Can you define "right" here?

What are the name of the fields in DXKeeper to do it "right"?
DXKeeper is a much newer program than DX4WIN and I guess that there are some
extra fields in DXKeeper that DX4WIN does not have.

[Dx4win] QO-100 Satellite QSL label?

2021-07-30 Thread OZ0J Joe
Hi

OX3LX has put Greenland on the QO-100 "map" and worked some QO-100 satellite
QSOs. I am the QSL MGR and will make the paper QSL cards.

According to the information, I have received, I need to type up- and
downlink QRG on the QSL card. Is there any way, I can print the up- and
downlink QRG on e.g. a QSL label? And if so, in which field in DX4WIN do I
put in the information? I can put it in as a group but I am looking for
another solution.

Re: [Dx4win] alerts

2021-06-15 Thread OZ0J Joe
I have not found the solution in version 9. I guess that the spot on 50313
(EY8MM) is shown SSB? And the spot will be shown SSB, because the spotter has
not put in FT8 in the note field.

If the problem should be solved, I guess that there must be a band plan for
e.g. DIGI including FT4, FT8 etc. build into DX4WIN. I am not sure whatever
that is possible.

Re: [Dx4win] "e-QSL --> DX4WIN"

2020-06-05 Thread OZ0J Joe
You could also decide only to whose that have sent eQSL to you. If so you do
this:

Logon to eQSL and choose inbox
In the bottom of the page find "download the entire InBox" and click on download
In the next windows RIGHT click on the ADI file and "Safe link as" (I am on a
Danish browser, but I guess this is the English menu)
Safe the file where you can find it again

Now open DX4WIN (take a backup of your DX4WIN log file before you continue)
Open your log and choose eQSL -> confirm eQSL using ADIF file
Find your file from above and choose it.

Now press F8 and type Y in the cfm field right to the eQSL date field. Press
ENTER
Go to eQSL -> Set eQSL upload flag and press YES
Go to eQSL -> Export to eQSL and press YES to use the filter
Save this file and upload it to eQSL

If you want to make your inbox in eQSL smaller, you can do this (also if you
upload the entire log):

Then go back to eQSL and choose InBox. Here you can click on the numbers right
to the lines e.g. 10M (or the total in the bottom)
Now you can see all the QSOs in your inbox from others. Go to the bottom and
choose "check all" -> "move checked eQSL to archive"
eQSL will now move all QSLs that match - like LoTW but that is in the
background.

You can only see the inbox with QSLs if the number is below 1.000. If all
numbers are > 1000, you have to set some filter in the bottom of the inbox.

I suggest to upload the entire log.

You need to be sure that every QSO has eQSL=Y

To do this:

In QSO window: eQSL>Clear eqsl upload date

and then eQSL>Set eqsl upload flag

This will make all the QSOs to be ready for uploading

If you want to upload only a part, you need to make a search between dates:

Be sure that in file>preferences>QSO the QSO Date=Range

Then fit F8 and write the 2 dates (start and end)

and then the above procedure.

Then eQSL>Export to eqsl. Name the file and upload it to eqsl.

You will have been asked if you want to clear flags, etc.

Answer yes... (this will write the upload to eqsl date in you log and will set
the eqsl flag to N.

Thanks to ON4AOI and OZ4O for leading me to the "state" DC from a contest.

I did found the QSO and removed DC in the state. The strange is that the QSO
is on 15M CW. The WAS report inform me that the "31" state is on 17M phone.

"31" is still in the bottom of the WAS Report, but now with no QSOs.

[Dx4win] WAS Report Counts 51 States

2020-04-09 Thread OZ0J Joe
Hi all

I am running DX4WIN version 9 and it is updated to latest version.

The WAS report has decided to count 51 states. According to the WAS listing
report the 51. State is "31" and the mode is IMG.

I have exported the whole logbook to Excel and looked through all QSOs with and
without a US state. I did not found the state "31"

I have looked in the report DXCC listing and WAS listing for the "IMG" mode and
also found nothing.

I have searched for "31" in the state field.

So far nothing found.

How do I find the state "31" and removed it?
Or is it the WAS report that is corrupt? If so how do I reinstall that.

BTW I have been on DX4WIN since approx. 2003 coming from VQLog. I do not use
DX4WIN to log QSOs live, I only use DX4WIN to update my log (mixed of 3 Danish
call signs). As long as the regular updates are coming in, I have no plans to
start all over with a new logging program, no matter the "things" that are
missing in the DX4WIN of today.

