Try moving up the priority of the css rule for your active link.
I believe making
#tabmenu li a.active {

shall work, but I didn't teste it.

Is there a syntax in CSS declarations which 'wraps' classes/ids in a
parent condition? I'm not asking this very clearly
in this case?
Or should I just keep it the way it was, with no dl?
Can I hide the shadow text from screen readers yet not from all other
browsers?
Thank you all,

this reading got me confused,I mightbe gettingit all wrong.
I'm using the frameset doctype, just wanted to do it a better way, or at least understand it.

Well Christian, it is not a search page, is a search engine, you can find its form at the top of this page:
http://www.ocean-wings.com/principal.htm
And the first time I looked at this site I didn't notice that the oval circlesat the animation on the first page were actually links to get in the
, and keeps the navigationexperience of the users untouched.
Although Ido not appreciate frames (probably for not being used to code with them) I must agree with the company, on that they should stay.

I'm designing a site for a friends master thesis on Fisical Chemistry

and I'm far from an expert.
Can any of you offer some guidance on the matter?

The idea is to generate xml both to the site and for exchange purposes.
I could generate both xml and html but that isn't very elegant,
