i'm playing with the shadow frame buffer a bit, and I have a question:
In 24 bit mode, how are the pixels layed out?
my output device is expecting each pixel to be contained in a 32 bit word,
with the most significant byte unused, the next most significant byte
containing the blue, then a red
direction, and the colors
are pretty gray, so I was thinking my assumptions of the pixel layout
are wrong.

I noticed that in xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/drivers/fbdev/fbdev.c,
when it calls xf86SetDepthBpp() it passes in 0 for the depth24flags. does
this mean it is a bad idea to try to force it into a 24bpp mode?
hoping i can just change my XF86Config-4 file to force the fbdevhw driver
to use 24bpp

The microdisplay is a bit wierd in its mode of operation. When you want to
write a pixel value to it, you have to write 32 pixels at a time, on a
32-pixel boundary! (8 32-bit words at a time, on an 8 32-bit
, so I'll have to
go find that code and create my own version of it in my replacement
for shadowUpdatePacked.

Yes, it's the 1.8.2 version. You'll need to use the -ignoreABI option
to the Xserver to test it then, otherwise the Xserver won't allow you to
load it.