However, I miss the update file from version 8, because I put that program in
as a shortcut to the Windows start up menu. Now I have to remember to update
DX4WIN myself.

Stay safe.

Hi all
To the developper team,
Can we caress the hope of having next release to allow dX4Win to
interoperate with WSJT/JTDX for direct logging, automatic upload to ClubLog,
automatic/easy procedure to upload/download to/from LoTW.
LoTW/ aand Clublog operation has an application that works well with other
logging f=programs : it is called L32LogSync. Could something equivalent be
expected ?

I hope to get an answer, as many users I am sure would love thse to be
imlemented.

Re: [Dx4win] Worked all states?

2020-01-01 Thread OZ0J Joe
Try  Report -> WAS > listing > band = 10 meter

Do you have ND as S og C in this report?

If you have try this:

In the QSO window press F8 and search with these details

Band = 10 M
State = ND

Then you have the QSOs on 10M locked with ND only

In the bottom of the QSO windows below eQSL you have the permissions for the
main awards. Here you have to see all the searched QSOs and find out
whatever there is a S or C in the column WAS.

If you cannot see these fields below the eQSL line, press F5 one or more
times.

[Dx4win] WAZ update in DX4WIN

2019-12-27 Thread OZ0J Joe
Hi

After running the WAZ report I found out that my WAZ is not correctly
updated automatically.

E.g. I have in 2018 worked JA on 160M FT8. I have a QSO confirmed on paper
QSL and in LoTW. In the bottom of the QSL window there is a S (submit) in
DXCC (band) and WPX. There is no S in WAZ.

I guess this is not the only CQ Zone that is confirmed but not updated in

though the log and do that myself?

I have tried erasing the QSO and entering it again, I get the same issue.

Re: [Dx4win] Need help on Upload to LoTW

2019-10-21 Thread OZ0J Joe
Dick,

In DX4WIN you have to do this (filter or not)

Set Y in the LoTW box below the Label (and left of the date field) for those
QSOs, you want to upload
Now press F8 and type Y in the LoTW box left to the date - press ENTER
Go to LoTW in the menu at the top and choose "Clear LoTW upload date"

Now you are ready to EXPORT an ADIF file to TQSL

Go to LoTW in the menu at the top and choose "Export to LoTW"

Safe the file and REMEMBER where you have put it. I put my file in the folder
"download" and give it my call sign.

Accept to "clear LoTW ..." in DX4WIN. Now your QSOs has a new LoTW upload date
and LoTW mark is N (the field left to the LoTW date)

In TQSL you choose the icon "Sign a log and upload ..." in the upper left
corner.
Find your file and choose it.
Not choose your station data (if you have more than one) and sign the file with
the call that belongs to the ADIF file.

BTW you cannot upload too many QSOs to LoTW. You only have to exclude duplets
(TQSL informs you if duplets are included) and upload the rest.

Re: [Dx4win] IOTA QSO CSV file

2019-05-04 Thread OZ0J Joe
On Sun, Apr 28, 2019 at 6:25 PM Bud Governale W3LL asked:

-> Load an IOTA QSO CSV file to automatically select all IOTA references
that you have not worked yet.

Bud,

You don't use IOTA CSV file from DX4WIN. I have just tried
https://hamalert.org/ and here it is how it works:

1) create an account at https://www.iota-world.org
2) go to "My IOTA" and add your worked/confirmed IOTAs. You can get many
IOTAs if you have a https://clublog.org account- You need an ADIF file from
DX4WIN (File -> Import/Export -> Export -> ADIF)
3) In HamAlert account connect Clublog to HamAlert via a Clublog Application
Key. See HELP in HamAlert how to do that
4) After you have added all your worked/confirmed IOTAs, go to
https://www.iota-world.org -> MY IOTA and choose "Download QSOs". Save the
file
5) In HamAlert choose Trigger -> IOTA and HERE you upload the CSV downloaded
in #4 above

I have just uploaded my IOTA QSOs and the worked are not marked in the
HamAlert trigger.

Re: [Dx4win] DX4Win Import Help

2018-10-29 Thread OZ0J Joe
" I would like to import that logfile into my station log but DX4Win says
that there are no files in my \save directory"

Is it the DX4WIN file you are looking for there?
Or is it the contest log file you try to find there?

Depending on your contest log program, you have to save an ADIF file
somewhere. That ADIF file can be imported to DX4WIN via the menu File ->
Import/export and in the new box File -> Import (be sure that you have
marked ADIF in the first line).

Please write again with more details.

