2023-11-18 Thread Emma Flukes
Is it possible to apply different styles to different granules in an
imagemosaic? I thought a simple sld filter using one of the attributes in the
index shapefile might work, but it seems that only the image pixels are
accessed. Is there any way to access the index shapefile from the sld? I have
an imagemosaic with 5x multiband tiffs (predictions of a different habitat
class, each with 11 bands representing a different quantile of prediction). I
wish to create 11x different layers which will each access a particular band
(prediction quantile), but the component tiffs need different styling. I'm
trying to avoid having to publish 5x11 layers and an additional 5 layer groups.

2022-03-25 Thread Matteo BASILE
Dear GeoSolutions,

I'm sorry for the trouble. I have a problem with GeoServer and the
OpenSearch plugin (
https://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/community/opensearch-eo/index.html
).

In particular, I want to both use the OpenSearch module for search purposes
and to publish an Image Mosaics for each collection.

In order to do this, I follow this tutorial/documentation:
https://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/community/opensearch-eo/automation.html#usage-of-the-api-for-search-and-integrated-ogc-service-publishing
.

However, although the plugin creates the (Image Mosaic) layer correctly, I
cannot enable the Dimension Attribute for that layer (as you can see in the
image).

I am using GeoServer version 2.20.2, specifically the
kartoza/geoserver:2.20.2 docker image: 2.20.2, and the 1.0 version of the
OpenSearch plugin.

Could you help me solve this problem? Thanks in advance and have a nice day!

Not that I know of, but one is well advised to keep it short for
practical reasons (it ends up

Many of the limitations on naming in geoserver only show up in specific
protocols. As example you can name a layer almost anything but ...
- vector layers must letter and be alphanumeric (so they can be valid XML
types)
- raster layers published as a coverage can start with a number

I assume the workspace documentation is describing limitations on XML
prefix (as the workspace name is combined with the feature type name when
publishing GML data).
I do not see anything on ten characters in the XML namespace specification,
perhaps it was a limitation of one of the XML parsers.

I have never come across this 10 character limitation and wonder whether it
is correct or whether the documentation needs to be updated. I have
successfully created two workspaces that only differ past the 10 character
position, so it's not checking only the first 10 characters.

Is there a known limitation on workspace name length?

2019-12-04 Thread Daniele Romagnoli
Hi Natalia,
You may want to try with the "external" method in order to avoid a physical
copy (streaming data into GeoServer folders) of your NetCDF file which
might be big in favor of having that file being accessed as a simple
external reference.

Try with something like below.
Just make sure you don't have previously partially configured
coveragestores with same name or files copied around on your geoserver data
dir.
If so, please remove that coverage store and also consider cleaning up any
auxiliary file associated with your NetCDF if present. if you didn't define
any NETCDF_DATA_DIR, you should see a .my_file_hash hidden folder beside
your netcdf file if you already successfully did some previous
configuration. (something
like .my_file_3eb615ab61e5f2bfac642bffc5b95003e86bc5ff)

This is the REST command you can use:
curl -u admin:geoserver -v -X PUT "
http://localhost:8080/geoserver/rest/workspaces/WP1/coveragestores/CV2/external.netcdf;
-H "Content-type: text/plain" -d "file:///home/local/my_file.nc"

If everything goes well, you will see an output like this:
*   Trying 127.0.0.1...
* Connected to localhost (127.0.0.1) port 8080 (#0)
* Server auth using Basic with user 'support'

hello all,
I'm trying to upload a netcdf file to geoserver, without success.
I did the following steps:
- create the workspace without problem
- then the PUT request for the file, following the doc
https://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/api/#/latest/en/api/1.0.0/coveragestores.yaml
:
curl -u admin:geoserver -v -X PUT "
http://localhost/geoserver/rest/workspaces/WP1/coveragestores/CV1/file.netcdf?filename=%2Fhome%2Flocal%2Ftest1.zip;
-H "accept: application/json" -H "content-type: application/json"
the file test1.zip, located in /home/local is a zipped netcdf file (zip
test1.zip myfile.nc) and is readable by all.
The answer is 500

The logs file contains:
[org.geoserver.rest.RestException 500 INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR: Could not
acquire reader for coverage.]
2019-12-03 15:38:02,322 INFO [rest.catalog] - Using existing coverage
store: CV1
2019-12-03 15:38:02,324 WARN [io.netcdf] - unable to connect to the
specified source
file:/opt/tomcat/webapps/geoserver/data/data/WP1/CV1/var/tmp/testnm.zip
org.geotools.data.DataSourceException: unable to connect to the specified
source
file:/opt/tomcat/webapps/geoserver/data/data/WP1/CV1/var/tmp/testnm.zip

the file in tomcat dir is empty:
-rw-r- 1 tomcat8 tomcat8 0 Dec 3 15:38
/opt/tomcat/webapps/geoserver/data/data/WP1/CV1/var/tmp/testnm.zip

I am also able to to the same process using the webgui and it works well.
Only the REST API is a problem.

