
worshipped was to be despisedand remember the tabloids controlled by
CIA and MI6 said the Queen "despised" Diana which was not true.

For the conspirators lay foundations of lies; this Round Table did not
consist of Knights in Shiniing Armour, but conisted of murderers,
judging who will live and who will die - like a High Tribunal, they
think they do not murder - they execute and use bible as their
authority.

See Apollo the craft that came to naught and think of Shadrach, Meschenk
and Abenego tossed into the firey furnacewonder why Jack Ruby
(Rubenstein, jewish mafia) wonder why while in prison, over and over he
said "Shadrach, Mechenk, and Abenego: and consider this man was on drug
Preludin prior to assassintions and had a little dog, named
Sheba(Seba or Saba - spies all?)

So the conspirators use the bible calendar/code, for it is the Communist
Time Table, all mapped out.Twenty-Two, Skidoo?

For twenty-two is a magical number is it not, for in November the summer
ends, and the King Mut Die and Sagitarius takes deadly aim, and the sun
god lies at his feet - covered with red roses.

Oh you are look at conpirators with all the knowledge of ancient gods
and stories of fallen heros..Ezekial 38 and 39 is the symbolisms of
the President of the United States.some see the Valley of Hamon-Gog,
but I saw Arlington Cemetary.read the 109th psalm and 110 psalm,
then consider ancient biblical rituals, psalms of degrees, and you find
a secret society within a society, theTarot Card Assassons, the
slaughter of the innocents from Waco to Ruby Ridge to Littleton and
other schools along major drug route..and Klebold ad Harris were
victims too - for in fact you find mentors and controls, and programmed
killers.

Lips of those who are asleep made to speak, to walk, and to murder - a
look and a word, can killprogrammd through vicious movies someimes
timed prior to scenes of actual crimes.

Cry Havoc, Turn Loose the Dogs of War, and out of Chaos, New World
Order.dictatorship, and we see Clinton with big guns, but they are
all about to be turned upon him, as people see the truth.

Hebrews - Clintons "new covenant".remember the democrat convention
he and Gore pledged New Covenant.Hebrews 8,Kennedy had ot ie for

Christian Conservatives Suffering Abused Spouse Syndrome

By Chuck Baldwin

August 4, 2000

Two recent reports from the Republican National Convention
in Philadelphia really caught my eye. A Chicago Tribune
story begins, "Social conservatives, banned from the
spotlight of the Republican National Convention, gathered
to pay tribute to their own Wednesday at a public hall
miles away from the arena where the party is showcasing its
more mainstream speakers."

Next, a Scripps-McClatchy Western Service report begins,
"Christian conservatives tuning into the Republican
National Convention this week – even gavel-to-gavel
coverage on cable – have heard next to nothing from the
podium speakers about the core issues that have galvanized
them into a political force over the past two decades."

For a man who is noted to wear his religion on his sleeves,
King George has certainly given his fellow believers the
royal snub. Pro-abortion Colin Powell is preferred over
America’s most articulate pro-life statesman, Alan Keyes.

At the same time, in order to demonstrate to the world that
Dubya is "tolerant" and "compassionate," Rep. Jim Kolbe, an
out-of-the-closet homosexual, was invited to address
convention delegates. Nowhere to be seen is Gary Bauer or
even Steve Forbes. It’s like social conservatives have a
communicable disease and have all been quarantined.

In spite of this rudeness, Christian conservatives continue
to sing the praises of the Republican Party. This situation
reminds me of the poor wife who continues to stand by her
abusive husband. When confronted with the ill treatment
being inflicted upon her, she responds, "Where can I go?"
She is more afraid of being alone than she is of being with
a tyrant-husband.

It was an unholy marriage to begin with, this marriage
between Christian conservatives and the Republican Party.
We couldn’t see the dangers of it back in 1980 because the
groom was an articulate, principled conservative who openly
embraced the fundamental tenets and ideals of conservatism.
Not only did he give conservatives a place at the table,
but also he put us at the head of the table. We were
instantly spoiled!

It is that hallowed position that Christian conservatives
are salivating over. They have been put out of the palace,
and they desperately want back in! It’s hard to enjoy bread
and water after having tasted steak and shrimp.

There is one little problem: G. W. Bush is no Ronald
Reagan! As this convention demonstrates, Christian
conservatives will only be given the crumbs from this "new
kind of Republican." And just like that abused wife, when
confronted with this reality, they reply, "Where can we
go?"

Where we can go is to the same place our Founding Fathers
went: straight into the arms of the all-powerful God!
Conservative Christians are looking in the wrong place for
deliverance. We should do what American patriots have
always done: take our stand for principle and truth and let
the chips fall where they may! If every Christian in this
country would do what his conscience tells him to do and
would stop worrying about what the political pundits say,
we might find that God is willing to do for us what he did
for our fathers. However, since it doesn’t appear that this
will soon take place, Christian conservatives should expect
to eat more leeks and garlic, a Bush administration
notwithstanding.

 Foreword: Preventive Defense

Through more than four decades of Cold War, American national
security strategy was difficult to implement but easy to
 understand. America was
set on a clear course to contain Soviet expansionism anywhere in
the world, all the while building a formidable arsenal of nuclear
 weapons to deter
the Soviet Union from using military force against it or its
allies. Now, with the end of the Cold War, the underlying
 rationale for that strategy—the
threat from the Soviet Union—has disappeared. What strategy
should replace it? Much depends on finding the correct answer to
 this question.

The world survived three global wars this century. The first two
resulted in tens of millions of deaths, but the third—the Cold
 War—would have
been even more horrible than the others had deterrence failed.
These three wars trace a path that leads to the strategy needed
 for the post-Cold War
 era.

At the end of the First World War, the victorious European allies
sought revenge and reparations; what they got was a massive depression and
another world war. The United States sought "normalcy" and
isolation; what it got was total war and leadership in winning
 it. Because it failed to
prevent and then to deter Germany’s aggression, America was
forced to mobilize a second time to defeat it.

At the end of the Second World War, America initially chose a
strategy based on prevention. Vowing not to repeat the mistakes
 made after World
War I, the Truman administration created the Marshall Plan, which
sought to assist the devastated nations of Europe, friends and
 foes alike, to
rebuild. The Marshall Plan and other examples of the preventive
defense strategy, aimed at preventing the conditions that would
 lead to a future
world war, were an outstanding success in Western Europe and in Japan.

But the Soviet Union turned down the Marshall Plan and, instead,
persisted in a program of expansion, trying to take advantage of
 the weakened
condition of most of the countries of Europe. The resulting

The Council on Foreign Relations has been the most powerful private
organization in U.S. foreign policy since it began in 1921. While priding
itself on non-partisanship and on recent efforts to recruit minorities,
women, and youth (under 35), CFR's 3200 members mainly reflect the
resources needed by the ruling class to maintain their power. Don't call
them if you want to join; they call you. And don't wait for a call unless
you have big money, national security expertise, CIA experience, a
political constituency, or clout with the media. CFR publishes the
prestigious journal "Foreign Affairs" as well as a number of books and
reports. Another major activity is to organize closed meetings for their
members with assorted world leaders. Everyone feels free to share views
and information about current world events, primarily because CFR has
strict confidentiality rules and keeps its records locked up for 25 years.

To save disk space, the several membership rosters in NameBase were
entered to avoid redundancy. Citations to membership rosters prior to 1995
(1985, 1988, 1990, and 1992) were deleted if the name also appears on the

[CTRL] Fwd: Bombed Sudan Pharmaceutical Plant Update

Security Run by ŒTerrorist Suspect¹
London Times, 7-30-00

A SUDANESE businessman who has been linked by the American CIA to the
world's most wanted terrorist is the leading shareholder in a company that
provides security systems to the Houses of Parliament.

Salah Idris, 48, whose pharmaceutical factory in Sudan was flattened by
American cruise missiles after it was linked to Osama Bin Laden, the Saudi
terrorist, owns 25% of IES, a company specialising in high-technology
surveillance and security management.

The Kent-based firm not only provides advanced digital video cameras to
monitor public areas at Westminster but has also installed surveillance
equipment at the Royal Courts of Justice in London. Its digital playback
consoles are used by New Scotland Yard. The firm also provides security
systems for blue-chip companies including British Airways, Texaco and
Dixons.

Idris has strongly denied any links with Bin Laden, suspected of organising
the bombing of American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998, in which
more than 200 people were killed.

Idris, a multimillionaire, bought his shares in IES from a man who was at
the centre of the "arms-to-Iraq" affair.

Last week Idris launched a $50m (#163;31m) lawsuit in London against the
American government over the 1998 attack on his pharmaceutical plant in
Khartoum just after he had bought it for #163;11m.

The Americans said it was producing chemicals for use in Iraq's chemical
warfare programme - an allegation strongly denied by Idris.

Last week a spokesman for the CIA declined to comment about Idris because of
the lawsuit, but said: "We have maintained and continue to maintain that the
plant was linked to Bin Laden."

Former spy urges U.S. to stay course on terror
By: TERRY JOYCE
2/06/99
Page: B03

Be patient and stay the course is the advice retired Lt. Gen. Samuel V.
Wilson, president of Hampden-Sydney College, dispensed Friday when asked how
he thinks the United States should react to threats.
``Terrorism is probably the greatest threat,'' he said in an interview.
``We'll never be completely secure. That's impossible. But I think we're
doing some things right.''
Wilson, 75, has a personal history that includes work as a Cold War spy
master and a hot war soldier.
He spent 37 years in the Army at work ranging from Merrill's Marauders
behind Japanese lines during World War II to deputy director of the Central
Intelligence Agency. In between, he was a Cold War spy who dodged bullets
along the Iron Curtain and served as a Russian translator at various Summit
conferences.
He was in Charleston to attend a Hampden-Sydney board of trustees meeting
and to award retired Army Gen. William C. Westmoreland with an honorary
doctorate.
Wilson shares a heritage with Hampden-Sydney, whose founders include one of
his ancestors, Nathaniel Venable. The private school is one of three
all-male colleges in the country, he said, a condition he believes fosters
bonding among students and produces exceptional graduates.
He teaches U.S. Foreign Policy and National Security and an Overview of U.S.
Intelligence. He laughs because his students call the second course ``Spying
101.''
Wilson said he asks his students to adopt certain roles, such as a top post
at the CIA or defense attache in Moscow. Then he tells them to dig up some
real information and report back.
``Ninety percent of all intelligence is out in the open,'' he said. ``The
students learn they can pick up a lot in the library and on the Internet.
Often, before the course is over, we can tell if they were right.''
External threats aside, Wilson seemed more concerned about what he believes
is a decline in moral values throughout the country.
Last month, he said, the editor of Hampden-Sydney's college newspaper
appeared on the PBS Newshour along with campus editors from Princeton
University and the universities of Southern California, Wisconsin and North
Carolina at Chapel Hill. Only the Hampden-Sydney editor reported that
students at his college seemed more interested in President Clinton's
impeachment trial than in the stock market or graduation.
``If he (Clinton) were a student at Hampden-Sydney, he would be expelled for
lying,'' Wilson said, quoting the Hampden-Sydney editor. The college has an
honor code much like the U.S. military academies.
``I was proud of him,'' he said, referring to his school's editor. ``But I
was worried about the other four.''
Wilson feels that the U.S. military does well in several areas, especially
in helping people in Third World countries. He applauded units of the S.C.
Army National Guard, which have helped teach people in places like Honduras
how to improve their lives.
Wilson said he recognizes the dilemma that Clinton's impeachment trial
represents. He doesn't want to reward Clinton's behavior, he said, but he
also doesn't want to damage the presidency.
He insisted there's ``no quick fix'' to any of our problems. The military
especially needs the funding that comes from a consistent defense policy.

