Just an FYI about general New York Beach Access, I believe the high water
mark (high tide line) is the demarcation used to separate public and
private beach property. Meaning if you walk on the wet sand that is
covered by water half of the day, you are OK. There was even a ruling in

Pleased to see & hear four different grasshopper sparrows this morning
singing atop the landfill grasslands at Croton Point just after dawn, along
with four singing male bobolinks. Vimeo video of one grasshopper sparrow:

After my earlier post I ran into Dan I. who had what was apparently the same
bird at the south end at 7am. He got a much closer pic, which Andrew just
helped me ID as a Wilson's.
Not sure if it's still around. It had left the overlook while my group was
still there, and was not at the south
