Our 2003 Ford E-150 has over 390,000 miles. No trans problems, just differential at 200,000, probably from towing. Just did a full tune-up, still runs like a top.

Also, I have a 1995 E150 that I bought for $4000 in 2005. Can’t really complain about a 21 year old vehicle that’s still in service. The trans was rebuilt around 140K miles, the U-joints have been replaced, and it leaks a quart of oil every couple months, but hey, it’s older than some people on this list. It's just a Focus. Complete pieces of shit. One with tons of electrical problems that no dealer can fix. They replaced the entire fuse/relay box and wiring harness for like $4k. Still isn't fixed. Another lost reverse. Had it fixed, then the whole trans went a couple months later. But wait, there's more! Yet another. Tech got assholed by an old lady. Back doors smashed in. Less than a week later, the trans exploded. I'm sure the 4th isn't far behind. Then last year, our 2010 E150 started guzzling oil and tore itself apart. Had to have our mech swap in a new motor. Now, I think GM is horrible, but Ford is nothing but disaster after disaster. Found On Road Dead is very fitting. GM = Gimme More (money to keep fixing our piss poor engineering). The "original" Transit has become the Transit Connect. It's essentially a car with a small van body. Probably an excellent in-town delivery vehicle and gets outstanding mileage. If your needs are relatively modest, it can fit into a lot of situations. The Transit is an E-series van, and comes in short, medium, and tall varieties. It competes with the Mercedes Sprinter and the Dodge ProMaster and the like. bp <part15sbs{at}gmail{dot}com> On 10/4/2016 11:33 AM, Jason McKemie wrote: A transit connect or transit? I can't say anything horrible about it but the guy who drove it always had something bad to say. It was to small, couldn't store enough, so low to the ground it wouldn't go off the highway, etc. Of course now that he has a brand new Dodge Promaster that you could park that transit in it "rides to rough". What a pussy. Anyway, It got really good gas mileage, had a few recalls but nothing earth shattering or more than what seems usual these days. Enterprise fleet, where we get our vehicles, says they tend to have transmission problems around 65k to 70k miles. We didn't experience that and got rid of it at 68k. It got around 26 MPG HWY and my guy kept it loaded down. With the heavy load it never squatted. I will say it does have small tires and is low to the ground. City and highway it was good. I thought it was pretty expensive for what it is. I think I paid $27k or some such. My full size ProMaster was less and gets about 15 MPG. They were pricing them about 25% off MSRP, but I assume you lose the incentives like upfitting allowance, cashback, 0.9% financing that you would get on a new van. They were technically used vehicles since they were titled when the insurance company paid off the dealer whose lot they were sitting on when the hail hit. I also suspect the Carfacts history would affect resale value, since it would show up as an insurance salvage vehicle, people think accident or flood damage.
