This is often pointed-to as an example, and in this context I think
it's overrated. The odd/even model really only resonates with people
who are working on their own software development stuff. To the
average non-developer (just about 100% of whom are completely
uninformed about any Linux kernel version numbering stuff), software
projects which have such release schemes boil down to asking (either
to a person or to the release notes) "is this a good one?" "Normal"
people don't really pick it up from the parity of the release
sub-version numbers.
