HI Thomas I was wrong the DVD Drive can read CDs but not DVDs and as I said it Says " pls insert media ." when trying any DVD ( region 1,2,3 all) (CDs do work in my dvd drive with PIO or DMA (BIOS and win set)) (DVD not working in any mode) I formatted my computer and still same problem !! I am afraid the Flashing the drive could really kill it , they are recommending LTN flash 4 liteon (under Win) but it doesn't backup flashware And recommend MTK flash (dos) but may be incompatible with Liteon . But am leaving this as a last resort I also mentioned that I reset the BIOS by removing the battery but some ppl told me to remove battery and ram then run the computer then turn it off and put them back, could be better , but I don't think that DVD REGION + CSS FREE did that much , But am not sure !! The newer Lite-on drives can be flaky. Try cleaning it. Try the drive alone in Master mode. Does this region free program modify the firmware? This may have messed something up with the drive's controller.
