1) Yes, creating monitor contributed into AGI a lot too.

2) Technologies that I mentioned above are useful on another level as well:
they can be used as prototypes (or even modules) for AGI parts.

I'm not saying that developing narrow AIs as a way to come closer to
AGI is simple. It's still hard.
It's just not as hard/complex as developing AGI in one giant leap.
