Subject: Re: [acupa-l] Governing boards' email correspondence

Here's a resource for higher education records in Arizona:

http://apps.azlibrary.gov/records/general.aspx

Essentially --- it depends upon the type of record --- whether the content is
administrative, fiscal, historical, legal --- etc.....that would dictate the
timeframe for retention ---- so regardless of format -- the electronic message
would have the same retention period as paper or other record format.

Hi,

At the University of New Mexico, the minutes, agendas, and exhibits for our
Board of Regents' meetings are deposited and retained in an online archive, but
we have no formal policy on the retention and disposition of routine Regents'
correspondence, including email communications. I'm interested in knowing
whether other institutions have record retention and disposition policies that
specifically address the routine correspondence, especially email, of Regents
or other governing board members.

Thanks,
Pamina