Hacker Housewives Destroy Needlepoint Industry

First there was Napster. Now there is pattern sharing!

LOS ANGELES - If the $40 billion global music business thought it had
problems with the emergence of a revolutionary Internet tool called Napster,
consider the now-terrified needlepoint industry.

For years, hobbyists hungry for doily-and-swan patterns have forked over $6
and $7 for them. Without a peep of complaint, they have provided a steady
stream of revenue to pattern publishers such as Cross My Heart and Pegasus
Originals.

In a good year, Pegasus can pull in about $500,000 from selling the
copyrighted patterns to its customers.

No more. Taking a cue from music-bootlegging teenagers, stitching enthusiasts
have discovered that they too can steal copyrighted material via the
Internet, thanks to anonymous file-sharing techniques.

''I'm only sharing with my friends and their friends,'' said Carla Conry, a
mother of six who runs PatternPiggiesUnite!, a 350-person underground
Internet community of stitchers who swap the patterns. ''Why shouldn't friends
help each other out and save a little bit of money?''

What is neighborly fun for Ms. Conry is outright theft to needlepoint
companies and the artists who create the patterns.

Sales at the South Carolina design shop Pegasus have dropped as much as
$200,000 a year since 1997, in part because of such swapping, said its
founder, Jim Hedgepath. He and a handful of companies and designers are
gathering evidence to wage a legal battle against the stitchers.

''They're housewives and they're hackers,'' Mr. Hedgepath said. ''I don't
care if they have kids. I don't care that they are grandmothers. They're
bootlegging us out of business.''

Like the record industry, the sewing world has been unable to come up with
any practical alternative to innovative file-swapping communities that
proliferate online. Some of the same entertainment conglomerates whose music
divisions are fighting Napster, such as Time Warner Inc., are feeling the
pinch from the pattern-swapping.

Legal experts are just starting to wrestle with the implications of new
technologies that will permit the instant distribution of information.
Business people are trembling at the prospect that file-swapping will not
stop at music, videos and needlepoint. There are rumblings that it has spread
to knitting and crocheting.

''Where will it end?'' asked Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum, 54, who designs
needlepoint patterns. She said she did not understand how people could
''stitch a stolen angel and still live with themselves.''

The little-known debate highlights the legal clash over copyrights in
cyberspace, where many consumers now believe that all information - whether
it is architectural designs or an Aerosmith record - should be freely shared.
If you can digitize it, you can steal it. And chances are someone has.

''People don't see it as stealing,'' said Jonathan Gaw, an
electronic-commerce analyst who tracks Internet trends for the research firm
IDC. ''Things will only change when publishers of all kinds make it easier to
buy and pay for it online than to get it for free somewhere else.''

The stitching debate started about a year ago, when a group of women - who
also happened to have PCs and digital scanners - decided to exchange
needlepoint designs.

The paper patterns, each essentially a large grid filled with thousands of
tiny squares, are the how-to instructions for a needlepoint practitioner.

For years, fans photocopied the patterns and sent them to each other. Not by
the dozens, mind you. Just one or two, tucked inside ''with a recipe and a
note,'' said Carlene Davis, 52, who lives in southwest Idaho. ''Just being
neighborly.''

Ms. Davis went online and scoured various Internet message boards devoted to
arts and crafts. She stumbled onto one board, called
rec.crafts.textiles.needlework, and discovered hundreds of other frustrated
stitchers.

Here was ground zero of a vast network of needlepoint designers and, much to
their chagrin, pirates hungry for freebies. Messages directed board readers
to Web sites and computer servers filled with hundreds of pattern books - all
saved in an electronic format.

Vicious debates over pattern-sharing exploded on the Net, and continue to
rage.

''I'm promoting the designers,'' said Shawna Dooley, 25, a homemaker in
Alberta. ''We're just sampling the patterns. If you like one pattern, you're
going to be more likely to go out and buy a pattern by that artist next
time.''

The needlepoint industry has refused to take the situation lying down. Shop
owners fear that the practice will put designers - who can make as little as
10 cents per pattern sold - out of business.

Some needlepoint designers make a healthy salary off their art: Ms.
Leavitt-Imblum said she had grossed $8 million in sales over the past 14
years. But

A note from Cynthia Ford, a N. California researcher:

In 1985, a U.S. Army report (DOD, "Biological Defense Program," ch. 1,
pp. 8-9) noted: It is possible to artificially produce the natural
biological substances which exert potent regulatory effects on the body.
These substances are normally present in the body in minute amounts and
control mental states; mood and emotion; perception; organ function, growth
and repair; temperature; and other body processes. These substances ar4e
not considered to be toxic and are indespensable to the normal functioning
of the human body. but even slight imbalances can cause profound
physiological effects, leading to incapacitation and even death. Due to the
advent of rDNA, these substances can be produced in large amounts by
molecular cloning. In fact, in this form they are stable, simple to store,
and rapidly expandable.

That's an interesting point.

I'm sure during the great biblical flood many people tried swimming in order
to "help themselves" survive.
I don't think God helped them out now did He?

Should we do nothing about it? That's not something I'd suggest to anyone.
I would however suggest
people be prepared for their inevitable defeat.

Re: [CTRL] General Observations

2000-08-06 Thread Bob Stokes

In a message dated 00-08-05 11:06:17 EDT, Bob Tatman writes:

"Violence is always a copout. Violence is the lazy person's answer to
problems." It is *so* easy to whip out a gun, snarl in Eastwood-esque voice
"Go ahead, make my day," and blow away the other guy.

Violence perpetrated on them is probably the only thing that politicians are
afraid of. When someone pulls a gun on you are you going to plead with him
or her not to shoot you, or will you pull a gun and kill them first. It is
your right to protect yourself and if they have a gun aimed at you; you have
every right to kill them for they are threatening you with death. If you
initiate the "violence" then you deserve what you get.

Do you not see that government is killing us every chance they get. They
kill us with drugs that do not cure ills. They kill us with their special
police forces that do not have to answer for their misdeeds. They may even
shoot down civilian aircraft with missles. They send our young men and women
to war to further their chances at becoming rich. Government gives
Corporations the "freedom" to kill at will with unsafe working conditions,
faulty products, low wages, pollution and many more hidden problems in the
making. The government's "War on Drugs" is an even bigger can of shit.

  It is much harder to
see the other guy as a human being, with emotions, fears, and loves that
just might be the same as yours if you only took the time to look.

These other guys are messing with us daily and care not whether we live or
die. We are not much more than cattle to them. I feel no pity for one who
puts himself/herself above all others and obviously they do not pity me or
other common people.

 The
"enemy" is made up of a whole lot of individuals, each one unique, each one
 equally our sister or brother.

This sounds like the socialist crap they teach in schools and you appear to
be wanting to fall for it … Why? These rich people who control our lives are
not my brothers or sisters. Love your enemy as yourself and he/she will use
that against you every time. That is one way religion is used to suppress
the masses. Let the bad guys stick it to you, but you should turn the other
cheek and feel sorry for them … get real. Who translated the Bible, not
common people, but scholars (so deemed by the emperor) who work for the
emperor. Would a God tell you to follow rules made by men, I sincerely doubt
that, but there it is in the Bible to keep the peace and follow the laws of
the emperor. The socialist religion says the same thing … God is your
government, it is your Mommy and Daddy and will take care of you … be an
adult you do not need government to care for you.

Sure, I know it's easier to deal with people
as groups, to stereotype them with their group characteristics, so that all
cops are brutal, all politicians are corrupt, all businessmen interested in
only the bottom line... But the hard truth is that some cops are actually
gentle and caring; some politicians are actually honest; some businessmen
are actually interested in the welfare of their workers.

Here you have named the exceptions rather than the rules. If five percent
were the exception it would amaze me.

The hard truth is that most law officers start out as very caring people who
want to serve and protect. They are jaded through the years. They see only
the worst part of society and it is very hard to stick to your principles
when it seems most of the world is out to get you.

I've never met an honest politician, ever.

Businessmen who care about the welfare of their workers? Maybe a middle
level manager or a line lead, but those at the top could care less about the
people that make money for them. I've seen this in action and worked for
several corporations. They care so much about their workers that they send
the business to some foreign country because it saves money and the
shareholders like that. The shareholders could save even more money if they
fired American management and sent that to a third world foreign country. Do
not forget that our government condones and even supports loss of American
jobs by giving corporations tax advantages Business pukes are as bad as
politicians, if not worse.

 "Look behind that
bush, for it is not a bush." If you are trying to build a society based on
cooperation and mutual aid, you have to learn to trust *everyone*, even your
 enemies.

I trust my enemies to "bend me over" every chance they get. I watch my back
because they are to cowardly for a frontal assault. A society based on
co-operation and mutual aid is not impossible, but has never worked, man is
too greedy.

And that is the hardest lesson of all. ...And it is a lesson I am
*still* trying to learn, with only mixed success.

I tried being Mr. Nice Guy. All that happened is that I was taken for a
sucker. Walk softly and carry a .45.

Bob Stokes

Speaking of gun politics you're close. I am Canadian. We have very
restrictive
gun laws here that do nothing but disarm (in time) law abiding gun owners
whilst
leaving the criminal element to terrorize the populous. We need an N.R.A.

Your nation was born out of bloodshed. It's something Americans pride
themselves on.
There's nothing wrong with overthrowing tyranny in my mind. One however must
remember that
to live by the sword is to die by the sword.

I'd call it a realistic attitude and please don't infer me to be a coward. I
simply don't
see the point in blasting away at the inevitable gun collection agent(s) who
will one day
walk up your sidewalk to ring on your doorbell. Unless of course you'd
already picked that
day to die and wanted to take a few of them out with you. Besides a little
gratification it
accomplishes nothing but to further the inevitable gun confiscation and have
more draconian gun
laws legislated. I'm sure everytime there is another school shooting the
politicians rejoice privately
while send public condolences.

And by the way, I wouldn't talk about American readiness to fight tyranny.
For instance my fellow
compatriots were fighting and DYING in two world wars long before Americans
entered the war(s).
Whoo hoo! America came in WWI in the last friggin year. In WWII they had to
be attacked before
they could work up enough adrenalin to get up courage to fight and enter the
war. Ya ya... sure sure..
you guys are ready to fight. But only when it suits you. (or rather the
elite who sends you off to die)

You can expect America to do the right thing but only after they've
exhausted every other possibility.

