To see if you have the windows sound scheme selected go to control panel and find sounds and audio devices. Go to the sounds page and there is a combo box where you can select the different sound schemes for your computer. It should say windows default. If it doesn’t, just press the up or down

Yes. The digital output produces better audio quality by transferring the bits (all music on a computer is broken down into bits (as is all tother information)). If you want to use the digital output you would need to purchase a digital to audio converter. I am not sure if any of the Sblive

Tom, It appears you landed in the right area of the control panel, followed by the sounds manager. As Rebecca suggested, once you land in that tree view, arrow either up or down until you hear Windows default. I think that's the right term, and it's the one Rebecca mentioned. Once you have that

Hi Gary: Thanks for the response; as you'll see during the thread, I've tried what Rebecca has suggested (provided I understood the instructions correctly) it hasn't helped as I'm still not getting any Windows sounds: email sounder, start-up and shutdown..etc! Hopefully there's an easy fix
