Re: [Dx4win] Printing Address and or QSO Strips
I used a Brother QL-550 until recently for DX4Win and as a QSL bureau sorter. Either the Brother driver changed, the DX4Win driver changed (v8 vs v9), or an update to Win10 caused it to stop working, sadly, I didn't keep track. I haven't been able to get it to work lately. When it worked, it was fantastic. 73, Eric W3DQ Date: Sun, 19 Feb 2023 15:59:20 + From: ron kk7go.com < To: "dx4win@mailman.qth.net" Subject: [Dx4win] Printing Address and or QSO Strips Greetings, This may have been addressed, but I have not been successful in finding the post. Re: [Dx4win] Printing labels for newly received Bureau QSL cards.
Maybe not the best way to do it but when I have that situation I go to the QSO's that I want to print and place a note in the NOTES FOR THIS QSO such as Rcvd from BURO 1/2/23. You only need to type this once, then use CTL+C to copy the note to the rest of the QSL's you want to print. So what you are doing is to find the QSL's to print (one by one), In the label box place Y, place BURO in the method box, the do the CTL+C to put your note in the NOTES FOR THIS QSO box. Then do a F8 search for this note you made (in this example Rcvd from BURO 1/2/23). The search will only find the QSO's you marked as Rcvd from BURO 1/2/23 and you can now print only those QSL's in question. You also have a notation of when and how you received the incoming QSL that you did not have before. 73 Alan K7ACZ -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net On Behalf Of Jim Pyle Sent: Saturday, January 28, 2023 11:25 AM To: WA7AA Cc: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Printing labels for newly received Bureau QSL cards. Re: [Dx4win] Printing with Brother DK-1201 labels?
Hi Kostas, and anyone else having this issue. I am having the same issue with v9.x Of DX4W. After spending a lot of time trying to get the Dymo 450 to print labels correctly, I went to V8.05 and found out it worked as described. Something in V 9.X is broken with the Custom Label part of DX4W 9.x. Since there has been no other posts I have to figure no one else has a work around or fix. I am writing here to let everyone who has this problem know, the only way I was able to get the labels to print correctly was to use DX4W8.05. DX4W 8.05 and 9.x will work on the same computer in different directories and you have to export v9.x logs to version 8.05 in order to print the labels. 73 Wayne WA1PMA On 8/3/2020 2:59 AM, Kostas SV1DPI wrote: Eric I would suggest to study my notes here abt how to setup the printer https://www.qsl.net/sv1dpi/en/dx4win/printqsos.html 73 de Kostas SV1DPI Member of SZ1A team FT8 free op Στις 1/8/2020 12:48 π.μ., ο Eric Rosenberg έγραψε: I'm having a terrible time printing Brother DK-1201 labels with my Brother QL-550 printer. Re: [Dx4win] Printing labels
I've had the same problem. I use a Brother QL-550 printer. The labels I use are DK-1201 (1-7/8" x 3 ½” / (29mm x 90.3mm) and DK-1209 (1/-1/7" 2-3/7" - 28.9mm x 62mm). I can't get DX4Win to print correctly. I worked with Paul with no success. Any suggestions? An outboard driver or separate program for printing these labels (BV)? 73, Eric W3DQ -- Message: 3 Date: Tue, 24 Mar 2020 08:22:25 -0400 From: Wayne M To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] Printing labels Message-ID: <64498887-a812-cf29-f097-7ea3385d5...@gmail.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8; format=flowed Hi All, I now have a Dymo 450 Turbo LabelWriter. Re: [Dx4win] Printing Labels
Hi Guy, This converts to the same size label I'm using ref number 30334 which is 2 1/4 x 1 1/4 inches. I'm guessing you made this custom label in an earlier version of DX4W? Thanks Dan. That sounds like what I am looking for. Yes, Global QSL is really nice. Have been somewhat inactive but getting back into it and have a batch to upload to Global one of these days soon. Hi, I have an HP Envy 5643 printer. I am trying to print my logbook pages 2 sided as always. For some reason I am not able to do it in DX4WIN. Other programs work fine. Any ideas? Have set the printing up for 2 sided. 73 John W9RPM -- EMAIL: j...@w9rpm.com WEBPAGE: http://www.w9rpm.com/ DX CLUB: http://www.tcdxa.org/ AOL IM: W9RPM YAHOO: W9RPM __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Dx4win] Printing Lables
