Hi Heather, I think you'll find that, as noted by a couple others here, unless it is a conflict of interest, you probably won't find anyone levying restrictions on external work. Legally, I think you'd have problems if you attempted too. If its work totally outside of the scope of the school, and doesn't interfere with their university obligations, there shouldn't be an issue. From the perspective of those schools requiring pre-approval for such work, I'm curious as to how such a policy is enforced.