You've got me all wrong Mr. Stokes. I'm not afraid to fight back at the

I would very much like to be a thorn in the govt's side. The difference

[CTRL] Critical Review Of Barry Smith-NWO/Prophecy/Last Days

2000-08-06 Thread William Shannon

HTMLFONT SIZE=3 PTSIZE=10 FAMILY="FIXED" FACE="Courier New" LANG="0"The New World
Order, Prophecy, and the Last Days: BR
A critical review of talks given by Barry SmithBR
By Michael J. RushBR
Occult and demonic forces are undermining world governments, heralding the Day of
Judgement of biblical infamy. At least, according to the New Zealand Christian
Evangelist Barry Smith. Barry Smith travels extensively expounding his views on
current affairs in relation to Biblical prophecy about the Last Days. The phrase “the
Last Days” refers to a period immediately preceding the time when God will carry out
final Judgement on humankind. Prophecy about the Last Days generally deals with events
that can be seen as a warning that the biblical Day of Judgement is imminent. The
following is a critical review of Barry Smith’s claims, put forth by him, in talks at
West Bromwich Town Hall on 4th, 5th and 6th October 1997 and another series of talks
given at Zion Church, Chesterfield on 11th, 12th and 13th September. BR
BR
This review will briefly summarise Barry Smith's ideas but will not cover anything
like the amount of detail that actually goes into his talks. Some of his meetings are
both audio and video taped, and he has written a series of books dealing with his
claims. Interested readers are encouraged to pursue the details further for
themselves. BR
BR
According to Barry Smith the Common Market will be the final world empire, which is
represented by the feet of iron and clay in Daniel’s vision of the statue; Dan.
2:31-45. The leader of the European Union will be the anti-Christ, as described in the
book of Revalation. The goal of the EU is to set up a “New World Order” (NWO) in which
there is a single world-wide monetary system and world religion, the latter being set
up by the World Council of Churches (WCC). This religion, fears Barry Smith, would be
“Luciferan” in nature. That is, devoted to worship of Satan. The NWO will be brought
about by the inauguration of a “Global Village”, basically the assigning of production
of certain commodities to particular countries. He quotes Henry Kissenger as saying,
“By controlling energy we control nations, by controlling food we control
individuals.” BR
BR
To set up the “Global Village” every country will be made to lose it’s independence by
a process of overseas privatisation. Barry Smith alleges that this is being done by
two groups called the “International Monetary Fund” (IMF) and the “World Bank”. In
brief it works as follows; the international money lenders loan large amounts of money
to a country whose leaders unwittingly sign “Conditionalities Policies”. After a
number of years the international money lenders then call on these conditions to be
fulfilled and the country has no choice but to comply. In order to fulfil the policies
the countries government will have to undergo “Restructuring”, “Corporatisation”, and
“Privatisation”. Institutions such as Telecom, the Post Office, and Unions will be
abolished, and shares will be sold overseas. The end result will be that the debt has
been paid but the country will be left with no money and no assets. The country will
become “ungovernable” and world-wide interdependence enforced. This will effectively
achieve the abolition of war and pave the way for the “Global Village” and
one-world-government. BR
BR
Barry Smith claims that New Zealand was selected by the leaders of this NWO plan, to
be the “guinea pig” for these economic and governmental changes. He then says that
these principles will be spread to other countries in order to destabilise each
nation's government thus making it more easy to control. The alleged link between the
Devil's activities in the Last Days and current government is made through the
assertion that behind the facade of everyday political activity there is a highly
organised and hierarchical system of secret occult societies. These societies, such as
the Freemasons, Illuminati, Ordo Templi Orientis, and the Palladium, are working to
bring about the NWO in which the freedom and power of individuals and nations will be
compromised. Further to the political and economic changes, he claims that each and
every individual will be made to receive a silicon chip implant in order to identify
that person, in a similar way that pets can currently be electronically tagged in
connection with quarantine laws. This will be the mark of the Beast from Rev16:2 and
19:20 and will proceed from the introduction of electronic cash cards, such as
“Mondex”, and culminate in implants. BR
BR
Furthermore, he claims that satellites have been used to map and divide the whole
planet into a series of grid squares, these are further sub-divided to a very small,
and therefore accurate, scale. Each of these grid squares has a specific number which
can be assigned to a person’s silicon chip implant in order to identify not only them
but also their exact location. One of the

Superstitious students do worse on tests
By ED SUSMAN, UPI Science News

WASHINGTON, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Students who grow up believing in
superstitions and other beliefs in the paranormal perform worse on
standardized tests than their peers who don't hold such beliefs. "If you
believe that black cats are bad luck, and broken mirrors cause bad luck-if
you believe that stuff-you are likely not to score as well as others on SAT
and other tests," said Michael Sonntag, assistant professor of psychology at
Lander University, Greenwood, SC.

However, Sonntag said students who believed in the possibility of
extraterrestrial or extraordinary life forms tended to score higher on SATs
and had higher grade point averages than the students who didn't believe in
paranormal abilities or events.

"Belief in the possibility of extraordinary life forms or ETs is not
necessarily a violation of the physical laws of science," Sonntag said,
suggesting that other paranormal beliefs skew a child's knowledge base and
might affect scholastic testing.

Sonntag interviewed 482 undergraduate students at a state-supported
university in the Southeast, about two-thirds of whom were women;
three-fourths of the students identified themselves as white, about one
fifth were African American. The students provided their high school
academic records and underwent an interview which determined scores on a
standard scale concerning paranormal beliefs-including traditional religious
beliefs, ability to read minds, belief in witchcraft, belief in
superstition, spiritualism, precognition and belief in extraordinary life
forms.

"What stands out," Sonntag said, "is that students who believed in
superstition scored significantly lower on their verbal SAT scores, on their
math SAT scores, on their grade point average, on their high school rank.
They also scored lower than other students in math and sciences, in the
humanities and in business courses."

Student scores in other areas of paranormal belief also suffered, but not
as extensively as those who had strong superstition beliefs, Sonntag
reported at the annual meeting of the American Psychological Association in
Washington.

"Taken together, these results suggest that students who exhibit a belief
that simple forces outside of their control tend to guide or shape their
behavior may be prone to poorer academic performance," he said. However, he
said that virtually across the board, student who believed in ET and other
extraordinary life forms, did better academically.

Sonntag said some people have criticized the standardized test of
paranormal beliefs for including the ET questions; he said his study
suggests that those criticisms may be on the mark. He also noted despite
increased education, the paranormal beliefs persist. "It seem that most
paranormal beliefs are relatively immune to the critical reasoning skills
taught in the academy," he said.

spiritual epiphany.

"It is so moving," Smith intones warmly and begins to read it aloud with

  The Two Lying Bastards Show

I'm looking forward to a great new TV sitcom this summer/fall season
-- the Two Lying Bastards Show, in which a pair of our most talented
clowns, Al Gore and George W. Bush, will appear, both as solo acts
and as orchestrated duets. Gore will attempt to keep a straight face
while claiming that he hasn't smoked any reefer lately,
at least not really lately, and Bush will also attempt to look honest
and
truthful while swearing that he hasn't snorted any coke in recent
years, or months,
or weeks. Both will endeavor to look stern and righteous while
explaining why we need more
prisons for the poor folks who share one or both of these recreational
habits. Man, it should rank as the "laff riot" of the year, as
Hollywood
  would say.
I wonder if there exists a single hominid critter with more than a half
inch of forhead who can take either of these mutts seriously?
The voter turnout last time was the lowest in our history; more than
half of the
eligible voters didn't even bother to go to the polls. It will
undoubtedly
  drop even lower this time.
Hey -- suppose they gave an election and nobody came?

This is for the prophets of doom and gloom; do you know the word
prophecy equates to propaganda? That when Hitler dug up the words of
Nostradamus and had his propagandist predicting victory for the Germans,
that Winston Churchill drug them out also and had his astrologers
working overtime predicting victory for the Englis? English never did
appreciate our Amrican "Yanks" dying for that bunch of war
mongers.freedom for whom? Freedom from what when the big bankers
profitted at the expense of the jews, christians, catholics and even the
gypsies for they wore golden earrings?

So - John F. Kennedy, in this day and age, these bastards sent out a
creep like Jean Dixon to prophecy murder for the Kennedys, to plant
seeds of destruction and in her book which I call Gift of Propaganda
(she called Gift of Prophecy) at the end she claims America must be
cleansed by fire and the filth and garbage removed; she prophesied
Russia would beat us to the moon and I know now, that J. Edgar Hoover
who got on her Children to Children Board is the man responsible for
exposing her fraudulant use of this foundation money.I was on
Hoover's list but he told his men and Frank Fitzsimmons of Teamsters,
that I was getting the information on my on - all that secret stuff.
Nobody knows what Hoover was really like or why he did the things he did
but I know this, the night he was murdered - Law Day - and big communist
day, I knew he was to be murdered and Walter Cronkite set the
stage.said Hoover had given LGB Sex Files for nighty nite reading
and today Larry Flynt has those files, for the infomratio he puts out is
very, very oldtreason walks within.

So Tokyo Rose, Nostradamus, Lord Haw Haw - all served a purpose - I used
to call Jean Dixon the Tokyo Rose of Washingon Square.she was worse

So read this from Kings and see the secret of prophecy and propaganda
before your eyes and wonder about the little Princes of Walkes, little

and people like Dixon prepared the stage for murder..Premeditated
Murder By Prophecy, the VAlley of Hamon Gog...and there shall they
bury Gog and all his multitudes, and they shall call it the VAlley of
Hamon Gog..

Evil is as evil does...Queen Elizabeth I put out a proclamation and
law that any soothsayer, propagandist, astrologer and phoney prophet who
prediced when the King or Queen should die, or how they should die, and
how long they should live.would pay with their own lives.rather
like the guy in the bible and JFK who said, who kills me trades his
life, for mine.

Like Ambrose Bierce who wrote a quantrain against McKinley whom he said
would lie on the bier gunned by bullet that killed a Governor..

Like Walter Lippman who wrote from the 109th Psalm, the vicious
ritualistic vendetta (and that ain't Italian) "let his days be few, let
another take his office, his wife a widow and his children
fatherless".and in Job, the key verse to hit JFK."neither shall
he return to his house anymore"..this worked for RFK also - and
Lincoln remember had a phoney prophetess who said she saw blood running
down his forehead.well Lincoln was shot from behind and no blood ran
down his forehead, but dead is dead and the great grandson of a member
of the Hells Fire Club, John Wilkes, did the job. A Shakespearian
Actor, none the less...first the play or movie, then the act...

So take away negative people from me; when people see the truth, it will
sufficeno NWO will take over and break our constitution for they
lack the authority and it is the 6 billion against the Gideon 300..

