I reworked an AC-4 with the Heathkit shop kit a couple of years ago. It
worked just fine and took me about 3 hours or so to complete taking my
time. The Hayseed kit may be easier since they use elecrolytic cans
with new caps inside so they are probably a unit for unit

I had the same issue with my T4X; it turned out to be the AC-4. As
Richard mentioned, use a scope or have a ham with a spectrum scope watch
your signal on key down. I installed the Heathkit shop PS kit since it
was long overdue anyway.

I turned on the R4C to discover that audio was only being output in the AM
mode. The trouble turned out to be the BFO device, Q5, an NPN device 2N3394.
I replaced it with a 2NA and we're back in business. I have not seen this

The D 104 I use currently works well with the 4 C line and the TR-7. Like the
other guys, I rewired the mic and bypassed the preamp in the base of the stand.

I notice a drastic power output (TR7) reduction when VSWR is very
slight. i.e. 1.5.1 for example. On an MN 4 it usually puts out around 120