Re: [Dx4win] Adding Groups to exported ADIF file ?

2018-08-04 Thread OZ0J Joe
I have tried a little bit, but as far as I can see it is not possible to add
new fields to the ADIF file in DX4WIN.

As SV1DPI suggest export them one by one using the group number field.

If you do NOT use the "Note for this QSO" field you can change the field to
e.g. the group name. Then you can export to ADIF and in the "notes" field you
have your comment.

Possibly you can not do this but you can do a search (F8) for a specific group
and after this File>Export in ADIF only this group. You can do it and produce
different adif files for any of the groups you need.

Not sure where bug reports go, so I'll try here...

I periodically print out my log as a backup (also it's nice to have for
a quick scan sometimes). Today I tried to print for the first time
since I upgraded to v9 a couple months ago. I print the Callsign Notes and
QSO Notes fields, among others.

The bug seems to be that no matter what I choose for the 'note width' in the
Report Editor, D4W sizes the boxes of both Callsign and QSO Notes fields on
the printout to around 20 characters, so it winds up overwriting them onto
the next field (I can send a snapshot if Paul or someone wants to see it).

This problem did not exist in v5.

I realize printing bugs are probably low in the backlog :)

Jim,

I do have the latest 9.4 version of Updater. And to be sure reinstalled it
again from the new URL you indicated.

But when running it I have still two warning pop-ups:

"dx4win.php is not a JSON file" and "dx4win.php is missing or not a JSON file"

I do not know what .php files nor JSON files are.

Also, before running the Updater yesterday, I always had a Calendar events
window open. After running this update, calendar doesn't open.

I disabled the 425DX calendar checkbox in Updater, run Updater again and no
more dx4win.php errors. But the calendar doesn't popup either. I enable the
option, error again...

Maybe the calendar link in Updater is not updated???

But, i's not a big deal , I am checking the DX activity elsewhere also..

Midway and Kure Islands Reinstated as DXCC Entities

05/11/2017

On March 31, 2017, the DXCC desk announced the deletion of Midway Island and
Kure Island from the DXCC entities list. The stated reason for this action was
because of changes in the administration resulting from changes in
Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument, formerly known as the Northwestern
Hawaiian Islands Marine National Monument, of which the Midway Atoll National
Wildlife Refuge and the Battle of Midway National Memorial, the Hawaii State
Seabird Sanctuary at Kure Atoll, and the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands State
Marine Refuge, of which they are all included.

After further review it has been found that the deletion of these two entities
is not supported by the changes that were made to the relevant administrations.
Therefore, the deletions from the DXCC list should not have occurred and the
two entities, Midway Island KH4 and Kure Island KH7K, will return to the DXCC
list as separate entities.

Hola Isidro

Are the user logged on Windows 7 with administrative rights?
Are the folder / drive protected e.g. only read settings?
Could it be the antivirus program that do something strange?
Is the Windows 7 updated from Microsoft?
Could it be a 32 bit or 64 bit issue? (I have no problem with version 8 on
32 or 64 bit, and I did ran Windows 7 before Windows 10).
Have you tried to install the version 7 on another PC? It could be the
installation file that is corrupt.

And are there any problem with installation of other programs?

The "wrong" mode can be found in "import for this QSO".

The very sad fact is that you cannot upload a JT9 QSO correctly from DX4Win

Sadly very old construction no longer supported (other than what Jim AD1C

If you want to send me your .DXL file, I will run my program against it and
send you back the results.

As I recall, it also knows about your "filters" if that is of interest.

If you don't want to send your entire log, copy it do a different name.DXL.
Then open that file with DX4WIN and delete all but one QSO. Then save it
and send it to me.

If there is enough interest, I will consider Window'izing the program (it
only runs at a command prompt now) and make it available to anyone.

[Dx4win] List of modes not supported by DX4WIN

2017-01-01 Thread OZ0J Joe
Hi all

Happy New Year

In Denmark we are celebrating the 90th anniversary of EDR (Danish ARRL) in
2017. We will be active with difference calls and many different modes
during 2017.

Is the a list of present modes that are not supported in DX4WIN?

So far I have found JT9 (used today), but I am sure that other modes will be
used during 2017.

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN Data Updater re-write and feature request

-> –auto : run Updater Program without graphical interface

I have the DX4WIN Data Updater (shortcut) with -auto at my Start folder in
Windows. I would like to have the -auto feature in the future, because I forget
to run the Data Updater regularly.

