Streaming to the "GGMM E-2 Portable Speaker via Android Phone?
Hello, Well I just got my new GGMM E-2 Portable Speaker with Alexa yesterday, and I'm pretty impressed. I really love the built-in Alexa functionality. The only problem is that I have to keep the speaker in WiFi mode to use it. Is there any way I can stream spoken notifications from my Android Nexus 5x phone to the speaker, and also be able to use the Alexa feature too? Any other tips you can give for getting more out of this little GIANT would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Need Suggestions for an Immerse Experience with Audio Games on Windows 10.
Hello, I'm looking for a nice hardware setup to use with my Windows 10 laptop for playing audio games. Meaning once I put the headphones on my ears and start the game... I'm thoroughly <https://www.google.com/search?q=immersive=1=X=0ahUKEwjloPu_xbDUAhWDHD4KHZhCDVEQBQglKAA>immersed in that world. I want to be able to hear the various sounds in a sort of 3D environment. Also would like a joystick or game pad that works well with most audio games. What kind of equipment do I need to purchase to make this a reality? I have a high-end laptop with 2.0 and 3.0 USB connections running Windows 10 Creator. My screen reader is the latest build of JAWS v18. The sound card sucks of course, but if I need to buy a better one that has USB connectivity to make this work, so be it. Any ideas? -Kenny

Brian, I'm using the latest build of JAWS v18 under Windows 10. Using Google Chrome every single form field label is spoken to me as I [Tab] through it. Dean, without a doubt the very best one on-line is the Blind Mice Mega Mall. Very rare I find it necessary to donate to a site for the service they freely offer the visually impaired community, but this site deserves our full unbridled financial support. Just to give you an idea of the great content they provide! I thoroughly enjoyed the critically acclaimed 2017 film "Get Out" (100% Rotten Tomatoes rating) the other day thanks to this site offering it free in Described audio format. I'm in the mist of checking out all the Star Wars films for the first time in chronological order. I've also became a huge fan of popular TV shows like The Game of Thrones, Criminal Minds, Homeland and Blue Bloods thanks to this site. They list all past seasons (And new one's once the season has concluded) in DV format. So much nicer to follow these TV series now thanks to important scenes being described. Absolutely fantastic work. Here's the link: https://www.blindmicemegamall.com I implore anyone who has benefited from the DV offerings on this site to please support them by donating a few dollars or buying some merchandise from the various specialty stores they're affiliated with. They definitely deserve it. So my top 4 sites for DV content: 1. Blind Mice Mega Mall. 2. The Listen Factor. 3. Blindy.TV 4. I'm using VLC media player Version 2,2,5,1 . I see no reference to "Random" under the Playback menu? And I would like to be able to move tracks up and down in the playlist according to what order I wish to hear them played in. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but none of the buttons as I'm using the [Tab] key to navigate the main Window have text labels associated with them? Do I need to alter some settings? How Do You Manage Playlist in VLC?
Hello, I'm liking the speed in which the VLC Media Player plays audio files. Doesn't seem to be an easy way to manage a Playlist though. Also doesn't seem to be an easy way to tell the program to "Shuffle" tracks during playback. Can someone hear tell me is this program accessible enough to perform simple playlist tasks using JAWS? Most of the buttons are not it seems.

Re: How Does 20th Century Radio Upscale their OTR Shows?
