I set all four colors (CMYK) to process and overprint. Using Save as PDF (not print to Adobe PDF). Below, you can see the PDF with all four plates turned on in Output Preview. It is easy to see that yellow is overprinting. It turns green on top of cyan, and  easy to see that black is, too--

Hi Mike, in the office where I work, we still have the old FM 10 installed. I checked this here and it is still the same as with the other FM versions. (BTW, I always work with "save as PDF", stopped using the print to ps-file nonsense in 2007 with FM 8.) Well, how do you know that there is

Ok, this has gotten way weirder, but I have managed a partial solution that lets me create this particular file the way I want. I suspect the book will bomb out, though. I've always had trouble getting Save as PDF to work with books. Here is what fixed it enough for now: 1. I used Save as

Well, hmmf. Mine says "Page has Overprint: No," and knocks out everything below it. I even tried using a drawn rectangle on the body page, as you did, instead of a background graphic. Same result. I also tried setting the color definition of regular black to overprint. Same result. So there

I’m just wondering if your concern is in regard to printing on a printer you control, or a print vendor. Registration IIRC relates to print processes that involve multiple passes (AKA the old way.) Have you found issues with misregistration on printers you control, or your client's printers? If

Hi Mike, I checked using a simple rectangle and some text. I checked the behaviour with FM 8 and FM 2017 (no FM10 installed) Changing the color definition to "overprint" worked, as the pdf has marked the black color as "overprint". Here the info in the Acrobat "output preview" tool for the

Whoa, I hadn't noticed the versions you were using. For all I know, it's been fixed since FM 10. FM got an entirely new PDF engine in FM 2019. On Wed, Apr 14, 2021 at 2:57 PM Lin Sims wrote: > I'm the wrong person to ask. :-) > > I would suggest logging a bug or feature request at the Adobe

In the meantime, I believe I've found the sad answer to my question. Overprint settings only work when printing _separations_ to PDF. This is ridiculous! They should work on composite PDFs, too! So, in the end, creating an Overprint Black color definition, and assigning it to appropriate

I don't have an answer for you, because I've never worked with printhouses or FM's printer capabilities. However, both Bob Niland and Matt Sullivan hang out on the Adobe FrameMaker community, and they do have experience with both. I suggest you post your question there and @ them to get their
