Hi Iseezero, Does your mother have a firewall installed, aside from the Windows one (Systemworks does not have a firewall). If not there might be a program trying to call home. There are some free Firewalls that can be downloaded, Zone Alarm is one. Also, you can check "internet properties > connections" and from there see if "never dial a connection is checked off. Of course this is assuming that she has dial up. If not you could check Local Area Network (LAN) settings and make sure that nothing is checked off there. With a few more details it would be much easier to help you. Debbie _____

If this did not solve our problem, we were supposed to download Windows Defender and run this to search for spyware. Neither the virusscan nor WD found anything. My mom did all her window updates including Service Pack 2 plus the virusscan plus Windows Defender, and she did not find anything. The computer still does the same thing after all that. Is there anything anyone knows about that can help our situation? > >My mom's computer has Windows Xp and uses Norton Systemworks as a virusscan. > I am wondering if, there is something set to try connecting upon bootup of the computer? What kind of Net connection do you have?