Sounds well beyond my brain capacity. I just like hearing how Richard Diamond sounds so different when the files are encoded this way. Does destroy the nostalgia feel though. What program is used to create such an effect. Just would like to play with a few files to see how different the main characters sound in stereo. At 10:46 PM 5/15/2017, you wrote: Although the effect sounds great initially, it's really not good to do this to files. Most I've heard like this actually introduce a fraction of a second delay between channels to achieve this effect. If you get a file like this and want to fix it, you can just pan one channel to the center while muting the other. I've heard the term stereoize to describe what you're hearing, and I try to fix this whenever I come across a file like this. If you simply convert one of these files to mono without muting one of the channels, then the file has a weird sound quality to it because of the channel delay being pressed into one channel. Re: First impressions of the Alexa calling feature
Very nice review by you. I'll definitely keep this email for future reference if I do decide to buy this item. At 03:03 PM 5/11/2017, you wrote: Here are my First impressions of the new Alexa calling feature using the IOS Alexa app! The setup was pretty straight forward. You are asked to sign into the app and enter your credentials and proceed to the setup. you will need to supply the phone number you will be using to receive and make calls on your mobile phone whether it be android or IOS. When you continue you are sent a verification code to your mobile phone. once you are verified, you will here a chime on your Alexa device, and you are taken to a screen where you import your contacts, allow Alexa to use the microphone and so on. Once this is all done, you are given a brief explanation of how to insert contacts to make calls and send messages, and so forth. Making calls from the Alexa devices is quite easy to do. You say, Elexa call so and so. As long as the person in your contacts has the Alexa app on there phone, Alexa will make the call for you. Anyone can download the app and enable the calling feature. I would think they had better have an Amazon account though! Making calls from the Alexa app itself is another matter. You search for a contact in your address book and tap it to make your call. If the person doesnât answer, you donât hear anything at all. You canât power down the phone or anything. you donât have voiceover to end the call. The only way I got voiceover back was to call myself with one of my Alexa devices. The phone vibrated and eventually I heard the Amazon ringtone and I could answer or decline my call. I think I will stick to using the Elexa devices to make calls. When I called my self, the audio was quite clear. I then told my device at hand to hang up. it did and my phone when back to normal. I guess the other party you are talking to will have to end the calls, because there is no way to find the end call icon if you are totally blind because you have no voiceover. I think the Alexa calling and message feature has potential, and I am waiting for some blind individual to buy the Echo show when it comes out and let all of us know how accessible it is. If you call yourself for testing purposes, make sure the volume on the device is turned down low, or you will have ear splitting feedback. The calls donât show up in your IOS calls either.
Re: Victor Reader Stream 2nd Generation
Well I can understand your point. Price is an issue when it comes to the VRS 2. I'm just glad it has been around for my own personal entertainment needs. I keep it plugged up and on 24/7 wired up to my trusty Magic Box II mini speaker via the 3.5 jack. Hasn't let me down yet. If another audio player does hit the market that offers similar accessibility functionality that rivals the VRS 2. And it has Bluetooth capability, 32 - 64 GB of internal storage and provides propriotory apps to use some parts of Twitter and Facebook I would pay a small fortune for it! Hopefully Humanware or another company will improve on the VRS 2 in the very near future. Re: Victor Reader Stream 2nd Generation
WOW! I've owned a VRS 2nd gen for over 4 years and it's my most used piece of equipment in my home. Having my favorite OTR stations bookmarked as Favorites along with several other Live audio streams like CNN, this thing is en valuable to me. Listen to my local newspaper and favorite print publications via NFB Newsline every single day on my VRS. Nothing like having the Samantha voice read to you aloud the morning news or something from Reader's Digest, Popular Science or WebMD the Magazine. Have download some nice ebooks from my Bookshare account to my VRS so Samantha can read me a nice bedtime story every night. I have my VRS plugged via 3.5" jack directly into my MagicBox mini Bluetooth speaker and it sounds great. If I carry it around, I have some headphones plugged up in it and it sound still great. Rarely do I listen to it with the internal speaker. Even have downloaded some DV (Described Video) content to a 256 GB SD card inserted to my VRS to have even more entertainment at my fingertips 