Mark, I no longer have your original message, but if the "spur" was 1.2
kHz as I recall, I'm wondering if you have a local AM broadcast station
which may have mixed in your final. I have seen sum and difference
products from local transmitters mixing in a transmitter result in
"spurs".
Regarding the freeze... its called DPC or Delayed Procedure Call. Most
likely one or more sound devices are not set to the same sampling rate
as the others. The fix is easy (if its caused by sound devices
sampling), just set all the audio devices, including VAC, speakers,
audio in, line in,
the 'Recording' inputs set to that? I show 10 items on that
list, mics, lines, and S/PDIF.
Thanks 73,
Dave KD5FX

Another thing to check / verify; make sure all audio devices are running the
same sampling rate and depth i.e 2 channel, 16 bit, 48,000 Hz.
Mismatches with VAC and sound cards WILL cause significant DPCs (Delayed
Procedure Calls).

David, the subject of annual charge for the software for the 6xxx series

You may notice significant reduction in signal strength when using the K9AY
Loop System. You will also notice a significant improvement in the signal to
noise ratio. I have found that DX signals which are marginal copy on the TX
antenna ( a vertical ) are solid copy on the K9AY Loop System.

You cannot pass any of the high end frequencies of the PR40. If your
transmission BW is 2.5 kHZ, and the low frequency roll off is 200 Hz, the
high end frequency to be transmitted is 2700 Hz. Everything from 3000 Hz to
16000 Hz is left in the mic cable. Still it’s a nice microphone if you

Many don't bother with RTFM, but want someone to re-write the Quick-Start.
If someone can't be bothered with reading the quick start section, do you
really think they can read the re-write?

I've had no problems with the 64 bit version of VSP Manager running on my 64
bit version of WIN 7. Its free if you ask, while several of the others
offer free versions in 32 bit and then charge for their 64 bit versions,
which includes one I paid for then found it would not work in my
You might check with Grant, AA9LC, who made a presentation on building a SDR

presentation included the how and why of mixing, modulation, and

If I may jump in here, I bought the 64 bit version of VSPE only to find out
that it was NOT working and would not work as needed with DDUtil, my
Flex-1500, CW Skimmer, and DXLab Commander. Instead I've been using VSP
Manager (free) which does work with WIN7 64 bit.