Hello Bernie, To change the label setting go into print QSL then in the little box top left marked current label type in the "Epson type number". I always use compatible labels from Amazon there the 5Star brand there cheap and good, never had a problem in years of use and thousands of printed cards. I use Compatible 5 star and set it for Epson L7160 which is 3 x 7 columns = 21 lables. My type face is 10 set in Label preference. That way I print off loads pour from a sheet of labels and being small they fit any type of QSL card. If you need bigger labels just look at the serial number for Epson and then order 5 Star compatible from Amazon. The Avery Numbers Are: 1X2 = L7168 2X4 = L7169 2X6 =L7166 2x8= L7165 2x10=L7163 3x4= L7164 2x7= L7163 2x8=L7162 3x6=L7161 3x7=L7160 3x8=L7159 So just put any of the above numbers in to DX4Win Label type and you are ready to go and print off what you want. All you need is 5 Star Labels asthey are so much cheaper than Epson and just as good. Hope this helps 73 Glyn GW0ANA __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Dx4win] Printing Lables
Tnx Glyn for your info, gd deal. What The problem I see with my labels are the way the finished type appears on the label The type is squeezed to the left side of the label instead of spreading out across the 1x4 inches label Prints out like it's on a 25/8 All the text is to the left side, not spread out across the label It's like one size fits all Perhaps the problem is I use two different fonts a larger font for the callsign a smaller one for the QSL information? Tnx so much. Well, when you press F2, does the Label field in the QSO data window change from N to Y? This would be good to know. If you don't see that, make sure you're in Expert mode, then F5 until you can see it. If not, then pressing F2 is not set to change it, possibly because your DX4Win.ini file got hosed up. You say you set the F2 in preferences to Mark for printing a label. Open the DX4Win.ini with a text editor and check to see that the flag called F_F2_Label is set to 1 and not 0. You can also go to QSLs - Set QSL Label Flag and see if this makes any difference (i.e. change Label to Y). And finally, when you go to print, do you select Print QSL Labels or Print Labels in Sequence? Try both and see if there is a difference. I never use Sequence so I can't help you there... Good luck. Sounds like you have a filter selected so you are only getting a label for the last QSO you looked at. Before you print the labels go into - Filter - Cancel Filter. 73 Bob VP8LP From: WA7AA Sent: Tuesday, 17 March 2015 18:14 To: bob, dx4win@mailman.qth.net On 17-Mar-15 2:00 PM, bob wrote: Well...I'm pulling my hair out. [Dx4win] Printing Labels showing frequency
I've been poking around various HELP topics but can't find an answer to this. I presently have my labels set up with small windows showing the following QSO info: DATE UTC BAND RST 2X When I print the labels this info is filled in. Example: DATE UTC BAND RST 2X 15-SEP-2013 2156 14 MHZ 599 CW Rather than just showing the band (14 MHZ) is there a way to show the exact freq logged (14012.0)? My contest loggers always show the exact freq I worked a station (ex: 14012.0) rather than just 14.000 or 14 MHZ. When I transfer my contest logs (via ADIF) into DX4WIN the exact freq appears in my FREQ (KHZ) little box in the main logging window after the download. I am now in the habit when I log a regular every day QSO I fill in the exact freq in this same window. But when I print the labels it will just print 14 MHZ. Re: [Dx4win] Printing On Labels Questions
Hi Eric, 1. I also use 5160 labels with no problems. On the PRINT QSL LABELS edit widow I use the drop down list to select 5160 labels and that automatically sets up the sizing and select Arial for my callsign and body fonts. I also unclick the COMMERCIAL block. DX4WIN remembers these settings and I never have to change it before I print the next labels. 2. I do not know of any way to print 2 groups names. I have never tried it. It would seem there would not be enough room to do so on the label. Maybe someone else can help with this one. 3. I have never had this problem. I currently use an Epson Work Force 500 printer but before that used a HP psc 2175 and never saw this happen. 