I removed the hard drive because I gave the rest of the computer away for parts and didn't want to lose my pictures. I got a new computer

I could have saved you the time if you had described why you removed the hard drive from your computer. I suppose a pro might be able to recover the pics, but I can't say nor do I know whether you are willing to pay big bucks to have it done.
