Cindy,

Multiple partitions are a good idea on any drive larger than a Gig or so. I
keep my data files on my other partitions. That way if I do have to
reinstall the OS I do not have to do a files back up before I do it. [I do
keep my fles backed up all over the place anyway. It also helps my organize
my files according to type and makes backing them up much easier.

Yes, you did miss that part. Did you delete the C partition in order to
reinstall XP? Early in the install process you should see a list of the
partitions and have the option to delete the ones you don't want. But check
what is in those partitions, you may want to move the files to C: Trouble is
if you delete them that part of the drive will be unusable. Personally I
would just use those partitions, designate them for your data files or
something like that. I use Partition Magic [Symantic] to do non destructive
partitioning.

That is an odd amount of ram, probably not reporting it correctly. Generally
ram is installed in blocks of [now] 128 Meg. XP will be paintfully slow on
anything less than 256 Meg. 512 Meg is the sweet spot for anything but video
exiting and gamming.