4. When you open the PRINT QSL LABELS there is a box named MISSING LABELS. Place the number of missing labels in this box. For example: At the end of your last print run you only used 6 labels on the last page of your labels. You would then place the number 6 in the MISSING LABELS box and your next print run will start printing at label 7. If I have used almost all the labels on a page on my next print run I will insert the paper in the printer so the last leftover label now becomes label number 1 (does that make sense? I know what I mean and hope I am stating it correctly) 5. One thing to remember. I don't know what version of DX4WIN you are using. I am using ver 8.05 and what I stated above has been true for my previous versions also BUT with 8.05 I have to change the basic settings in the main print window each time I open it. Every time I close the print window and reopen it, it defaults to having the PRINT QSL MANAGER block unchecked and the PRINT VIA MANAGER, PRINT METHOD, PRINT GROUPS checked. I DO NOT want to print the method labels so I must uncheck this selection. I DO want to print the QSL MANAGER labels so I must place a check in this block. On previous versions DX4WIN would remember these choices and each time I printed labels I did not have to make any changes. With ver 8.05 I must reset these basic selections before every print job. I hope this is fixed with the next version to how it was before. Just for info, my personal preferences for labels are to go to the CALLSIGN FONT box and double click on the font. This opens a second window where I select ARIAL for the font, BOLD, color RED, size 11 for the callsign and OK. Then I double click on the BODY FONT block and select ARIAL, BOLD, black for COLOR and 9 for size. I also select the USE LINES option in this window too so each QSO is in its own line/block. I uncheck the Commercial option since if I leave it selected I don't have room on the label to print what I want. Using these settings the callsign (and via the managers call if a manager is used) is printed in Red along the top and I get 3 lines of QSO's per label with Pse QSL (or Tnx QSL), My group name (example 2012 ARRL DX), and 73 along the bottom of the label. One more thing that should be obvious but may not be is BEFORE every print run I click the PRINT button then select PREVIEW instead of PRINTER. This shows me exactly how my page of labels will look before I hit printer. You have to click on the maximize button to open the label page all the way. If everything looks good then print, otherwise go back and make corrections. A correction I have to make the most is the address does not fit properly on the label. I have to go back to the QSL MANAGER window, hit CTL + E, and adjust the way the address is situated in the address window. Most of the time one line of the address is too long and I have to shorten it or make it into two lines. Sometimes a line on the address label will run off onto the label to the right of it. For example, 4U1ITU's address first line is INTERNATIONAL AMATEUR RADIO CLUB. That is too long for my label and it will run off the edge when I print. So I place INTERNATIONAL AMATEUR on the first line and RADIO CLUB on the second line. Hope this is helpful. Hope you have your power back on there. 73, Alan, K7ACZ -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net [mailto:dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net] On Behalf Of Eric Rosenberg Sent: Thursday, July 05, 2012 7:13 AM To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] Printing On Labels Questions I've just finished printing the labels for all of the N3C cards that required a response. Re: [Dx4win] Printing QSLs with LaserJet printer
Dave, I print directly to the non-glossy back of a photo card with no problems. The printer is an HP LaserJet P2015d. I prepared a how-to document to show how to set up DX4WIN to do the printing (spacing, etc) if you are interested. I have two types of QSL cards -- one glossy finish and the other a more normal card stock type finish. Both seem to have the same problem. I can print the QSL on to regular copy paper and the text adheres just fine. So I am thinking it has something to do with the thickness of the card stock that does not allow the card to roll through the printer evenly enough to get a good heat seal on the toner. I may have to revert to printing out sheets of labels in the LaserJet. BTW, I have noticed that the labels that I printed from the Dymo Label printer tend to fade over several years time. Re: [Dx4win] Printing QSLs with LaserJet printer
Need to change the settings on what type of paper you have when you go to print in Properties for your printer. Choose the glossy card stock (or similar). It slows the print speed down so there is more heating time to compensate for the thicker paper. Rubbing off is a sign the toner was not fused fully. I can look details up if you need. Same settings if you are using glossy photo paper. Re: [Dx4win] Printing QSLs with LaserJet printer
