That's $240 per team, not per person -- which, I think, would be
exorbitant.

Thanks, Cotty. I credit intuitive serendipity, or serendipitous

That is a truly wonderful photo ... the kind of photo I learn from.
If I had been in your shoes, in all likelihood, I would've tried to zoom
in on the rainbow and missed the real power of the image -- particularly
the up-swept look of the clouds.
Very nice shot. Thanks for sharing it.

Many thanks, Brian!
I really had to tease the shadows out of the original, but I completely
agree. Without them, the picture is nothing, really.
I'll take a rain check on the insult.
Best,

Having tinkered with the photo of the bridge and salvaged it through
B/W conversion, I figured I'd try my hand at a couple of older images I
wasn't crazy about, but couldn't bring myself to delete.
The first is a late 70's model Lincoln Continental I shot with my first
DSLR (Olympus E-20n):
I live in an area that was last hit by a serious quake in 1812 -- a
series of three over the course of four months, estimated to be around

been saying we're overdue for about 50 years now ... not the most

Wow! I'm not sure Red is the proper word, here. Very nice. The

Thanks, Paul. I really do need to work on my B/W eye. I've mostly
used it as a fallback position when a color shot just refuses to turn
out like like I want it. Which is strange, considering I've always felt
more drawn to B/W images when they're well done. I guess it just takes

I have to say, when I saw the subject line, and then looked at your
email address --which looked like caligula -- I wasn't sure I should look.
That aside, it is a wonderful shot. It's certainly a smile-maker.

Thanks, Christine. Much appreciated.
I had to tinker with it quite a bit to make it OK to my eye. The sky
was extremely clear that day, and as you can see from the direction of
the shadows, the sun was pretty high in the sky. I had to really tone
down the highlight to give it any kind of
Hi all,
Yesterday, while having a lovely beverage at my favorite local
dispensary, I saw a gentleman wearing what looked to me like an
excellent camera bag -- only he was using it for diapers, bottles,
wipes, etc. for the baby he was carrying. It was an over-the-shoulder
type sling bag
Inasmuch as I don't typically run into the Cali Cartel or other such
ruffians while birding, or shooting the rural landscape of western
Kentucky, I figure I could get away with carrying my equipment in a
shopping cart, but for the jarring and lack of protection against the
elements. I
Well, hey -- using one to carry photo equipment would only be the
latest in a long line of heresies for me, such as: drinking beer from a
tumbler, putting trash in grocery bags, using a BBQ lighter to set off
fireworks, and eating ice cream with a demitasse spoon.
I figure it would work
