Winifred,
You could always get a new copy of the Version 5 Install program then
and save it to the Download Folder. Previous versions of Legacy can be
downloaded from
http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/helpDownloadVersion5.asp. The proper
full install version is the second choice and is 16.4
The Legacy Home Tab does not have to be the first screen. You have
several choices.
Click on OptionsCustomizeGeneral
Then, in the Program Start-up section, click on the bullet that indicate
which view you want to see when Legacy opens.

When importing a Legacy file back into the master file which of these
options do I choose to have the new individuals RIN / MRIN numbers in
sequence with the master file?
Create a new family file (recommended)
Add the Legacy information to the existing file

Try to keep original

I guess I need to uninstall my old copy of Version 5 before installing the
new download, don't I?
Thank you so much for your help and advice, and so quickly.

I had the same problem, I could not open the Family File, either the sample
or my family file.
I do not know what happened, but it works now. The mystery of gemology!

Yes, I have this problem putting in dates like March
15, 1302. It makes it 1302/03

I've been using the userId for individuals as well as for marriages. I
really like the way the individual UserID works and is displayed on
Family screen and on the Name List. Is there any way to get the userID
showing on the marriage list?
Also how many characters will fit in the userid

If you just start entering characters you will find that the field is 50
characters long.

That is always a good idea. You could be safe installing on top since it
is Legacy 5 on top of Legacy 5.

Hi Noelene,
Yes if you produce an RTF file with Legacy then you have to create
the Index and Table of Contents within Word.
If you didn't create them AFTER you've done your editing, then all or
many of the page numbers would be wrong.
Legacy imbeds the necessary codes into the RTF file if

Cathy,
Thanks for your help. I wasn't aware of the Index Tables

my WP file, once generated as RTF from Legacy, and even if I make
changes, so long as I don't generate the contents and index until
last, they will remain accurate.