I can live without the -auto feature, but it help me a lot to update DX4WIN, so
I always have the latest version from the Data Updater.

Thanks for the bit work you are doing.

Emne: [Dx4win] DX4WIN Data Updater re-write and feature request

Hi Folks,

I'm considering re-writing the DX4WIN Data Updater (porting from Perl to
C/C++). The main reason is to reduce the program (file) size from approx 5MB
to something under 300KB (about 6% of the original size), as well as making it
easier to debug. I'll be cleaning up a lot of the code, and removing some
features that I never finished or that never worked right. I'll change it so
that a failed download (like
eQSL) won't stop the update process to wait for user input before it can
continue. Plus, I can use a free compiler to build the program.

Is anyone using any of the following features in the Updater? If not, then I
will not implement them in the new version.

http://dx4win.ad1c.us/updater/index.html#options

–prompt : ask before updating each file

–auto : run Updater Program without graphical interface

keep-alive functionality. I have never thought this worked very well,
the VE7CC user program does a much better job of this.

I'm considering adding the options described at the URL above as some sort of
configuration menu that you can access from within the program, but that's a
low-priority item right now. Getting the existing functionality working again
is most important.

Here is a screenshot of what the new Updater may look like, subject to change,
of course.

http://dx4win.ad1c.us/new_updater.png

I may have trouble supporting Windows XP, but Windows Vista and later should be
fine. If this is a deal-breaker for you, let me know.

If there are new features you want, please let me know and I'll try to
implement them. One new feature I want to add is a "Reset" button that removes
all the downloaded files from the UPDATE directory. This will force the
Updater to download all the latest files if things get out-of-sync.

Support for ARRL National Parks on the Air (NPOTA) will be left in for the time
being, but be disabled. The framework I created (i.e.
sub-menus for Calendar and Membership Lists) is useful for adding similar
features.

Please do not ask me when it will be ready.

Re: [Dx4win] Error in DXCC report - version 8.05

2016-12-13 Thread OZ0J Joe
Thanks to both Mike and Jerry for the fine explanation. I am sure that both
Leif and I can live with that.

However, in Denmark Danish DX Club has this special list – see
http://ddxg.dk/dxbandcountry_september2016.htm

The text is in Danish but I will explain a little bit:

The numbers below each band are worked and in () confirmed DXCCs. We do not use
the DXCC rules about the CW date, so Leif was a little but surprised when he
lost some DXCCs in CW mode when he upgraded to version 8.05. Leif wanted to
upgrade to version 8, because he want register the 60 M QSOs in DX4WIN instead
of paper log.

I can’t see a workaround to count the DXCCs worked in CW mode no matter the QSO
date with DX4WIN version 8. I guess that Leif has to calculate the CW QSOs in
version 5 – or as I have suggested – work the missing CW QSOs again.

I think Mike gave an excellent explanation. The following comes from the DXCC
Rules on the ARRL website:

c) CW: Contacts must be made using CW since January 1, 1975. Confirmations for
cross-mode contacts for this award must be dated September 30, 1981, or
earlier. CW contacts dated December 31, 1974, or before, are credited as Mixed
mode.

Hello Joe,

CW QSOs before 1975 DO count for mixed and single band DXCC awards, so your
DX4WIN report is correct. The award for CW only DXCC started on 1 January
1975, so only QSOs made after that date count.

The CW DXCC award does not count individual bands. It only counts the
number of countries (entities) starting on 1 Jan 1975 and it doesn't matter
what band, or how many bands you have.

I hoe this makes sense to you, and to Leif. If not, perhaps someone else
can explain it differently.

Hi

I earlier got the information that CW QSOs before 1 January 1975 do not
count for DXCC. Since that I have tried to help my friend OZ1LO to find out,
whatever there is an error in the DXCC report in DX4WIN version 8.05.

I have created a log with 2 QSOs on 80 M. Both QSOs are with CW mode and one
QSO is BEFORE 1 January 1975 and one AFTER.

When I run the DXCC report (Report -> DXCC) I get this result:

MIXED 2
CW 1
80 M 2

Even when I run the DXCC report with these settings:

DXCC summary or listing
Mode = CW
Band = 80M

I still get:

MIXED 2
CW 1
80 M 2

Why do I not only get the CW DXCC awarded QSOs here?

Pictures of the report settings and result can be found at
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2651703/dx4win-oz1lo.pdf

How do I (or OZ1LO) get a report that ONLY show the valid CW DXCCs on each
bands? Or is that not possible?