Anybody can help?
Thanks in advance

Natalia

Dear community.
We forced on problem with styling vector layers from wfs.
Can someone share his experience. We are calculating NDVI from raster. After
converting it to vector and publish as wfs through geoserver. As client side we
are using openlayers log.
And question how to set rule based style to wfs layer?

Thanks Ian. Your answer alerted me to the fact that I wasn't specifying a
style for each layer.
Thanks for your help.

I think you can't mix a style and a layer from different workspaces, but if
that is the case you should probably get a better error message.

2018-06-14 Thread Kris Johnson
Hello,

I am using Geoserver 2.12.2.
I am trying to create a WMS request via the reflector:
https://data.nrri.umn.edu/nra-geoserver/wms/reflect?LAYERS=public%3Amn_boundary%2Cnra%3Amarschner_presettlement_vegetation;
SRS=EPSG%3A3857=300=nra%3Athumb_polygon=image%2Fpng

If I leave out the STYLE parameter the request executes just fine.
It is a simple YSLD style:
title: thumbnail polygon
symbolizers:
- polygon:
stroke-width: 0.1
stroke-color: '#bfbfbf'
fill-color: '#7a0019'

Here is the error I'm seeing in the logs:

2018-02-23 Thread Сергей Кудрявцев via Geoserver-users
Hello.
I'm trying to view vector tiles in GeoServer. The data have the projection
EPSG : 900913. If you choose the viewing option ' EPSG :4326 / geojson' or
'EPSG:900913 / png', everything works fine, but when you select 'EPSG:
900913/geojson' no mapping is performed. The console displays 404 errors for
tiles.
Thanks.

Hi,
the sql view issue has been reported like 5 times already, in the bug
tracker a few times,
on twitter, maybe here too ... has been fixed already at the first report,
if you cannot wait
for the 2.12.1 release (sometimes next week) there are also nightly builds
here:

Cheers

If you look on the archived tab of the download page
you can find 2.10 releases (e.g.

I have no idea about the other issue though I'm afraid.

Hi Anrdea,

Sure, I would be happy to give that a try, please let me know once it hits
the nightlies. It might take me a few days to test, because to test that
volume we need to clone our production server with all the data onto
staging which is a big of an exercise.

Cheers,

You're not doing anything wrong, it's just that the core of GeoServer still
has many bits of code that are written
with an in memory catalog in mind, JDBCConfig work included some _examples_
spread out in the code
base that serve as examples of how things should be done to work against a
in dbms catalog,
but the migration is not complete, there are still bits of code here and
there that load everything
there is to perform some in memory check, that could be replaced with a
well written query
loading only the bits that are actually needed.

One year ago we worked on fixing the biggest offenders in the UI and some
core modules,
leaving out the integrated GWC as the biggest outstanding offender.
Guess what, I'm working on a patch to address some of the issues right now,
which might or
might not address what you're seeing, it should be landing on the
development series
next week.

I'm not saying this will remove all "linear scans" that are in the
codebase, but it should help in some cases.
Let me know if you're interested in testing that out, if so I'll ping you
when I commit it.

Cheers
Andrea

Hi,

We've just installed JDBCConfig on a large GeoServer deployment with about
40,000 layers. The install web smoothly but we're seeing some very strange
behaviour when we do any updates such as adding layers via the REST API.

All such requests hang the server for around 25 minutes. Turning on the
debugging log, it looks like some process is looping over every single
layer in the catalog. The output in the log looks like this:

Sorry,
we managed to solve the problem, the request that was meant to be sent by
some monitoring tool was corrupt. Mixing up spaces with something else.
Thank you anyway, Niko

 Hello list,
I have a problem with one of my layers I recently published. When I send
the WMS GetMap request, I get the correct image but meanwhile I also get
an error in the log-file.

Request:

Hi Nikolaus,
this is quite strange, the bbox seems ok, and yet GeoServer seems to think
it only
has one ordinate, instead of four.

Is that a standard GeoServer downloaded from geoserver.org? Do you have any
extra
plugins?

