Dear Friends
I have just received my regular copy of the lace magazine Lace Express
and am sorry to find that it is to be the last one. This magazine has
been around for some years and has added greatly to my enjoyment of
lacemaking. It is has also been a great teaching resource. The

Respect to Lace Express, as far as I'm concerned as designer and a regular
collaborator, it is a bad new, and sad for all who love lace.
Dear all
If anyone is willing to sell originals or copies of Lace express. ... I finally
have my life back (kids out of college) and am devastated by the loss of this
magazine
I would also be happy to scan any lace express issues return the original

I would like to share with you a post I published in my blog a few weeks
ago. I think it is interesting for many lacemakers to know that and
reconsider some attitudes.

Agree one hundred percent. If there is an archive where copies can be purchased
to benefit the printers or their designate I'm happy to do so.
This was part of my happiest times many years ago and have been counting the

I wonder what the average amount of time is for designing a pattern? When we
ask people to contribute a pattern to a project are we essentially asking for
50 hours of their time? At a rate of say, $10 an hour, is it the same as

That's what made me order my Binche Kompact pattern: seeing it on someone's
blog. Sadly some ink is fading before I've finished the pattern. OK more
than four years is quite some time to work on it. Then again I have trouble

I have always been interested in the sort of disconnect in the lace world
between the amount of effort that it takes to design a bobbin lace pattern and
the amount of value that is associated with that. Simply designing and making

I have noticed, on Pinterest, what language you search for things has a
huge impact on how many and what quality you get. It is possible that
entire markets were wiped out, but we may not be feeling it in our own.
As someone who designs, it is very, very sad. It is not the money that

Dear Carrie,
I am glad you have gotten your life back. It is sad that Lace Express is
discontuing publication. But, all is not bleak in the lace world in your area.

I did read Antje's blog at the time but I wonder if the patterns on

Unfortunately Julie, there is not much lace on display in Malta and no
dedicated museum, though a few pieces could be found here and there.