The Four-Year Investigation Ends, the Mystery Endures
Flight 800's Last Stage
by Robert Davey

ith a public meeting set for later this month, the endgame of the long, very
costly investigation into the crash of TWA Flight 800 may be at hand. On
August 22 and 23, victims' family members, their lawyers, and others will
gather at National Transportation Safety Board headquarters in Washington,
D.C., for what the NTSB calls a "Sunshine Meeting." They will listen to a
formal presentation by NTSB staffers of their final report on the crash of
TWA Flight 800, which exploded without warning as it climbed smoothly out of
JFK on its way to Paris, at 8:31 p.m. on July 17, 1996.
If the five-member board decides to accept the TWA 800 report's conclusions,
they will vote on a probable cause for the crash. Going by its public
statements over the past three and a half years, the NTSB seems likely to
endorse a finding that the aircraft was destroyed because an electrical flaw
put a spark into the center fuel tank, causing an explosion.
It has been four years since the fiery crash eight miles south of Long
Island that killed 230 peopleóthe second-worst airline disaster in U.S.
history in terms of fatalitiesóand set off a probe that a recent Learning
Channel documentary called "one of the most controversial investigations of
all time." As reports of the crash filled the late evening broadcasts of CNN
and the networks, eyewitnesses were already coming forward to report that a
mysterious, flarelike object had streaked across the sky. These eyewitness
reports, which would number in the hundreds, gave rise to the theory that a
missile had hit the plane.
Soon, full-blown conspiracy theories emerged, alleging that the federal
investigation, shared by the FBI and NTSB, was covering up either the first
successful terrorist shoot-down of an American airliner or elseóan even more
harrowing possibilityóthat a U.S. Navy ship shot down the plane in a ghastly
military mistake.
But within months the NTSB announced that it had found the cause of the
crash: an explosion in the 25-year-old Boeing 747's almost empty center fuel
tank. A year later the FBI suspended its criminal investigation, having
found no evidence of a bomb or missile.
At its five-day hearing on the crash, held in Baltimore in December 1997,
NTSB chairman Jim Hall pledged that the Safety Board would continue to
search for evidence of what had ignited the center tank explosion, while
working to ensure that all ignition sources would henceforth be banned from
aircraft fuel tanks and that the exposure of tanks to flammable vapors would
be reduced to a minimum.
In an unusual show of cooperation with the Safety Board, the FAA last year
proposed new rules to enhance fuel system safety, and the Clinton
administration took up the cause in May when it said that it would establish
a research group to examine wire safety issues. "Aging wiring is an issue of
national concern," said a White House memo reported by USA Today. The
article mentioned recent wiring malfunctions in the space shuttle fleet and
suggested that similar problems were being considered as possible causes for
the Swissair 111 and TWA 800 crashes.
Yet troubling questions remain. It is worth noting that the NTSB has never
found evidence that conclusively shows that a tank explosion caused the TWA
800 crash. Former CNN reporter Christine Negroni, in her book Deadly
Departure, details a scenario involving a possible short circuit in wiring
outside the center tank, a theory that has come to be favored by
investigators. However, the NTSB has yet to demonstrate that any breakdown
in Flight 800's systems could have caused an explosion.
Now, in interviews with the Voice, two experts in aviation fuel express
doubts about the essential question of whether the atmosphere inside TWA
800's center tank that evening was likely to have been truly explosive (see
below).
Critics of the investigation, of course, have always been skeptical of the
center-tank explosion theory, mainly because of the eyewitness evidence that
is now at last in the public domain. At the NTSB's August hearing, said
spokesman Paul Schlamm, the board will incorporate that evidence into its
findings.
Eyewitness accounts have long been an important tool for crash
investigators; there have been air disasters, for example, in which it was
only from eyewitness accounts that investigators could be reasonably sure
that lightning had struck an aircraft. According to a 1985 Air Force manual
for aircraft accident investigators by Joseph M. Kuchta and Robert G.
Clodfelter, "Of particular interest is what the witness saw,

E. coli scare prompts second beef recall

The Associated Press

WASHINGTON (August 5, 2000 9:42 p.m. EDT
http://www.nandotimes.com) - A Pennsylvania meat processor is recalling
more than a quarter-million pounds of beef that may be contaminated with
potentially deadly E. coli bacteria, the Agriculture Department said
Saturday. The same packer last week withdrew 346,700 pounds of
suspect ground beef.

The latest recall involves 253,350 pounds of MOPAC brand pure ground
beef, pure ground sirloin, pure ground round and pure ground chuck,
produced by Moyer Packing Co. of Souderton, Pa..

The products were produced on July 19 in 10-pound packages that bear
the establishment number 1311 and the date 07/19/00. They were shipped
in boxes weighing 40 to 60 pounds to wholesalers in New York, New
Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia,
Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.

The products may have been reground and repackaged at the retail level,
USDA said, and consumers may wish to check with their retailers.

No illnesses have been reported from this batch, whose recall was
triggered when a sample of reground beef collected July 26 from a retail
store tested positive for E. coli O157:H7, USDA said.

E. coli bacteria can cause bloody diarrhea and dehydration, with the very
young, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems most in
danger of fatal complications.

The first recall, announced July 29, involved 346,700 pounds of ground
beef, distributed at the wholesale level in 5- and 10-pound packages. They
also were suspected of possible E. coli contamination, but no illnesses
were reported.

Dems Have a Problem With a Jewish Vice President
Sunday, August 06, 2000

By Thomas Ferraro

EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. (Reuters) - Sen. Joseph Lieberman would ''almost be a slam
dunk'' as Al Gore's choice for vice-presidential running mate if he were
Episcopalian rather than Jewish, Ed Rendell, chairman of the National
Democratic Committee, said on Saturday.

``Joe Lieberman would be a bold and courageous choice,'' Rendell said,
calling the Connecticut Democrat ``maybe the finest person in politics'' but
also acknowledging concerns about a possible backlash against his faith.

``I don't think anyone can calculate the effect of having a Jew on the
ticket,'' Rendell told reporters as Gore attended a fund-raiser in East
Hampton, New York. ``If Joe Lieberman was Episcopalian, I think he'd almost
be a slam dunk,'' Rendell added.

Gore intends to name his choice on Tuesday. Lieberman is on the short-list,
along with Sens. John Kerry of Massachusetts, John Edwards of North Carolina
and Evan Bayh of Indiana, House Democratic Leader Dick Gephardt of Missouri,
and New Hampshire Gov. Jeanne Shaheen.

Shaheen and Gephardt have said they are not interested. But only Shaheen has
said she would not accept the No. 2 slot if it was offered.

Gore has also said there is a seventh possible contender, identified only as
a ``wild card.''

Rendell joked that he was for the ``wild card,'' though he added he did not
know the identity of the person. He said that each of the six known
candidates would be a boost but that he was remaining publicly neutral and
would not endorse anyone.

At the same time, he threw out a couple of other names as potential
contenders: Sen. Bob Kerrey of Nebraska, a veteran of Vietnam, where he won
the Medal of Honor, and former New Jersey Sen. Bill Bradley, whom Gore
defeated for the Democratic presidential nomination earlier this year.

Rendell said Kerrey's war-hero status could be a boost to Gore, who also
served in Vietnam as an Army journalist. Rendell said that if Gore picked
Bradley, a former Rhodes Scholar and professional basketball player, that
would also trigger excitement.

Asked what Bradley would bring to the ticket, Rendell said, ''Intelligence,
integrity and stature and (the states of) Pennsylvania, New Jersey and
Delaware.''

Rendell said Gore might have picked Defense Secretary Bill Cohen as his
running mate -- if Cohen had not said he intended to vote for fellow
Republican George W. Bush for president.

``He'd be dynamite,'' Rendell said of the former Republican senator from
Maine.

Of Lieberman, Rendell said, ``Maybe that is what we ought to do is pick the
finest person in politics -- I think it would be great.''

Asked if Lieberman's faith was enough of a concern to rule him out, Rendell
shrugged and said, ``I'm not sure that the people who would vote against us
because Joe is Jewish aren't going to vote against us anyway.''

[CTRL] Government continues to resist Calif.’s marijuana law

2000-08-06 Thread Steve Wingate

Government continues to resist
Calif.’s marijuana law

 ASSOCIATED PRESS
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 4 - The Department of
Justice on Thursday pledged to continue resisting
California’s voter-approved medical marijuana
law, arguing the government has the right to
penalize doctors who recommend cannabis by
revoking their licenses to dispense medication.

JUSTICE DEPARTMENT LAWYERS argued their
position in U.S. District Court here during what may be the
final stage of a lawsuit brought by the American Civil
Liberties Union.
The ACLU contends that the government’s position
violates doctors’ free speech rights, and that many doctors
now resist recommending pot for fear of losing their federal
right to prescribe medication.
U.S. District Court Judge William Alsup was expected to
rule within weeks, lawyers said, and the ruling could have
broad implications for several states with similar laws.
Measures similar to California’s Proposition 215, which
voters passed in 1996, have passed in Alaska, Arizona,
Hawaii, Maine, Nevada, Oregon and Washington state.
Department of Justice lawyer Joseph W. Lobue told the
judge that the government doesn’t care whether California
voters approved the Compassionate Use Act, which allows
patients to grow and possess marijuana for medical use with
a doctor’s recommendation.
“It doesn’t matter what California says,” Lobue argued.
Arguing that federal law applies to the country no matter
how states may have voted, Lobue said the government
would take the same position “in Oklahoma if they had that
law.”
California Attorney General Bill Lockyer has urged
Attorney General Janet Reno to ease the federal
government’s resistance to California’s attempts to
implement its initiative.
“The voters in my state have endorsed the medicinal use
of marijuana,” Lockyer wrote to Reno in October.

Re: [CTRL] Gas Prices Paying for Bush Campain

2000-08-06 Thread John Szocik

Let's all get real here!
It's been a known fact that we could have had engines that utilize
alternative fuels for decades! It's the almighty dollar that keeps us using
the same type of engine since its conception prior to the turn of the century.
We sent men to the moon and back 31 years ago; you mean to tell me that
technology could not come-up with a "revolutionary" engine since that time?!
Another point of fact; if the powers that be insist on keeping the gas-driven
engines, then why can't they build an engine that gets 200 mpg? The fact of
the matter is they could if they wanted to-technology dictates that this is a
very simple exercise in engineering. However, the oil companies wouldn't be
making the billions they do if this was put into practice.
So let us all sit back and continue to let the goverment/oil companies tell
us that this is how things are going to be whether we like it or not.Either
pay our prices, or don't drive or heat your home.We can afford it, the hell
with the rest of you!
It's time we demand an alternative to this forced mode of powering our
vehicles and furnaces. How long do we stand for this unecessary bull? How any
more lies from these thieves are we supposed to swallow? Things don't have to
be this way, we, as a people, let it continue!
See you at the pumps!

[CTRL] West Nile Vaccine To Be Ready In Record Time

2000-08-06 Thread William Shannon

West Nile Vaccine Will Be Developed in Record Time
--
--

LONDON, Aug 02 (Reuters Health) - The leader of the program to develop a West
Nile vaccine said on Monday that it could be ready within 3 to 4 years — half
the time it normally takes to launch a new vaccine.