What default national language is the server using?

Cheers
Andrea

Hi Andrea,
yes, it is a standard GeoServer, I have installed following extensions:

GDAL
Image Pyramid
JPEG2K
Control Flow
CSS Styling
Monitor (Core)
Importer (Core)
Printing
CSW
WPS

The GUI uses german.
The funny thing is, that we have lots of other layers published on this
server (sources are rasters as well as all sorts of vector geometries) and
I have never seen this error before.

Cheers, Niko

The non written rule is that stores need to support all operators, and
emulate in memory the ones they don't have, all official stores do that,
it's not difficult (I can provide links if you want an example).

Code change would be the only way as far as I know, if you really
don't want the in-memory emulation

2015-09-16 Thread jwel...@roadrunner.com
Hello,

I am currently working with GeoServer 2.1.1.7 war file which is hosted on
Apache Tomcat 7.0.64 and running on RHE x86_64.

I researched my question in the user's mailing list however I did not find
the answer. I apologize if it exists and I overlooked it.

My question is whether it is possible to modify the WFS GetCapabilites in
such a way that the operators that are not supported in our environment
would not be displayed.

For example, the spatial operators "Disjoint" and "Equals" will not be
supported. Our users will not need to use these operators so is there a
way
to remove them from the GetCapabilities Spatial Operators list? Would this
require a code change and re-compiling of the code or is there a way to
eliminate these operators without a code change?

This also pertains to the comparison and logical operators too.

Thank you in advance for your help!

2015-06-29 Thread David Haynes II
Hello,

I am new to Geoserver so any help would be appreciated. I am trying to
build an app that utilizes raster dataI have ingested into my
PostgreSQL/PostGIS database. The error occurs when trying to make the
PostGIS raster data store. However, I have previously created a postgis
vector data store from this same data base. The error on the web interface
says Could not list layers for this store, an error occurred retrieving
them: Failed to create reader from file:glc.postgis.xml and hints null.

However within the geoserver log we find that we have a connection error.

I know that I have the connection xml defined properly. I am following the

2015-04-29 Thread Jônatas Castro
Hello Everyone!

I'm configuring a new distributed GeoServer environment and I have some
doubts about GWC Standalone, GeoServer Apache architecture.

I have the following architecture set in a single developing machine.

Apache HTTPD **HTTP 80**
2 Geoserver Instances (2 TOMCAT) **HTTP 8080** **HTTP 8081**
1 GeoWebCache Standalone Instance (1 TOMCAT) **HTTP 8082**

I have a load balance configuration in Apache HTTPD with mod_jk that points
to the 2 GeoServer instances. The 2 GeoServer Tomcat instances are
clustered and point to a single DATA DIR. I've also configured GeoWebCache
DATA CACHE DIR.

If I make a request to http://localhost/geoserver it calls one of the 2
GeoServer instances.
If I make a request to http://localhost/geowebcache it calls the
GeoWebcache instance (redirects to /geowebcache/home).
I've set the *WMS getCapabilites* URL from my Geoserver; at
geowebcache-core-context.xml

Everything is working fine!

My first doubt is in concern to GeoWebCache and GeoServer WMS endpoints
when consuming it in the front-end app (OpenLayers). What is the best
approach when calling WMS service?

   1. Make a URL rewrite with Apache so that I call
/geoserver/gwc/service/wms/... and it would point to GeoWebCache instance
   2. Call GeoWebCache URL directly: /geowebcache/service/wms/...
   3. Make a URL rewrite to Geoserver WMS URL so that when I call
   http://localhost/geoserver/workspace/wms/... it would point to
   GeoWebCache instance

Second doubt is about the integrated GWC configuration.

   - Should I disable GWC at GeoServer *Caching Defaults* configuration
   when using GWC standalone?
   - What really happens when I enable *WMS-C*? Does it just enables
   /geoserver/gwc/sevice/wmsURL?
   - And what really happens when I enable *WMS direct integration*? Does
it make /geoserver/wms URL call the integrated GWC?
   - Do the configuration made in *Tile Caching* GeoServer panel of each
layer affects GWC Standalone (is it passed at getCapabilities)?

All these stuff about the GWC Standalone aren't so clear in the docs. I
hope someone have these answers.

Thank you!

Geoserver is 2.5.2 and I am trying to use BBOX CQL filter, but get a
strange result like this:

loadFeatures({type:FeatureCollection,totalFeatures:15640,features:[]})

It showing a total 15640 features in that bbox, but why there are no list
of them and features are just empty list?

