Has anyone had the occasion to cement a KD-802 box to a piece of styrene, such
as an extension mount. What would the best cement for this, either a Tenax,
ACC, or JBWeld type. Thanks Much.

Dave: If you are using styrene for the extension then I would use MEK.

Since the 802 draftgear is acetal/delrin, none of those. There is supposed to
be a cement which works with them, but I am not sure how strong it would be
over time (and I believe it is more expensive).I think I'd use a mechanical
connection, screwing the draftgear to the styrene if possible.
Hi David --
If you can get your hands on it, Plastruct orange label liquid cement will glue
almost any non slippery plastic to any other by welding the pieces. It won’t
work on nylon, Teflon, or acetyl engineering plastics, but ABS, regular
styrene, Lexan, Plexiglas, and other acrylics are
Dave, Some interesting suggestions for adhesives have been offered but I
always put a small screw in addition to ACC when attaching 802s to extensions,
which I've done a lot. I grind off the tip of the screw if needed. On some

Hi Brian --
These were a stock PRS part, and as such are probably available from Des
Plaines Hobbies. You should check there... I bought a bunch when it was
owned by John Verser and Jerry Porter, and they are the standard roof on my

Another possibility is one of the NMRA famous model railroad PRS cars; some of
those came with Viking roofs, and since they are all unprototypical to begin
with, someone may be willing to swap you one for a standard roof. I know I
swapped one (I think from the Carstens boxcar) to another list
I would think PRS trucks aren't hard to find from any of the regular suppliers:
Hoquat, Port Lines--and I bought a couple pair from Don Heimburger several
years back when I was new to S scale.