Thanks, that is way before my license time as radio amateur. I started in 1983

I have forwarded the message and ask him to work the DXCCs in CW again.

Re: [Dx4win] Upgrade from ver 5.03 to ver 8.05

2016-12-12 Thread OZ0J Joe
Hello all

Thanks to N7KA and W0VTT for e-mails.

Now I got some more details about the problem.

In version 5.03 there is a lot of QSOs, and some of the QSOs are very old.

When the log is upgraded to version 8.05 some of the CW (and only the CW)
QSOs are not correct in the log.

Mainly it seems that the problem are on the 5 old contest bands in other
words 10, 15, 20, 40 and 80 meters.

It is also mainly QSOs before 1 January 1975 that is the problem.

When the DXCC report is running the CW QSOs will be count as MIXED and CW in
the total view. When the same report is running for e.g. 80 meters it is NOT
counting.

Present I have no pictures from the log, but I have been informed that mode
is missing on these old QSOs. There are no problems with PHONE QSOs also
before 1 January 1975. There are no DIGI QSOs in the log.

Any help for this strange error is most helpful.

Could it be the jump from version 5.03 to 8.05 that is too difficult?

Re: [Dx4win] LOTW report question

2016-11-22 Thread OZ0J Joe
I have worked on with this.

This is a QSO that I had with 5Q2J during the WAE RTTY contest. My used call
was 5Q2T.

Details 5Q2T5Q2J2016-11-12 08:58:14 15M RTTY
21.09800DENMARK

When I click on details, I can see date and time when I uploaded the QSO to
LoTW. It is not the QSO time but the actual time that LoTW received the QSO
details.

When I click on DENMARK, I can see actual time and date that 5Q2J uploaded
to his LoTW account.

Barry,

Can you find same details on one of the 12 QSLs that you miss in DX4WIN?

How do I turn off system beep in DX4WIN ?

I have the beep ignore selected in Preferences/packett 1 already selected.

If I am on say, Facebook watching a video , it will override the audio there
as well.

Re: [Dx4win] Report that shows Labels to be printed?

2016-05-28 Thread OZ0J Joe
Greg

You can get a kind of report.

Press F8 and type Y in Label left to QSL Date, then press Enter
In the menu choose Windows -> Logbook

Now you get the QSOs with Y in Label.

Right click on one of the QSOs and you can choose "write to file" or
"print". "Write to file" make a .CSV file that you can open in Excel.

Hello Greg,

You can do a filter (F8) with label set to Y. It's not a report, but will
give you a list of just those QSOs.

Frank

If you download the DX4WIN Updater program form
http://dx4win.ad1c.us/updater/ you will get the new clusters in DX4WIN.

Try connect to VE7CC-1 I know that is working, if you have the latest
updater file.

Have you tried a couple of different clusters? If you've been away for that
long, some of them may no longer be active.

Re: [Dx4win] list of worked/confirmed calls per continent?

2016-01-08 Thread OZ0J Joe
Thanks to Jim, AD1C to offer the work to make a list of QSO's from EU

Also thanks to Lee, N7NU to offer time to make a program to change the log in
DX4WIN.

I search a little and found http://help.winlog32.co.uk/ So far I have only
imported my ADIF file from Dx4WIN to Winlog32. Then I ran an update of WAE
status.

The result is that Winlog32 takes the QSOs from oldest date and mark them one
by one to the WAE award.

If anyone is interested I can make a short manual with pictures with how do to
from DX4WIN to Winlog32.

BTW is there any way that import (update) QSO's and change the WAE SSB and/or
WAE CW awards? Or it that manual work all the time?

WAE SSB and WAE CW are not shown in the field "Custom award" next to LOTW cfm.
field. How do I add the award?

You are right, it is not there. Sorry.

Please send me your .DXL file, I will try to extract all the Europe QSOs for
you.

[Dx4win] list of worked/confirmed calls per continent?

2016-01-02 Thread OZ0J Joe
Hi

Happy New Year

I would like to find the DXCCs, that I am missing in several modes to hunt
e.g. Worked All Europe and Worked All Continents. I know the report DXCC ->
Needed Listing, but are looking for a report only for DXCCs to Worked All
Europe.

It could also be interesting to find the confirmed paper QSLs to the same 2
mentioned awards.

Is there any way to get a report or file where I have the continent of all
QSOs?

-> You could use Logbook Window to select the fields you want, including
continent.

I looked in the report editor but I could not find the fieldname that indicate
the continent.

Can anybody help me with the filename, then it will be no problem to work with
the CSV file.

Thanks