This is my CQL filter:

a week of reading and trying everything out.

 Any suggestions?

 Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I am currently running GeoServer Version 2.1.3.
The problem we are having is that the GeoServer has to be restarted very often

Once it is restarted everything is back to normal.
The site is written in html and Javascript.
Will the upgrade to Geoserver 2.5 resolve this issue for us?

I have no idea, but at least you should get help if you use a 2.5, 2.1.3 is
outdated and not supported
by the community anymore (commercial providers may provide you support for
that, that's a different
matter though).

I try to solve them by the good old RTFM but t be perfectly honest the
f ahhhmmm friendly manual reaches its limits quite fast.

 So maybe you can help:

1.) I have to have some more Labels in the Webinterface. I managed it to
get a new Page using wicket and maven, it works OK, though I had to find
out a lot with trial/error, since

 http://docs.geoserver.org/2.1.0/developer/programming-guide/wicket-pages/index.html

... is a bit spartan. So maybe you could help.

The developer guide is really incomplete, it is assumed that people can
learn
from code (just like all geoserver devs did), mostly because nobody ever
wanted
to sponsor work to build a larger dev docs.

is there something like a reference for commands, categories and the
like for programming modules with wicket in geoserver?

None.

 for instance:

 property name=category ref=someCategory/

What can someCategory be? I *think* it could point to the section of
the page, that shall display the label. Is there a list of valid
 category-names somewhere?

In the spring application context files, but you can add yours too.

2.) Is there really no way to upload a Shapefile or files in general in
the Web-Interface? I have made a small uploader myself but it seems
clumsy to upload a file and then select its adress with dozens of clicks
 in the Stores-tools.

Nope, there is no such a thing. Mostly because it has never been sponsored,
if I had to write one I'd look into plupload (http://plupload.com/), since
containers
would deny large upload anyways (where large is often as small as 2MB)

3.) I see lots of performance issues and they seem hard to debug. We run
 geoserver on a Debian64 GNU/Linux with but 1Gig Ram and a 2-core CPU, is
that not enough? What would you recommend? I have told Tomcat to allow
512MB Ram for its applications, still geoserver reacts slow and
 sometimes crashes altogether.
Some of these crashes where due to bugs in my module, but now, that the
module does as planned and most operations work normal, we still got
 timeouts and the like.

I would double the RAM, but besides that, normally the problem is with data
not being setup for web serving. See
http://www.slideshare.net/geosolutions/gs-steroids-sgiannecfoss4g20130103
for some suggestions.

That said, certainly 2GB/2core is a setup suitable only for light load.

Thanks for the clarification. I am about to rewrite this page. Update

 for some suggestions.

The plan is, to present up to 6-7 relatively simple layers on one map at
a time using Google maps. For starters, that is. If all goes well, the
project could grow almost indefinitely.

Most of it shall be vector-data but we've got sattelite-pictures in the
pipeline too.

As of now we use gwc/service/gmaps to deliver Shapefiles made with
QGis(some with ESRI will be involved too).

We constantly have performance-issues especially the Your session timed
out - thing. In most cases stop/start using tomcat manager wont help
and I have to restart using init.d/tomcat restart to revive geoserver.
Tomcats garbage collector shows memory leaks frequently.

I simply cannot believe, that this is only due to our weakish hardware.
Especially, because I see similar problems in my local install that runs
on a CoreI5 with 8Gigs of Ram. We have 4 relatively simple Shapefiles
loaded so far

Could it help to:

1.) delete the samples(tiger etc)
2.) disable everything but WMS

?

That said, certainly 2GB/2core is a setup suitable only for light load.

We already asked the hoster for conditions regarding upgrades...

Thanks again your help is most appreciated :-)

HZN

 Cheers
 Andrea

we have had Geoserver running on Tomcat on Windows Server 2008 R2, for a

Recently we upgraded both Tomcat, JDK and Geoserver (2.3.3), and find
crashes regularly now.
We already downgraded to JDK 1.6 after finding messages that 1.7 was still
not supported.

The crashes are such that the Tomcat service stops and does not start up

After the crash there is a log file named hs_err_pid2728.log

Is there a solution to getting a collection of GeoTiffs into GeoServer
without using REST or the Import Data feature (available only in the Suite)?

Thanks, DFM

Re: [Geoserver-users] (no subject)

2013-09-30 Thread Simone Giannecchini
Ciao David,
adding to Alessio's email.

