It might cost you more to scoop up some borax after driving than it would at the grocery. Congrats on the supply.
My pencil lead electrode has held up all day without a problem. The key appears to keep some crystals of the electrolyte on the bottom of the container at all times. Incidentally, I switched to sodium carbonate from the borax since that is used for rust repair. Does your supply have a current setting adjustment? That makes the job a lot easier.
