Hi - I'm getting confused. Try this:
Press Control/Alt/Delete and click the Networking tab. If you have
Window 7 I think you need to select "Task Manager" first, and then click
the Networking tab.
You'll see a moving graph. If you aren't actively surfing the web or
downloading anything, the graph should be at or near zero percent.
You'll also see your Link Speed, but this is not really a "true" measure
of what your connection is.
To get a better idea of your actual speed go to this website and run the
speed test:
http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/
This will give you an idea of what your speed is in Mbps (Mega Bits Per
Second). I have a FIOS connection which is rated "up to" 15 Mbps. My
actual speed from the test is currently 12.67 Mbps (downstream).

The figure you first quoted... 300 mbps is (I think) the maximum speed
you could possibly expect from a wireless N router. This isn't
necessarily your internet connection, it is the speed you router is
sending its wifi signal to your pc. Plus, you will never reach that
maximum, it is just the speed that the router is capable of under
absolutely perfect conditions.

So, is your connection so slow that you are having trouble surfing the
web or streaming YouTube, etc.? Or are you just concerned because the
figure isn't 300mbps?
