I sort of don't remember the whole thread in detail. But...
Are you certain that the MS update caused the problem with QB? I mean,
did the prob start immediately after installing the update?
If you're not absolutely sure the update is the problem...

It sounds like the QB prob might be a corrupted file. I kinda remember
you said you uninstalled/re-installed QB? Restoring to a previous date
would repair any corrupted system files - so maybe you can try the
updates again and it'll work.

I don't know if you tried running QB in Safe Mode? If it runs ok in
Safe Mode, then the likely culprit is one of your background programs.
If you go to Start, Run, and type MSCONFIG, you'll open the Config
utility. Click on the Startup tab. Each app with a check is always
running in the background. Un-check any unnecessary apps and reboot.
Here's a site to look up what each app does - and if it's necessary to
keep it running. http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php

And from what you describe - that QB crashes while loading your data -
then it could be that your data file(s) are damaged. If you have a
backup, try putting your known good backup files in. Also, try creating
a totally new account, put in some random data just to test it, and see
if it still crashes at the data load.

Good luck,
Donk
