Matrox ran their DigiSuite cards for many years. RT.x100 (I had one of
those too) ended up being a transitionary card, fitting a much needed niche
and bringing realtime DV mpeg2 encoding to the world. But HD came along,
and Matrox took the RT.X100 and made it HDV-capable (now RTX2).

The DigiSuite card was the predecessor to the Axio card (I've now got the
Axio HD card). Axio LE is an 8-bit, one-card version of the Axio HD and is
a very capable product.

Axio is the flagship product and is currently in the beginning of its third
year. Axio will be a long-term product line. It's support software is in
beta for version 3.0, which would be the 5th iteration of Axio
functionality. They're currently debating how, and whether to support 2K/4K
Red cameras, and I have to think they are also thinking deeply about making
a Mac version of Axio hardware...waiting to see how the Adobe Premiere for
Mac does.

With so much going on around you that is 16:9, I would think you would be
excited to move away from RT.x100. Sure it's a few extra bucks, but worth
it.

Poking a little fun here, if you buy Matrox products at the end of their
life cycle, sure, you'll think their life spans are short ;)

I hated it Matrox stop supporting RTX100. Their product life span is really

short. I want to jump to RTX2 now since I'm starting to play with HDV
editing. But I will need to upgrade the editing machine to a full size
tower
case accepting a 13" PCI-x card with at least 500W power supply.