Dr. Thomas Monath, vice president of research at OraVax Inc., the US
subsidiary of the UK company Peptide Therapeutics, told Reuters Health, "We
are quite confident that this is going to be very straightforward and very
quick compared with other vaccine developments."

He explained in a telephone interview that the company's technology has been
proven in the development of vaccines for yellow fever, dengue fever and
Japanese encephalitis, which are caused by the same family of viruses as the
West Nile virus.

Dr. Monath, a former head of the US Army medical corps and researcher at the
US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is widely held to be a leading
expert on this virus family.

"We are confident that within 6 months or so we will have a candidate vaccine
in hand," he said. It would then take a year or so to start clinical trials
on human volunteers.

"The shortest time frame for most vaccines is about 6 years," he explained.
"We think we will halve that...and have a full licence in 3 to 4 years from
now."

Earlier on Monday, OraVax announced that it has been awarded a fast-track
small business innovative research grant by the US National Institutes of
Health to develop the vaccine.

The phase I award is for $263,000, while the phase II grant will be funded at
a level of $2.7 million for up to 2 years.

In a statement, the company said that it would use its ChimeriVax technology
to help develop the West Nile vaccine.

A phase III trial of OraVax's yellow fever vaccine has been completed. The
company expects to file for US Food and Drug Administration approval later
this year.

Re: [CTRL] Dems Have a Problem With a Jewish Vice President - Hypocrites

2000-08-06 Thread Aleisha Saba

So they say Lieberman will not be chosen for Vice President is because
he is Jewish? Not true.

I reproduce the reason Lieberman will not be the chosen one and that
includes Diane Feinstein too.when Clinton sunk to bottom of bilge,
Feinstein was the first to turn on him like a Pit Bull and Lieberman,
who was without sin, it is alleged he alone could cast the first stone.

The Democrat Party is a family - they hide each others indiscretions -
and Republicans do the same...matter of personal pride and honor.

Clinton went off the deep end and I think little Monica was sent in for
all knew his weakness...this fat dumpy frump with pizza? Still that
that pizza was loaded with Ecstasy and the phone sex with Mossad
listening in?

And Lieberman will not be the chosen one because he is Jewish? Not it
is because he was honest, and they have to skeletons to pull from his
closet.Feinstein has few skeletons when you look into her
history..

So Lieberman took the less traveled road - and Gore no longer wants to
travel on the same well traveled road with Clinton and Flynt and
Carville and Barney Frank - or does he?

I say this - what is Lieberman's weakness for to this date they
have..he has prevented the spy Pollard being released against
desires of the mossadGore needs the jewish vote and Hilliary went
after the vote with a passion

Lieberman was elected in Connecticut - so their is no religious test for
running for public office, only if the character or activities of an
individual are questionable.

Well maybe Lieberman has just a little too much integrity for that lot
of thieves and sodomists; yet he refrained from malicious attacks.

So do not blame the fact he is jewish for his not being considered for
Vice President - it is that Conecticute is a small state, the jewish
vote is small in this country - maybe in New York it is needed - but it
seems to me that Lieberman ran as a man, and not a jew and was elected
on his qualifications?

Who knows.now Barney Frank, he has a handicapp...male
prostitution ring he ran with? Homosexual we would like to put back in
closet? Last think that comes to mind, is he is jewish.

So I liked this article; for it tells you what Lieberman did when it
came to Clinton - he weighed the scales, and did the right thing, which
was the wrong thing if you want to fly with
the snow birds - guess Lieberman would rather fly with the eagles?

September 3, 1998
Lieberman Addresses the Senate Regarding President Clinton and the
Independent Counsel's Investigation
Washington, DC -- Sen. Joe Lieberman today addressed his colleagues in
the United States Senate with regard to President Clinton and the
Independent Counsel's investigation.
The following is the text of Lieberman's statement made in the Senate
late this afternoon:
Mr. President, I rise today to make a most difficult and distasteful
statement, for me probably the most difficult statement I have made on
this floor in my ten years in the Senate.
On August 17th, President Clinton testified before a grand jury convened
by the Independent Counsel and then talked to the American people about
his relationship with Monica Lewinsky, a former White House intern.

He told us that the relationship was "not appropriate," that it was
"wrong," and that it was "a critical lapse of judgement and a personal
failure" on his part. In addition, after seven months of denying that he
had engaged in a sexual relationship with Ms. Lewinsky, the President
admitted that his "public comments. . . about this matter gave a false
impression." He said, "I misled people."

My immediate reaction to this statement was deep disappointment and
personal anger. I was disappointed because the President of the United
States had just confessed to engaging in an extramarital affair with a
young woman in his employ and to willfully deceiving the nation about
his conduct. I was personally angry because President Clinton had by his
disgraceful behavior jeopardized his Administration's historic record of
accomplishment, much of which grew out of the principles and programs
that he and I and many others had worked on together in the New
Democratic movement. I was also angry because I was one of the many
people who had said over the preceding seven months that if the
President clearly and explicitly denies the allegations against him,
then, of course, I believe him.

Since that Monday night, I have not commented on this matter publicly. I
thought I had an obligation to consider the President's admissions more
objectively, less personally, and to try to put them in a clearer
perspective. And I felt I owed that much to President Clinton, for whom
I have great affection and admiration, and who I truly believe has
worked tirelessly to make life tangibly better in so many ways for so
many Americans.

But the truth is, after much reflection, my feelings of disappointment
and anger have not dissipated. Except now these feelings have gone
beyond

Anarchism, the Creed That Won't Stay Dead

The Spread of World Capitalism Resurrects a Long-Dormant Movement
By JOSEPH KAHN

Since Karl Marx bested the anarchist leader Mikhail Bakunin in a struggle to
shape world revolution a century and a half ago, anarchism has undergone a
half-dozen resurrections and almost as many deaths.

It was crushed with the Paris Commune in 1871, suppressed in the United
States after an anarchist shot President William McKinley in 1901, destroyed
by Franco in the Spanish Civil War of the late 1930's and left to wither
away with the 1960's student radicalism. Ideologically opposed to power and
ambivalent about organization, anarchists perpetually live on the fringe of
great movements -- and on the verge of defeat.

Yet the very qualities that consign anarchism to obscurity also endow it
with many lives, if only as a prefix: anarcho-collectivism,
anarcho-syndicalism, anarcho-mutualism, anarcho-individualism,
anarcho-ecologism. And at the turn of this century, it is undergoing a fresh
resurgence.

Black-masked anarchists stoned chain stores in Seattle during global trade
talks last year. Protesters with giant A's pasted on their shirts blocked
intersections in Washington during demonstrations against international
lending agencies last spring. They were in the streets of Philadelphia
during the Republican National Convention this week and have promised to
stalk the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles this month.

Self-described anarchists are small in number. But anarchism, broadly
construed, is becoming fashionable. There are hints of it in the way
protesters of diverse loyalties -- labor, environmental and consumer groups
among them -- have sought to become a mass but leaderless movement, a
collection of affinity groups that operate by consensus. Many of those who
oppose the institutions that enforce rules of international capitalism call
for a return to local decision-making, echoing longtime anarchist objections
to the way nation-states usurped the power of cities and towns.

The protests have often been condemned in the mainstream news media as
imbecilic and chaotic, all action and no theory. But that is also an
anarchist trait. Its adherents have long been dismissed as uneducated and
unwashed. Anarchism's most memorable slogan, coined by Enrico Malatesta of
Italy, is "propaganda by deed."

"With the decline of socialism, you have seen anarchism go through a revival
as an easy way to oppose global capitalism," said Paul Avrich, a leading
historian of anarchism who teaches at Queens College in New York.

Mr. Avrich, who has written extensively on early-20th-century American
anarchists, said anarchist cells all but disappeared by the 1970's as the
last of the European immigrants who brought the creed to the United States
died. But anarchist groups are reappearing in every major city, he says.
Today they have their own bookstores, like Blackout Books on the Lower East
Side and Social Anarchism in Baltimore. They read The Match, a popular
magazine published in Tuscon, Ariz., or Fifth Estate, a Detroit newspaper.

Pierre-Joseph Proudhon was probably the first person to call himself an
anarchist when he wrote "What Is Property?" in 1840. (His answer: theft.)
Proudhon advocated free bank credit and rejected parliamentary politics as
hopelessly dominated by the elite. But anarchism was defined and popularized
by Bakunin, a heavily bearded Russian insurrectionist who helped foment
uprisings across Europe in 1848.

Bakunin's motto was, "The urge to destroy is a creative urge." Unlike Marx,
Bakunin did not justify his theory as science. He described anarchists as
people who know what they are fighting against more than what they are
fighting for.

Anarchism reached critical mass as a revolutionary movement only once,
during the Spanish Civil War of 1936-39. But it has long touched a political
and cultural chord in the United States.

Henry David Thoreau was an exemplary anarchist, though he never called
himself one. Emma Goldman, a Russian immigrant who advocated free love,
women's rights and armed insurrection, was the best known of the immigrant
anarchists who helped prompt a red scare around World War I. (She appears in
E. L. Doctorow's novel "Ragtime" and in Warren Beatty's movie "Reds.") In
1927 the Italian immigrants Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, both
avowed anarchists, were executed after being convicted of killing a
paymaster and his guard at a shoe factory near Boston.

Anarchists consider themselves of the left, not the right. But
antigovernment ideas that sound anarchist themes are common across the
political spectrum. John Wayne, in many of his Westerns, and Mel Gibson,

After receiving no response from anyone answering my pleas for help
covering the trial, Jane and I sort of hit a brick wall this week in
trying to keep up with writing our promised daily updates. What's
happening in the courtroom has occupied 18-20 hours of our recent
days, leaving us little time to do any reporting for you. We're
hoping to use part of this weeked to catch up...but as I'm sure you
can understand, the case comes first.

Meanwhile, a Northeastern University journalism professor who has
been in the courtroom for the last week or so has written an
editorial which is now available at:

http://www.foxBGHsuit.com/jasw080500.htm

Again, we would appreciate any help from anyone who can help cover
the trial for The BGH Bulletin...and anyone who may like to write an
editorial from wherever you are, that would be welcomed, too.

Thanks for your continuing support and understanding!

You need something similar to G.O.A. the NRA does nothing but compromise time

I'd call it a realistic attitude and please don't infer me to be a coward.

Sorry, most who are not willing to fight for freedom are wimps. As far as
being realistic, I think I am being realistic.

I simply don't see the point in blasting away at the inevitable gun

will one day walk up your sidewalk to ring on your doorbell. Unless of course
you'd
already picked that day to die and wanted to take a few of them out with
you.

I'm not afraid to die, I welcome it, then one is truly free of the suffering

 Besides a little

there are far more of us than them. Our Constitution is plainly written and
our Congress has no right to remove any weapon from our possession-- period.
When you compromise you give them a way in. Compromising our Bill of Rights
was a mistake that needs to be rectified.

I'm sure every time there is another school shooting the
politicians rejoice privately while send public condolences.

