You could probably redefine the note inset in local layout, or you could
use inset-forall to convert a LyX note to e.g. a Greyed Out inset.

Remove abstract title in LyX

2016-08-15 Thread racoon

Hi,

I tried today to remove the abstract title ("Abstract"). Took me quite a
while until I managed to do so in LyX, so I wanted to share the solution.

Basically I used the solution @ http://tex.stackexchange.com/a/24778 and
adjusted it to LyX loading the babel package at the end of the preamble.
So I added the following to the preamble:

\usepackage{abstract}
\AtBeginDocument{\addto{\captionsenglish}{\renewcommand{\abstractname}{}}}
% clear the title with LyX-babel fix

I guess one has to replace "english" by whatever language one uses.

Make all LyX notes visible on PDF

Hi,

Is there a way to make all my LyX notes visible as notes (or so) on the PDF?

Thanks! That explains it. I guess I will get used to it. Maybe I will
move the toolbar to the side now.

By the way, I am using 2.2.1. It actually seems to behave already there
that way...

Maybe yes, I do not remember what I backported to 2.2.1.

FYI your bug is that LyX has three states {on,off, auto} for toolbars but
only proposes on and auto in the interface. See
http://www.lyx.org/trac/ticket/6364

I don't follow. Maybe by interface you mean the representation in the
menu. But there are three states, or?

1. checkmark without auto
2. no checkmark without auto
3. checkmark or no checkmark with auto

But since for me the toolbar automatically disappears when there are no
changes left in the document and track changes is disabled, it seems to
be set to the "new" auto-review state.

Do we talk about the same issue here?

I am not very sure if I understand what you mean.
You may try this:

Put the cursor on the page in question at the point you want
to insert the image,
Then > Insert > Graphics the LyX Graphics Menu lets you
browse for the image to be inserted,
Fill in the scale percentage you think should fit nicely
(e.g. 45%) and confirm

You can later adjust the size by right-klicking on the image
then left-klick Settings and rescale.

Hope that helps,
Michael

Please, always cc to the list!
Could the image be too large to fit onto that respective page?
Works here in KOMA-Script Book and should equally well work in any
other document (KOMA-) class
Michael

PS: what exactly do you mean by a "_chapter_ title page" ?

Hi,

My review toolbar behaves strangely. It does not disappear when I stop
tracking changes even though it is set to auto and in default.ui I have

"review" "auto,review,top".

It is always visible. Setting it to

"review" "auto,math,top"

Makes it toggle automatically with math. But I can't get it to toggle
with track changes. I remember that the behavior started after I moved
the toolbar to the left of the work area.

Is there a way to reset the toolbar somehow? Deleting the line does not
seem to do the trick.

'\textcopyright' just work as before.

How can one identify which symbols from the comprehensive list of
latex symbols do / do not work in Lyx 2.2.0 ?

If this is in ERT, then the issue is with LaTeX. You may need to load
some package manually that was, for some reason, being loaded
automatically in 2.1.x.

Richard

Richard,
it is as you said, but not only applies to symbols in ERT but in other
cases in ordinary text as well.

I had to add to the preamble:

\usepackage{bbding}

\usepackage{phaistos}

\usepackage{hieroglf} to satisfy my needs.

What I must conclude now is that there is no consistent rule in using
symbols from Scott Pakin's 'The Comprehensive LaTeX Symbol List' (Nov.
2015).
And this is not at all surprising when looking at the huge amount of
14032 symbols listed there, just good to know!

Thanks to all who invest their time to make working with Lyx easier!