Dan, Your suggestion did the trick. I selected Heavy Paper Stock and it slowed the printer down so that the toner fused very nicely to the glossy card stock. I also want to thank Larry Burke for sending me his application note on how to setup DX4WIN to print QSL cards on a LaserJet printer. Re: [Dx4win] Printing labels of one group
Dear Group: With a couple of helpful suggestions from Jim AD1C, I was eventually able to print labels just for one Group. It is not a simple procedure. Here is a copy of what I think eventually worked. - Steps needed to effect printing labels for QSOs of one group that has Y in Label: 1. File | Preferences Personal tab Set User Level = Expert File | Save Changes and Exit 2. Filter | Edit Group Names cycle Add to get the numbers of all groups that might be of interest to show OK 3. Filter | Selection In Current Selection type a name for the group of interest Add In Group Name find the number of the group of interest and double-click Check the Group Filter box Click Update OK 4. QSLs | Print QSL Labels only QSOs in the desired group that have Y in Label will have labels printed 5. Filter | Selection Select: All QSOs -- It is expected that this will help others. 73, Mac N8TT J. McLaughlin; Michigan, USA Home: j...@power-net.net - Original Message - From: J. C. Re: [Dx4win] Printing QSLs with Alternate Call (Different from Licensed Call)
Hi, Joe and the fellows... I have already declared the IT9/K2XX QSOs as a separate group and imported them into a separate log. Normally when a QSL label is printed, it starts the label with K2XX confirming QSO with and then the call of the recipient station is inserted. What I would like to do is replace K2XX with IT9/K2XX in the preceding phrase. Changing the greeting menu entries doesn't affect this phrase. Or am I missing something? I think Dx4win only prints the other's callsign, not our callsign. The only method I know is putting it in the group name. [Dx4win] Printing Label Directly on QSL Card
I am in the process of ordering new QSL cards and I would like to be able to print the DX4WIN label directly on the card. I found a few references to this in the archives, but I am having a couple of problems. One is getting the label to print in the correct spot (which, in my case, is the center of the card). I suspect it's just a matter of me playing around with things before I find the right location. The more serious issue is that the ink from my laser printer (HP P2015d) doesn't seem to want to stick to the QSL card. I'm using an inexpensive W4MPY stock card for the trials, but have also used a sample from the QSL Shop. I am wondering if there is a coating on these cards prohibiting the ink from adhering. The card also creates a paper jam if it is placed in the printer in an orientation perpendicular to the envelope feed direction. I'm interesting in hearing from anyone who has made this work. RE: [Dx4win] Printing Label Directly on QSL Card
Depends on the finish of the card stock. Those with the glossy or semi-glossy finish the ink will have a tough time sticking to the finish. The cards with a flat finish or I think they call it a matte finish I've had pretty good luck with the ink sticking. Re: [Dx4win] Printing from the logbook
Hi Another option is : Once you have selected your QSOs, do a print with the right mouse click, and select preview. There you can see which page your QSO i on, and, if so you wish, print only that page(s). 73 Paul F6EXV Michael C. RE: [Dx4win] Printing from the logbook
Hi Mike, I think the easiest way to do what you want is to create a filter either using F8 or making one that suits what you want to do under Filter/Selection. Then your log window will only show the items you want according to the filter and you can tell it to print all pages because that will be what you want. Hope that helps. 73, John ZL1BYZ. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Michael C. Hi Isrido, Reflector, Thank You I tried exactly that, and it works exactly like I want. I added the callsign as part of the reply in 3rd box. There is room for improving the label process by allowing worked callsign to be printed, and allow multi labels printed. Takes time to do one at a time. Lucky I don't have many to do. 73, tnx for your reply Bernie/WO2N. - Original Message - From: Isidro Acosta Hern?ndez [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: wo2n [EMAIL PROTECTED]; dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Thursday, May 03, 2007 9:26 PM Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Printing SWL Labels Hi Bernie and the reflector: I want to print SWL label.
