What about electrical interference around the router or your laptop 
area?  How about any cordless phones - it's well documented that 
cordless phones in the house can play havoc with wireless signals.  
Unplug any cordless phones (or other RF devices like game consoles, 
etc.)  in the house and try to reconnect.