The standard option is create a quick script using for instance CURL
(it works on both windows and linux) to submit geotiff files to
geoserver.
 Some usefule links:

http://sharemymappingknowledge.blogspot.it/2013/01/uploading-coverages-to-geoserver-using.html
http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/rest/examples/curl.html
http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.gis.geoserver.user/15557

As of GeoBatch,
that is an external tool that can be used to automate certain tasks.
We are preparing a workshop for it that will be given on the 3rd hence
in a couple of days you'll be able to use the workshop to check what
can be done with it. As an instance it is possible to preprocess and
ingest in GeoServer a bunch of GeoTiff files.
Again, you can achieve something similar via scripting with bash or
bat files + curl and rest interface.

Regards,
Simone Giannecchini

2012-08-24 Thread Charlie Cacici
I am in the process of establishing a new carbon credit registry and have
started investigating my options in regard to what is available for
obtaining and intepreting satellite imagery. Initially, there will be REDD
projects deposited int he registry. These projects are forestry in nature.
At some point in our process and at some pre-determined frequency, we will
need to verify that the number of trees in the projects coordinates have
not materially changed since the project was initially verified. I have
recently spoken with someone at satellite imaging corp who recommended Arc
GIS. Upon speaking to Arch GIS i was told that I need Arc GIS desktop to
perform the calculations and Arc GIS servicer to be able to share the
results. It is my understanding that with the Arc GIS desktop we will be
able to calculate the number of trees as well as their age, etc that will
give us the ability to within a certain margin of error verify that the
number of trees and the expected carbon credit numbers are accurate and
remain the same. Does geoserver have this same capability?

I would greatly appreciate your candid remarks and opinions. If Goeserver
does not meet this need, are there other systems that you can recommend
that do?

Thank you for your time and assistance. I may be reached at
charliecac...@gmail.com or at 908-477-9483

Take care and have a great day!

Hi,
thanks, but it answer more or less another question conserning the graphic
stroke. That is useful for  complex lines. That is another problem I have. What
I am interested in for now is how to influece the graphic fill or fill pattern
within the polygon. If I insert a graphic as a graphic fill, the number of
graphics itself increse depending on scale. The bigger the scale is, the more
graphics I see. Thats looks bed. So I want to determin the number of graphic to
be for example 5 or 6 with pre defined pattern within the area. When I increase
the scale, the number should stay the same. Only the distance (white
space) between the graphics should increase, but not the number of graphics. I
hope, this time, I make myself more clear. But anyway, thanks for your ansser.
By the way, I had your presentation already :)
Cheers

GEOSDOC was deprecated in favor of the new documentation
(http://docs.geoserver.org). Looks like that particular tutorial was never
ported over.

http://osgeo-org.1803224.n2.nabble.com/Shutting-down-old-GeoServer-documentation-GEOSDOC-td6131056.html

If you or someone would like to volunteer to port this tutorial to the new
system, that would be great, and I can send you a dump of the content and show
you what to do. From a quick glance, I can see that it's old enough to have
never been updated to reflect GeoServer 2.0, and so I can't guarantee that the
tutorial will even work as it stands.

Thanks,
Mike Pumphrey

Hello,

i have a problem with Geoserver 2.1-RC1 on top of Tomcat6 and GeoWebCache. GWC
seems to work correct with the standard settings, but i can't find the cached

after creating the gwc folder it stayed empty. With the Jetty version it works
like it should.
Where is gwc saving its tiles in a Tomcat environment? Where did I have to
place the geowebcache.xml file to use a own coordinate system?

2011-01-31 Thread Rahkonen Jukka
Hi,

I was adviced to use a context parameter inside the web.xml document for
controlling the cache location. Full path of the file in my installation is

D:\Program Files\Tomcat 6.0\webapps\geoserver\WEB-INF\web.xml
and the context parameter section is like

   context-param
   param-nameGEOWEBCACHE_CACHE_DIR/param-name
   param-valueZ:\data\gwc_data/param-value
   /context-param

Geowebcache.xml is located at Z:\data\gwc_data. Tomcat restart was needed. And
this in on Windows.

 Hello,

i have a problem with Geoserver 2.1-RC1 on top of Tomcat6 and
GeoWebCache. GWC seems to work correct with the standard
settings, but i can't find the cached tiles on harddrive.
There is no gwc directory inside geoservers data dir. Also
after creating the gwc folder it stayed empty. With the Jetty
version it works like it should.
Where is gwc saving its tiles in a Tomcat environment? Where
did I have to place the geowebcache.xml file to use a own
 coordinate system?

 Here is my geowebcache.xml:
