Lee. Whilst I'd agree with you about separating your drives, I still maintain that the figures speak for themselves. You just cannot get the throughput with external drives in currently available configurations. Obviously if you're not out for the last ounce of speed, then it may well not matter.

You definitely want to use a different drive than the one your operating system is on, but if you are still having performance issues after separating things out, you probably have some other issues with the system.
