Also, the problem would be much mitigated if people would spend
a LITTLE more time composing replies. Notice that the Subject line
in this message is not the same as the message it's a reply to. This is
easy to do, although it may confuse the "threading" feature of the
apps you mention. A little thought and etiquette go a long way: e.g.,
when I see a message with a subject like

I have a question.

What would happen if.....

Does anyone know?

(etc etc)

I typically hit the Delete key without opening. You could be talking
about the discovery of an amazing solid base catalyst, and I'd never
know. The subject line should give a clear concise description of the
subject, and if you CHANGE the subject, you should also change that
