I know about the hidden recovery partitions, but they have become a moving

them.

Hi Jim:
When I said some new PCs have tons and tons of stuff in them it illustrated
why some OEMs might figure that they are actually helping most people. My
new Toshiba and new Gateway have about thirty or thirty five programs and
drivers in the recovery process and they all install in a hands off string.
If I
install a bare XP, my PCs will work, but my device manager lights up like a
Christmas tree and it takes hours to reinstall everything if done
individually and get rid of the warnings. Some of this stuff I don't even
know what it
does. What's an "Intel driver". Never heard of one. What happens when it's
left off the PC. Can't tell. Was a time when you loaded 5/6 drivers and you
were away. Not anymore.

You either live with it or you do like some of us and create your own
Bootable Recovery DVD set then hide the OEM stuff.

Some people never have an OS failure. I know a guy that is still booting
Win95 and has never had to reinstall it. Some of us create our own grief
because we can't leave stuff alone. We just need to tinker. Bye

Emile
