Jon:
Instead of a relatively steady click the unit puts
out a rapid click and the lights no longer flash.
What would cause this?
A rapid click indicates that the flasher unit is overloaded. That could
either happen through a bulb that has failed and shorted internally, or by a
wiring problem (a wire rubs through and shorts to ground) or by an internal
short in the flasher unit itself. If this only happens on one side, look
for a bad bulb. If it happens on both sides, it's probably the flasher
unit.
