Consciousness...just to use your term...is the thing defining itself as a kind of energy rather than a thing.
One can say consciousness is a kind of energy...one can say energy is a kind of consciousness.A loop...unbroken...inseparable...unified...not two...whatever. Outside the form that energy is where is energy? Outside the form that consciousness is where is consciousness? Energy,or consciousness...to use your terms...is all that is seen...ever.And all that is ever seeing.Seeing is a form of energy...or consciousness...or even bozo.