This would not happen if there were not any gun-free zones in schools.
Teachers should be armed and trained to protect their students. Getting guns
out of schools is just a socialist lie. These laws didn't prevent the two
kids at Columbine from killing fellow students. If half the teachers had
been armed, the killing would have stopped sooner, but a lower death toll
would not have served the power that be as well.

And by the way, I wouldn't talk about American readiness to fight tyranny.
For instance my fellow compatriots were fighting and DYING in two world wars
long before Americans
entered the war(s). Whoo hoo! America came in WWI in the last friggin year.
In WWII they had to
be attacked before they could work up enough adrenalin to get up courage to
fight and enter the
war. Ya ya... sure sure.. you guys are ready to fight. But only when it suits
you. (or rather the
elite who sends you off to die)

If Europe had gotten their shit together there would have not been any need
for the first war. If the US didn't join in the second war Europe would have
been ruled by Hitler. We had to help because the rest of the wimpy countries
in Europe couldn't handle the Germans. The reason we were in Europe is
simple, Roosevelt put us there, and our concentration should have been in the
Pacific. The Elites have been with us a long time, WWII proves it … Japan
attacks us, so we send the bulk of our troops and equipment to Europe to
fight the Nazi war machine, makes no sense what-so-ever. It wasn't Canada's
fight either unless you consider Canada to be part of the Commonwealth. It's
not like the Germans attacked us.

You can expect America to do the right thing but only after they've
exhausted every other possibility.
~ Winston Churchill~

I guess Churchill thought it was our duty to save England's bacon, he forgets
we severed our ties with the Motherland about two and one half centuries ago
and we owe England nothing at all. Churchill, actually the person in power
before him let Germany gain military strength and didn't do a thing about it
except whine, talk is cheap and means nothing. He should have followed his
own advice and took them out while it was relatively easy.

Winston Churchill: "If you will not fight for the right when you can easily
win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when your victory will be sure
and not so costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight
with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival.
There may be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no chance of
victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."

And you think I believe that my cries for freedom have any effect of deaf
tyrannical ears?
Not in the least. I'm not naive enough to think that. I'm also not

This kind of makes me wonder - How the Vatican Always Wins..what
about Garibaldi and his Red Shirts - they reduced the land of the Vatica
in Rome to a pittance.

That Garibaldi was a freemason and with him rode Madame Helene Blavatsky
- now Truman Capote when Bobby Kennedy was murdered blames the teachings
of Blavatasky for the death of RFK, for little Sirhan who had a family
dating back 1,000 years, and was in Rosicrucian Society, had been
indoctrinated with her works.for she said a "nation can be brought
to its knees and be demoralized by systematic assassination of its
leaders"..so much for voodoo and dark mirror and programmed idiots
under hypnotic drugs - for it is the hypnotic drugs that destroy your
will and you are under control of let us say, a mentor with evil
intentions.

So Vatican always wins? Well I believe there was a God the day the
Pope was shot and he lived and the day Reagan was shot, and he
livedbut neither were really ever the same, were they

Like Wallace and JFK and JFK Jr. and RFK.systematic murder of a
nations leaders

J Edgar Hoover is alleged to not have undersood the paranoia about
murder of JFK; but look at the death of the Princess of Wales - people
who once hated her, felt guilt and hence, paranoic and weeping and great
mourning..

So some say we should remember as in Daniel our Presidents sometimes
have feet of clay, but that Clinton - he has feet of escape artist for
he has survived, torn and tattered.and all the Kings Men will not
put this egghead together again..for the egg cracked from crack?

So the Vatican has been fighting a battle for centuries but maybe now
they see where they have been infiltrated? Tlhe Church of the Catholic
is eternal - you might burn down the building, but not the faith.

This is long interesting item - and this Unitarian Universalist Church -
it was Adlai Stevenson I believe who was gung ho on UN and was
Unitarianhe died at high noon with CIA agent by his side.wife of
Desmond Fitzgerald as I recall who headed up dirty tricks for CIA?

So remember always, JFK was not to have been elected President in 1960
and you see this plan was laid out in advance, for remember who JFK beat
out - was it not Adlai and his liberal leaing friends. Now Adlai was a
gentleman, and maybe sincere but this is a whole new ball game now - no
place for gentlemen for even Bush the father is going to take off his
gloves...little late for that.

But JFK got in by winning the votes and he beat out this CFR bunch; do
you think a Catholic like JFK would push for homosexuality - he would
have not condoned this stuff in the schools, for when he was killed
everything turned dirty.

Look how long ago this plan was drawn up but it was not drawn up for
JFKthis was Adlai Stevenson crap, communist crap, to bring down a
great nation.but further down in this article you see where they
made demands that boy scouts admit homosexual leaders to their
midstthis is communism in its rankest form, for you know this and
the civil rights movement was planned by these same people - to cause a
Civil War and now they try again for this war in America...

So Supreme Court rules Boy Scouts make their own appointments and may
exclude those who do not live up to their standards..

Little Barney Franks and his house of male prostitution? Where do you
think kids learn this stuff? Now it is considered the "in thing" to do
because garbage movie stars promote same on tv? Garbage is, as garbage
does.

So 1961 was the beginning and JFK upset their apple cart for he was not
to be the Democrat Party candidate..he beat he bastards but the
best laid plans of mice and men were laid out long before he was elected
President for this was the NWO and CFR - and JFK and RFK and Reagan and
even little John John wanted no part aof that treasonous sick bunch.

So now they throw the homosexuals at us..AIDS and all - and note no
discrimination against bi sexuals who bring home disease to spouse and
you wonder why people who are innocent have acquired immune deficiency?

Throw the bums out.and how the hell did an pervert engaged in a male
prostitution ring get elected to such a high office? Welll seems maybe
same reason Janet Reno put in as head of the Justice Department?

I know how they play the game...they invite everybody in.those
who will submit to pieces of silver

This agenda was done well in advance for the likes of Adlai Stevenson

with military spending reductions and with the result of associated reductions
in military readiness overall. After the article is a capsulised version of
the expenditures from the late 80ies through the mid 90ies (the site has ALL
the pertinent data), showing the start of the decline in spending as early as
1991. Later years' expenditures are developed based on previous years'

which Shelton is referring. AER

BILL GERTZ
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
Aug 05, 2000br
General says Bush wrong on readiness

President Clinton's top military adviser yesterday defended the Army against
charges that two of its divisions are not combat ready, but acknowledged the
military is facing preparedness problems.

Gen. Henry H. Shelton said following a speech in Los Angeles that all U.S. Army
divisions are set for combat.

"But that doesn't mean that everything is the way we would all like to have
it," the four-star general said to the Town Hall of Los Angeles, a public-
affairs group.

But he added that there are "some readiness shortfalls" that will not be fixed
quickly. "Once readiness starts down, you don't just turn it around overnight."
Gen. Shelton was responding to criticism leveled during the presidential-
nomination acceptance speech by Texas Gov. George W. Bush on Thursday in
Philadelphia.

"If called on by the commander in chief today, two entire divisions of the Army
would have to report: `Not ready for duty, sir.' " Mr. Bush said in his speech.
Gen. Shelton acknowledged that the divisions to which Mr. Bush referred - the
1st Infantry Division and the 10th Mountain Division - had reported last fall
that they were not ready for war.

But the Army had "jumped right on top of that" and brought them back to combat
readiness, Gen. Shelton said.

Mr. Bush stood by his criticisms yesterday in an interview on CNN.

"Last November, there was a report that said two divisions were not ready for
combat," he said. "If the Army, in fact, changes its tune from that report . .
. then they need to let the country know."

Pentagon spokesman Kenneth Bacon gave media interviews yesterday to rebut Mr.
Bush's charges, causing the Republican presidential nominee to question the
timing of any new information.

"I am amazed that they would put out a statement right after our convention,"
Mr. Bush told CNN. "I'm curious why it took them this long to say they were
combat-ready after a report last November said they weren't."

Mr. Bush also reiterated other parts of his criticisms.

"We've seen an Apache helicopter squad go to Kosovo, not ready for combat," he
said. "Recruitment goals are not being met. . . . Those who follow the military
know morale is dangerously low."

Gen. Shelton acknowledged that cuts in military budgets and personnel in the
past decade have taxed the military.

Spending and resources have been cut 40 percent, while worldwide commitments
have increased 300 percent, he said.

"We are doing much more than we were doing 10 years ago, and we are doing it
with much less," he said.

Army officials have said the not-ready designation for the two divisions grew
from each division having one brigade, up to half its troops, tied up in the
Clinton administration's "humanitarian" interventions in Bosnia-Herzegovina and
Kosovo.

In an interview with Reuters news agency, Mr. Bacon said spending on military
pay, benefits, weapons and training was now rising and morale was improving.
"We have increased military pay and benefits and increased money for arms
procurement and training," he said. "Morale is high, and the best sign of that
is that retention [of current soldiers] is going up and the recruiting problem
that we faced last year has largely been repaired."

In the past year, an Army Research Institute survey and a Center for Strategic
and International Studies study based on interviews with 12,000 military
personnel have both documented slipping morale in recent years.

Lethal superbug at large in Britain
By Mark Gould
6 August 2000

A drug-resistant superbug which last year killed more than 5,000 hospital
patients has "escaped" into the community and is believed to be infecting
thousands of people.

Hospitals this week will start a £31m campaign to improve hygiene in an attempt
to curb the spread of methicillinresistant staphylococcus (MRSA), which last
year cost the NHS more than £1bn to treat. Last night, however, a government
microbiologist, Dr Peder Nielsen, told the Independent on Sunday that MRSA was
now at large outside hospitals.

Dr Nielsen, who is director of the Peterborough branch of the Public Health
Service Laboratory, and a consultant microbiologist at Peterborough Hospitals
trust, said 54 per cent of all new cases of MRSA were being picked up by GPs.
He said there was now a "reservoir of infection" in the community that was "a
threat to hospitals".

MRSA eats into the flesh of wounds or enters the body via medical equipment
such as drips and catheters. In many cases surgery is required to remove
infected tissue. The disease struck at least 10,100 people in the UK last year
and killed more than 5,000.

Excessive use of antibiotics has led to the rise of MRSA, so named because of
its resistance to methicillin. The bug is now impervious to a range of
antibiotics and can only be treated with powerful lastline-of-defence drugs.

Cases in the Peterborough area rose from five in 1994 to 135 in 1998, according
to Dr Nielsen. A quarter of these cases were in nursing homes where large
groups of elderly people were grouped together. The remaining 75 per cent of
cases were scattered across all ages and all parts of the community.

Although his study is Peterborough-based, Dr Nielsen said he had "no doubt
whatsoever" that his findings would be replicated across the UK.

Dr Chris Butler, senior lecturer in general practice at the University of Wales
College of Medicine, who is an expert in community infection, said the results
were "another little bit of evidence that we are sitting on a timebomb".

Dr Butler said that both patients and doctors needed to use antibiotics
sensibly. "Evidence shows that 80 per cent of antibiotics are prescribed in GP
surgeries and that half of these prescriptions are unnecessary," he said.

