Hi Stevan,

I also have a 73 Berlina with the same starter set up as you and have the exact same starter oddity. So far it has always eventually started, but sometimes does take a few turns of the key with nothing but a click.

Next time I go out to the shop [likely this weekend] I was going to start cleaning everything in the electrical path between the ignition and the starter and see if that had any effect. I'll let you know what happens.

Subject: [alfa] Starter oddity

I have the older giant starter (with brace kit now) that takes the non-stock ring gear for my year. Recently, when turning the key to start, the first one or two times there is nothing but a solenoid click. By the 3rd or 4th time, it usually starts as normal. Sometimes, it's completely normal. What's my troubleshooting repair path on this one? I have a spare starter I can have rebuilt.
