Pamina, Similar to Teresa's response, Purdue's retention requirements are based on the content of the record, not the delivery system. Our Electronic Mail policy<http://www.purdue.edu/policies/information-technology/viia1.html> talks about this in the section on Email Retention and Disposal. That policy only covers email sent or received on the university's system, not email exchanged solely on external accounts.
Our Record Retention Schedule<http://www.purdue.edu/business/frehoper/pdf/Records%20Retention%20Schedules/Records%20Retention%20Schedule%20full.pdf> (PDF) outlines the requirements for each type of record. BOT is at the bottom of page 2/top of page 3. I'm interested in knowing whether other institutions have record retention and disposition policies that specifically address the routine correspondence, especially email, of Regents or other governing board members. Thanks, Pamina ___________________________________________ [cid:[email protected]] Pamina M.