24/7. With the recent v4.83 upgrade, the automatic clock sync works fantastic now. My Stream humgs like a fine tuned car. The sluggishness you experienced with it maybe more related to your network, not the VRS? The only 2 things I would want to change is to give it Bluetooth connectivity and more internal storage. Other than that it's my favorite hardware audio player. At 08:32 PM 5/1/2017, you wrote: Actually I've decided to rid myself of the VR Stream - even though I've had it for only 24 hours. I just bought one of these units and would like to make comment on my purchase. Firstly I think that the unit does a brilliant job for what it is in most respects. The sound from the internal speaker is a little muffled however - having already heard a VR Stream - I was already prepared for this, a bit of an annoyance one might say so to overcome this I use a small BUniden hand-held amplified battery speaker I've had for years, cost me $25 about 7 years ago, pity the Stream doesn't have Bluetooth but I guess a product can't have everythint. Now I don't know whether this is my unit in particular but I have noticed that the downloading of data seems to be incredibly slow compared to other devices I have on my network, I used the "Check for Updates" function and - according to that - the firmware is up to date, well at least the data does get downloaded I guess. There's a hell of a lot of functionality packed into the VR Stream box and a lot of this - such as the Internet Radio, podcasts and so forth - I won't bother using - given I already have better solutions for that sort of thing - but for those who don't the VR Stream provides a great entry level to the world of Internet Radio and Podcasting. Getting online with the Vision Australia library was a snap so I downlaoded a couple of books. Again, I have other Apps and so forth which I prefer to use myself but the Stream is convenient for reading, no doubt about
Re: Removing Meta Information From Sound Files
I think you need the excellent MP3 Tag software found here: http://www.mp3tag.de/en/index.html It can not only remove all those Meta tags for you, but it can help you find the right one's to replace them easily. Next to Winrar, this is the most used program on my Windows 10 PC. 100% accessible to JAWS and very very easy to use. Make sure to checkout the forums if you do encounter any problems. At 02:29 PM 5/2/2017, you wrote: Can someone point me to any software package that can remove all meta information from sound files. so that I can make that information match what is in the song title? RE: VRS & Internet Radio
The VRS has a robust library of radio streams you can search through quite easily. I simply save them as Favorites. I do hope one day they can add paid services like TuneIn and Spotify to the services which can be programmed in the VRS. -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Colin Phelan Sent: Wednesday, October 26, 2016 1:07 PM To: pc-audio@pc-audio.org Subject: VRS & Internet Radio Hi Guys, Seeing that many of you appear to be VRS users. I was initially told the internet radio on the VRS was simple to use and had 35 pre sets. A couple of folk then said stick with your I phone for internet radio Peoples views would be appreciated. My main criteria is stable streaming, as an example my I phone cuts out much more often than my static Roberts internet radio. Where do we think the technology in the VRS sits Thanks Colin

There's no such thing as a perfect SD card. The point? Is that there will be lemons so to speak regardless of the manufacturer, name etc. the second gen Victor will handle any SDXC card thrown at it regarding capacity. The highest I've heard used to date is the 512GB PNY SDXC which last I checked was at $190.99. there are a decent amount though using the 256GB SDXC PNY card as well. I myself am only using a 128GB card and haven't filled that up yet, but I am not one who hangs on to books etc. like most seem to. So the size is entirely up to your individual budget or lack there of. I myself would go with the PNY cards and choose whatever size fitting your comfort level with the cost. Amazon is a great place to go and look/purchase. -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Kenny Sent: Wednesday, October 26, 2016 3:40 AM To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' Subject: Recommendations for a Large Capacity SD Card for my VRS? How Do I Configure SpotiAmp to Display Song Title and Artist?
Anyone here using the very nice and compact SpotiAmp program instead of the bloated Spotify desktop app? You must have a premium account to use it but I love how accessible it is. None of the clunkiness associated with the v.136 release of the actual Spotify program. If you are using Spotiamp, how can you get it to display the currently playing song Artist and Title in the main window Title bar? When using the JAWSS read Title shortcut ([Insert]+[t]) I only hear the text "Spotiamp" and that's it. That's the only thing I don't like about it. I have no idea of what song is playing when using a public playlist to discover new tunes I may want to buy off Amazon.com. Any ideas on what I can do here?