In the UK, Dr Nielsen said, the rise in MRSA in the community was a result of
faster hospital discharge, home care for cancer patients, and home kidney
dialysis. GPs were also now more aware of the disease.

However, Dr Barry Cookson, of the Central Public Health Laboratory, said: "It
is not a great risk to healthy people and simple hygiene procedures such as
proper handwashing can keep it at bay."

In the USA, MRSA has claimed the lives of four children in the past 18 months.

Two of these lived in rural American Indian communities and two were white
children from big cities. None of the victims had been in contact with
hospitals.

The Centre for Disease Control in Atlanta subsequently checked 112 patients
with infections and found that more than half had MRSA. Only a quarter of the
MRSA patients had been in hospital or long-term care.

American experts do not know how the children were infected. One theory is that
the bacteria mutated into a form that can lie dormant in the community and
attack vulnerable people opportunistically.

Dr Nielsen will publish his findings in the British Medical Journal in the
autumn.

came to power, Hamburg-Amerika stopped payment to the bondholders based on
an order issued by Hitler, but actually arranged by John Foster Dulles and
his friend Hjalmar Schacht, a German who had grown up in the U.S. and been

Hitler's finance minister.

Joseph Chaitkin filed suit in New York in 1934 on behalf of his clients and
organized a boycott against trading with the new German government. His
efforts were stifled by a number of investment bankers operating in the
United States, ostensibly American patriots, but later accused of traders

After reading the book, I asked myself: "What is the best way to actually
remove the veil that preserves the secrecy around the investments managed by
the investment bank of Brown Brothers Harriman?" Is there anything I can do
to find out what the real truth is? After learning of this alleged
conspiracy which took place between the two world wars, and which was
continued after World War II by the rise to power of both Dulles brothers
and their creation of the Central Intelligence Agency, it seemed that the
only way to learn the truth about whether the same thing that Harriman and
Bush were accused of at that time is continuing today is to follow the
advice of the secretive "Deep Throat" and "follow the money." Thanks to
the internet, all of us can do the same thing in the privacy of our own
homes and offices.

A few years ago I downloaded a list of all the partners of Brown Brothers
Harriman Co. from a university computer. Recently I have been taking each
name and running it through the recorded filings which are accessible
through the SEC Edgar sites on the internet.

Let's take one of those names and explore what we find. It's an historical
name passed down through the generations--Elbridge T. Gerry--a family name
which was around even before E.H. Harriman became a household word. The
first Elbridge T. Gerry (a merchant shipper) was a signer of the
Declaration of Independence and took a seat at the Continental Congress in
1776, served until 1785, and then retired to Cambridge, Mass. He was
elected governor of Massachusetts in 1810 and, in 1813, was elected as
James Madison's vice-president, though he died a year later. He had three
sons and four daughters.
(see http://www.jmu.edu/madison/gerry.htm ).

His grandson "Commodore" Elbridge Thomas Gerry, 1837-1927, was a reformer. A
position as legal advisor to the American Society for the Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals led to his founding (1875), with the help of Henry Bergh,
the New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (sometimes
called the Gerry Society). He devoted most of his life to this cause, which
became national in scope. He and his wife, Louisa M. Gerry had two sons
named after wealthy New Yorkers, Peter Goelet and Robert Livingston, and
two daughters, Angelica and Francis.
(see http://www.scripophily.net/scripophily/masvotbil.html )

Robert Livingston Gerry married Cornelia Harriman (daughter of railroad
tycoon E.H. Harriman) in March 1908, and in 1912 built an estate, known as
Aknusti on their 2,000 acre property in Delaware County, New York. They had
four sons - Elbridge T., Robert L., and twins Henry and Edward. (see
http://www.hartwick.edu/library/archives/gerry/moreinfo.html )

In 1939 their son, Edward H. Gerry, married Martha Botts Farish -- the
daughter of William Stamps Farish, founder of Humble Oil in Houston.
Cornelia Harriman was the sister of Averill. Edward's brother Elbridge, the
eldest, born in 1908, held general partnerships in the banking firms Brown
Brothers Harriman Company, and Gerry Brothers Company, and was a
well-known philanthropist, notable polo player, avid participant in harness
racing, and breeder of champion horse racers. In 1932 he married Marjorie
Kane, daughter of John P. Kane. They had two sons, Elbridge T. Jr. and Peter
G. II, and a daughter Marjorie. Elbridge Gerry, Sr. died February 26, 1999.
Elbridge T. Jr. has assumed the role as partner in the Brown Brothers
Harriman Co. limited partnership.

The Edward Gerrys had four children including Mrs. Cornelia Corbett (owner
of American Soccer League team--Tampa Bay Rowdies) [note #1 below] and
William F. Gerry, and have been heavily involved in horse-breeding. The
Farish family genealogy shows that the family came to Virginia from
Cumberland, England shortly after 1700, relocating to Mississippi a few
generations

[CTRL] TOXIC WARFARE AGAINST HUMANITY - NETWORK FOR 17 AUGUST

2000-08-06 Thread MICHAEL SPITZER

THIS WAS ON THE NET BACK IN 1999 !!!

Subject: U.S. Military Conducting TOXIC
Biological-Chemical Warfare Against Civilians

For the past 3 weeks I have been receiving first hand reports of
U.S. Military jets spraying toxic substances over populate urban
areas testing the effectiveness of their biological and chemical
warfare, protective warfare and monitoring equipment. The
substances are supposedly "harmless" simulates which have
extremely toxic effects of their own. To date [some time in
1999], literally thousands of civilians have been made very sick
mostly with respiratory illnesses, distress and even scores of
deaths.

A MOUNTAIN OF EVIDENCE SUGGESTS THOSE WHO WOULD BE OUR MASTERS
ARE TIRED OF PRETENDING THAT WE ARE FREE

In the last two months, there have been changes in the spraying
program that everyone should be aware of.

First, the intensity and frequency of spraying, which I believe
is the NSA/CIA project SAMSON, has increased rather dramatically
in those areas you would think of as hot spots. As a personal
example, we had been hit twice the week before in the county
north of Houston, and on the day before Christmas Eve we were
literally plastered from dawn to dusk. Christmas Day included the
massive spraying of Houston's western areas and the following
day, Sunday, was marked by an equally massive spraying of the
city's southern extensions almost a third of the way to Galveston
on the Gulf coast.

Second, the periodic testing of spray effectiveness by
disseminating lab-modified micro-organisms has shifted to a
nastier phase.

Still generally confined to various types of "flu-like" symptoms,
the effects seem more incapacitating. They are both more severe
and longer lasting. Reports from southern California and Nevada
are examples of recent "outbreaks". I sense a change here, that
suggests a shift from measuring the effectiveness of the spraying
program, to more serious testing of the particular bugs that may
be used to suppress or immobilize populations as needed.
Unfortunately, I'm quite confident that there is much nastier
stuff available than what we've seen so far.

Remember that although most people recover from these things,
there is a significant mortality rate among the elderly, the very
young, and those with challenged immune systems. This number was
already over 10,000 in April [1999]. If and when the world ever
returns to normal, everyone involved in this program from top to
bottom should be hung for murder, after a fair trail or
reasonable facsimile.

If the program continues in the direction that seems likely,
mortality rates may go much higher. I cannot help but remember
the reporting last spring of a federal purchase order for three
million body bags which no one was willing to deny or even
discuss. This suggests the best possible plan for individuals is
do whatever it takes to boost their immune systems, and consider
protective measures such as the "surgical masks" with a
filtration rating of P95 or higher if they don't already have
something more substantial.

Third, and finally, the spraying program is shifting away from
jet fuel as the liquid "carrier" for whatever they want to spray.
Jet fuel greatly simplified the entire logistic picture for the
program. It is perfectly normal for refuelling tankers to load
it, it is available everywhere, and you pay for it with an
anonymous government credit card. And, of course, the Ethylene
Dibromide is already included as an additive at no extra charge.
In August, however, we began observing the occasional visit of a
tanker that had apparently loaded up with water. This is
essentially the same plane you are used to seeing, flying at the
same low altitude, with the same spray plume boiling out from
tail or twin plumes that bow outward around the aircraft before
they come together again a short distance back. The only
difference is that while the spray widens out and looks like it
might form the typical chemtrail, it simply vanishes a mile or
two behind the aircraft.

To those who have never observed the usual spraying, the only
thing they will notice is that the sprayed material dissipates
so, unless they realize this guy needs to be four miles higher to
freeze jet exhaust, they will assume it is a normal contrail.
In fact, the new spray is dramatically more visible to the naked
eye. Sunlight from the side lights it up like a roman candle.
If he's up there and you are looking - you absolutely can't miss
it.

It is possible that the tanker is spraying straight Ethylene
Dibromide as a liquid. Although this pesticide was totally
banned, it is now available by the ton since it became a jet fuel
additive. My allergy response is the same, but I can't help but
worry that there is something new there that I'm not detecting.
Something to accelerate the process? We've often seem one of
these guys show up at the end of a spray day, when they are
really spectacular in the rays of the setting sun. It seemed
most likely

PRAGUE, Aug 2 (AFP) - Anti-globalization activists staged a symbolic protest
Wednesday against the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and
World Bank scheduled in Prague next month.
A football match on the Old Town Square in the heart of the Czech capital
pitted three "global" players -- dressed up as McDonalds, Shell and Phillip
Morris -- against a worker, a farmer and a woman. With the help of a
referee representing the IMF and World Bank, the three global giants easily
won. The protest was the first in a series planned by the Initiative
Against Economomic Globalization (INPEG) in the run-up to the September
21-29 meetings in the Czech capitals.
Some 15-20,000 demonstrators are expected to descend on the Czech capital
for the IMF/World Bank meetings. Some 11,000 police equipped with riot gear
are to be deployed in September to protect the thousands of ministers, bank
chiefs and top officials from dozens of countries attending the Prague
 meeting.
The campaign, entitled "Fifty-five years of oppression by the International
Monetary Fund and the World Bank is enough," will organize protests every 10
days or so, said spokeswoman Alice Dvorska. She said the symbolic football
match reflects the way financial institutions "favor profits for
multinationals to the detriment of people and the environment."
A number of foreign activists are already in Prague coordinating protest
 action, according to organizers.

[CTRL] [surfingtheapocalypse] Now Counting Five Solar Systems With Planets

2000-08-06 Thread DIG alfred webre

In a message dated 00-08-06 21:50:25 EDT, you write:

Now Counting Five Solar Systems With Planets
 http://www.farshore.force9.co.uk/n_plan02.htm

[Original headline: New planets speed up search for alien life]
Earth and its fellow planets are not alone. Astronomers have found solar
systems around five other stars - and believe that they are on the verge
of finding many more. The discovery is based on a survey of 1,100 stars,
a tiny fraction of those visible from Earth, suggesting that many others
will also be found to have planetary systems.
The news - to be announced in Manchester tomorrow at the International
Astronomical Union's conference on extra-solar planetary systems - will
delight the growing band of scientists who believe life will one day be
 found on other planets.

