Re: My attempt at car photography!
+1. Cotty stole my thoughts! :) But when I was taking this, related photo, if I had used a polarizer, I am not sure if my car (the white one) would have shown up: http://42graphy.org/misc/Car_IR32941.jpg (or maybe it would've been enhanced... it depends on the polarization...) :-) Igor Chris Mitchell Fri, 24 Mar 2017 07:27:01 -0700 wrote: Thanks Cotty. In this day and age when everything can be done in Photoshop, and to a similar extent in video editing and SFX software, I tend not to use any filters - except for one, and only for video. I have a 4X4 polariser for the video camera - cost me a couple of hundred quid about 10 years ago - and it works beautifully on windows, water, anything like that especially out in the sunlight. Of course being TV gear, you cant just have the polarising filter, you've got to a have a matte box that *accepts* 4X4 filters ***and*** has a rotating holder - so of course that's another thousand quid!! The advantage it has is that it comes with a huge detachable French flag that really helps in low sun and keeping rain off. -- Cheers, Cotty ___/\__Broadcast, Corporate, || (O) |Web Video Production -- _ -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Thanks Alan. And it is a nice car - he's still got it. It was scanned on an Epson V600. I see from the other thread that you're doing battle with a copy setup. I've tried various alternatives to scanning, including a slide copier and photographing on a light box using a macro lens, and can't get better than the V600. Re: My attempt at car photography!
My comments are based on personal preference. And my personal preference is based partly on what publications want. Some photographers do like the wide angle look, but I’ve never been a fan. Here, if you had rotated the car, you would probably have had to deal with your shadow to get the right framing. That’s another argument or long lens photography!
