This is no rush as I was just updating packages for the first time since
the mirrors have been having problems (so my last update was April I
reckon). I'm getting a configure error when trying to build
pkgconfig-0.28-1 on 10.7 and I'm not sure what to do about it. Please

That would most likely be because you don't have Xcode 3.1.2 installed.
Since gcc44 requires that version of Xcode to build, you'll have to
download and install that. (From the Apple developer site which has free
registration.)
