hello dear prateek sir, ten years back my experience was totally different,
when i was in my relatives home at rural nearby bangalore, when the person
behalf of sensus asked that, anybody handicapped persons are there in your
family? the elder of the family was angrily scolded that whether you are
cursing to my family? immediately i interupted and convinced them. some
people told that, some people dont know how ask these question, some rural
people dont understand why they are collecting the data.

Hi everyone,
Its nice to know the sensus experiences for many of you. If about my
experience about sensus, unfortunately, I can not mark it very
pleasant.
The enumerators have visited my home in my absence and met mom for the
information collection.
They didn’t ask question 9 till the end, so finally mom had to ask
them for this.
Because i've already made mom aware about the question and the whole
issue, I got counted well, but this posed an important question that
what would have happened if it was someone else instead of my mom who
isn’t aware about all this, specially, if in a rural area?
The government has done its work, and a lot of NGOs too have actively
participated in adding the question about disability, while spreading
awareness, or training the enumerators.
In fact, I personally have conducted one such training for the
enumerators here in jaipur, where it was resoundingly
told to the enumerators about the importance of question 9.
I wonder why they are still not cooperating? I hope that the group
which came to my home was the only oblivious one, others might have
been knowing this well.