Andrew Collier Cameron, an astronomer at the University of St Andrews,
whose team last year detected light directly from an extra-solar planet,
said the discovery of new planetary systems was a landmark.

"We have found lots of single planets but theory predicts that once one
has formed, it should destabilise other rubble orbiting a star. This
would prompt the formation of more planets - so finding multi-planet
systems confirms our vision of how solar systems form."

The latest research was done by Debra Fischer at the University of
California, Berkeley, who studied 12 of the 44 stars already known to
have orbiting planets. In each system the planet was a large gas giant
similar to Jupiter and hundreds of times bigger than Earth.

All the planets had elliptical orbits that tugged their parent stars
back and forth, changing the quality of the light they emitted. She
found, however, that five stars, including 55 Cancri and HD 38529,
showed further fluctuations whose most likely cause was the pull from a
 second planet.

The research will be presented by Geoffrey Marcy, professor of astronomy
at UC Berkeley, and Paul Butler, an astronomer at the Carnegie
Institution of Washington, who will also announce the discovery of three
 new stars with extrasolar planets.

The conference will also hear of attempts to analyse the atmosphere
 around another planet.

David Charbonneau, of the Harvard-Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics,
has made an intensive study of a star known as HD 209458, which has a
massive planet whose orbit, viewed from Earth, takes it across the face
 of its star.

Some of the light from the star should, in theory, be altered by passing
through the planet's atmosphere. The planet is highly hostile to life,
with a surface temperature estimated at 1,200C and an atmosphere
probably comprising hydrogen and gaseous sodium.

However, showing such analysis can work would pave the way for detecting
oxygen and carbon dioxide - the signs of life - on other planets.

Sex Slaves! (and Other Tales From Hillary¹s Campaign Finance Report)
Low Friends in High Places
by Ward Harkavy

Like a Norma Rae, U.S. Senate candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton captured the
official support of the New York State AFL-CIO last week. But like the first
lady of Wal-Mart that she actually is, Clinton has close ties to anti-labor
forces, according to her newly released campaign-finance report.
But there's something for everybody‹including privacy advocates and those
battling racial discrimination‹to dislike in a campaign that raised $4.8
million in just the past three months while spending $5.5 million. And her
enemies in the vast right-wing conspiracy will be happy to find out that her
contributors include a former United States senator linked to a current
Arkansas scandal involving purported Chinese sex slaves.
Here are some lowlights from Clinton's July 15 quarterly report.

The Senator Who Won't Leave
David Pryor, a longtime buddy of the Clintons and former senator and
Arkansas governor, hasn't been a member of Congress since 1996, but he's
still doling out campaign contributions from his David Pryor for U.S. Senate
Committee. On May 8, his committee gave $1000 to Hillary's campaign‹the day
after yet another ex-senator from Arkansas, Dale Bumpers, also gave Hillary
$1000.
But that's probably the last thing on Pryor's mind now. David J. Jones, a
former Arkansas TV mogul, is on trial in federal court in Little Rock for
allegedly importing Chinese women for sexual purposes while rounding up
favorable treatment for them from immigration officials and other people in
government. The indictment doesn't name the "public officials" who wrote
letters for Jones or offered other aid, according to a recent story in the
Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. However, the paper reports that court documents
have named Pryor, who calls Jones a good friend, as an official from whom
Jones sought help in 1992, and Pryor has told reporters that he may be
called as a witness.
As if that's not enough to keep the pensioned ex-senator scrambling, Pryor
founded the Clinton Legal Expense Trust, which has retired "more than half"
of the first family's $11 million legal debt, according to news reports. And
he's a trustee of the Clinton Presidential Library, a Little Rock project
that has sparked jeers and protests over its secretive funding and free use
of public land.
All of which will give Pryor plenty to talk about starting next month, when
he takes over as director of the Institute of Politics at the John F.
Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. He was a fellow in the program last
year but dropped out in midsemester. Pryor told the Arkansas
Democrat-Gazette in April that he hopes his new job will enable him to help
combat some of the cynicism about politicians' thirst for power and personal
gain that causes young people to drop out of the political system. "If I can
have even a very, very minor role in helping reverse that trend, I think
that's what it's all about," he said.
Look for Pryor to have a very, very minor role in reversing that trend.
Labor Pains
The infamous Dr. Allan Zarkin carved his initials on the belly of an
obstetrics patient at Beth Israel Medical Center, and the hospital was fined
$14,000 by state health officials, but patients and workers at Beth Israel
have reason to worry about other slashes.
Last month, officials of Continuum Health Partners, owner of Beth Israel and
of St. Luke's in Harlem, pleaded poverty and announced layoffs. Newspaper
reports said the cuts, strongly protested by Local 1199 workers, likely will
have the most impact on obstetrical services for the poor.
Luckily, Continuum had enough money to ship $2000 to Hillary Clinton's
campaign on May 2.
The Prying Game
Hillary Clinton, who has so far rarely granted interviews in the Senate race
and has stoutly defended her family's privacy, would face some tough
decisions in Congress regarding the ever increasing electronic snooping into
Americans' business by private companies collecting data. But as a former
board member of Wal-Mart and hobnobber with corporate types, she's already
friendly with Acxiom Corporation, referred to recently as "the largest
data-mining company in America." Its executives have been heavy supporters
of Democrats, including Bill Clinton.
Acxiom, based in Little Rock, does nearly $1 billion worth of business a
year by performing such tasks as purchasing information about unwitting
consumers and selling it to debt collectors and other businesses. Last
month, however, the Federal Trade Commission issued regulations cracking
down on the trade in such data. "Congress simply

[CTRL] THE TED.GUNDERSON DATA DUMP!

2000-08-06 Thread Michael Pugliese

THE TEDhttp://www.newsmakingnews.com/gunderson.htm

THE TED (EX? FBI AGENT?) GUNDERSON DATA DUMP!
Who is this "former" FBI agent who shows up every time a woman and her
children are in peril because of Satanists or child molesters? And has
Gunderson ever provided professional investigative services which assisted a
prosecutor to convict a pedophile, drug dealer or con artist of a crime
after trial by jury?
WHO IS THIS TED GUNDERSON, WHO FRAMED, TRIED AND SENTENCED, ART BELL
WITHOUT A TRIAL!
ART BELL RETIRES!
BUT BELL HAS SUED GUNDERSON? STAY TUNED!
On April 1st, 2000, in the second hour of his talk radio program hearing by
15 million fans, Art Bell announced his retirement from radio broadcasting.
Art Bell's announcement:
In order that you all understand the gravity of the announcement I'm about
to make, it's going to be necessary for me to repeat some very painful
events that have occurred to my family over the past several years.

On May 16th of the year 1997, my son, Art Bell IV, was kidnapped,
transported across state lines and raped by a substitute teacher from his
own high school. The assailant was HIV positive. My son was a minor. He was
only 16 years old at the time.

The teacher involved was tried, convicted and is now serving a life
sentence. My son though, as you might imagine, was sent into a
psychological tailspin which continues to this very day. We are trying very
very hard to help him recover and lead a more normal life. Some positive
events have occurred toward that end and your prayers are welcome. Please
keep them coming.

While the police work and the trial of my son's assailant were underway,
difficult as it was for me to continue my daily radio programs, I did so.
Because my son was a minor at the time of the crime, the records were
sealed, his name was not made public, something our society does to protect
its own, its future, its young people.

As our family was working through this trauma in private, an event beyond
all bounds of decency and humanity occurred. On December 9th of 1997, just
a few months after my son's ordeal, my own began. Ted Gunderson, a retired
FBI agent, along with David Hinkson and the assistance of others, aired a
broadcast which - incredibly, absolutely incredibly - accused me of
committing the very same crime my son had suffered, child molestation. The
program further stated that I had paid
to cover up an indictment in Nye County, Nevada, my home. It further urged
listeners to call me "on air" and ask if I had been indicted. Of course,
these accusations were entirely false. But, never the less the calls poured
into my open line unscreened program, asking if this was true. I had no
choice but to block out all these calls and keep my silence for fear of my
son's situation becoming public. This broadcast was made on WWCR, world wide
short-wave radio, in Nashville, Tennessee. This station has been described
by newspapers and civic minded organizations as one of the country's leading
broadcasters of hate radio. The individuals, WWCR and its sister-station
WNQM, In addition to broadcasting these proponents of hate and violence,
this radio station has consciously decided not to spend money on a delay
switch, not to conduct a careful background check of the people it places
on the air and to allow individuals to say almost anything they want in
foreign languages without having staff on duty who can even understand what
they are saying.

In my opinion, WWCR is one of the most irresponsible stations permitted to
broadcast over the airwaves of this country.

Now the fallout from that broadcast has been unbelievable. Besides the
unrelenting accusatory calls, others repeated this false rumor as though it
was fact, resulting in several related lawsuits. Many of you may have heard
my defense played out on the airwaves and the Internet.

No matter how hard I have tried to set the record straight, my torment and
that of my family continues. Recently, a radio host in Toronto, Canada
opened his morning show with the words "I am Art Bell and I molest little
children". All of this sent me into a psychological tailspin. I felt I had
been dealt a blow I might not recover from. Still I continued my nightly
broadcasts as best I could.

In October of 1998, my son came to a crisis point, a situation so critical
that nothing but my full-time attention would help. So, on that fateful day,
October 13th of 1998, I resigned on air with no intention of returning. But
thanks to the efforts of my network, my best friend Alan Corbeth, Kraig
Kitchin (CEO of Premiere Networks) and Randy Micheals [CEO of Clear
Channel], I was able to return, but the pressure of having to defend myself
against baseless, vile claims that I was a
child molester eventually forced me to reduce my on air hours. Why the
individuals behind the December 9, 1997 broadcast by WWCR decided to make
such a patently false and harmful broadcast remains for the courts to
decide. A major moment in

doing on site, in person, gum shoe work.

Volunteers?

From: "Ben Stone" [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I remember the bad old days before the 100 a day posting limit, when there
were one or more provocateurs
who posted dozens of messages from a white-power perspective, then when
they were criticised posted
hundreds more defending themselves and abusing the idiots who insisted on
posting smart-alec one line
replies. I believe when the 100 a day limit was brought in a 10 post per
subscriber per day was also
brought in. Maybe this should be re-instituted?

It is still in effect, altho it's a 7-per-day limit, not 10. It's just that
Spitzer has been granted the right to post unlimited
number of posts per day, which isn't fair to the rest of us.

No one would bitch if he'd send perhaps 10 to 15, but my God the other day I
had to delete almost 50 of them from him...

Just some thoughts from someone who recently rejoined the list after about
2 years away.

Then you wouldn't know that we just went through this same thing about 2
months ago, with a promise that it wouldn't happen
again...ha!

BTW maybe Kris Millegan could take some criticism in this respect? Out of
all the stuff (he/she?) posts,
much of it my browser won't let me read becasue it has attachments

While I have the ability to read it, I don't, because as a matter of
principal I don't read email attachments because of the chance
they contain a virus.

and a lot of it could be condensed into one page with a bunch of links and
maybe a short description.

A very good suggestion.
