Hi everybody,
just wanted to inform you that all mails to hotmail subscribers
of QL News bounced back yesterday and today.
Don't know if Hotmail has a technical problem or if they
block J-M-S as a revenge that I reject their mail
(mainly spam, like yahoo, sorry to say that).
If it is a tech
Hi Darren,
Eurocheques DID work in the past - the receiver paid nothing,
the sender 1.75% of the cheque's value. This is how the rule
was and this is how it worked in Germany.
Then a few countries decided to drop out (like the UK) and this
is when Roy and I started to have problems with these
I won't have a chance (probably) to correct until Tuesday late.
Oddly considering I am so tired, and not to bed until 02:300 I woke nice
and early and not tired.
You see, a long bath in hot yellow water can do wonders :)

... just sent me another text message that he might be longer
than expected offline: Tesco + BT blaming each other.

Hi everybody,
I do not want to use this list for heavy advertising, so just some quick
news:
A patch for text87plus4 is now available which allows you to run text87
in high-colour mode on QXL and QPC. It does NOT work on other systems (yet?)
I have sent full details to the subscribers of the QL
Certainly would.
Jochen gets free 48k or so internet access via his mobile.
Only in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, UK, Ireland, Hungary etc.
but unfortunately not in NL, B or F (and not in the USA either).

The cable works ok between qpti - qpti.
Character by Character or under heavy load (e.g. ZMODEM)?
The handshake needs to be working.
How many serial ports do you have in the Q40? 2 or 4?
I suggest you write a little BASIC routine which
transfers masses of data simultaneously both directions
and
Regarding the QL Today comments:
I am very dedicated as long as our readers are.
Readers will have noticed that there was never a missing or unplanned
late (or early!) issue. If issue release dates were shifted by a week
backwards or forwards, then there was always a reason like having it
I agree this would be nice - I have mentioned it previously, but we seem
to be barking up the wrong tree to some extent when it comes to using
Windows only printers. A filter between QPC2 and the Windows printer
driver is really not of any use to the general QL public, as it will not
work
Prove me wrong but most of the documents would be a listing here and
a small letter there. These can be printed without a problem using the
small driver utilities we have for HP and Epson.
Sorry - they cannot be printed with the small driver utilities which we
have, unless you have
Hi Jérôme,
Side-question: is the text87 patch available for Q40 ? (I read about it
for QPC). I'm lacking text87 in 1024x512 so far...
(And at which price... )
I don't know how many inquiries have been passed on to Marcel
and at which level he decides to invest more time...
I guess that non-QPC
OK, I don't know much about Epson printers, I admit, but as to HP
printers, they
all _still_ understand direct (HPPCL-) commands and you can print plain
text to
them without a problem from the QL.
I just checked the (German) HP homepage. I have not found
a single printer where the technical
This is only part of the story. There is also a general move by the
computer industry to have fewer interfaces and, by extension, fewer
drivers on a system. USB II is much faster than Parallel - actually even
USB 1.1 was. They also want to lose the PS/2 ports and use USB for
keyboard and
The first thing I do is replace every instance of DEV in menu_rext with
ZZZ, thus avoiding this automatic replacement, which I just absolutely don't
want.
I thought that the problems with total memory corruption somehow were
connected to that. I have never seen this on win devices, nor ram
