Yesterday I experienced a very strange occurrence of loss of power whilst
driving my '73 GTV. I had just accelerated kinda hard, then let up on the
gas as I quickly approached the car in front of me. As the car in front
turned off the road, I tried to accelerate but nothing happened. The engine
did not rev at all but was still running. The low fuel pressure light did
not light up. Even if I floored the pedal, there was just no power.

I pulled over into a parking lot and stopped. The engine was idling when
stopped. I opened the hood, pulled on the plug wires, did not smell gas
(from a spilt SPICA hard line) - just didn't see/hear/smell anything that
would cause the problem. I then tried to rev the engine from under the
hood - it immediately died. I then restarted the car and the power was back
... as if by magick ! It ran perfectly for the trip home - about 20
minutes. It ran perfectly this morning on a run to the auto parts store.

I was thinking that there was a blockage might be in the exhaust but that
wouldn't clear up by itself.

The low pressure fuel light does work for it shines briefly when starting
the car. It has a Wes I. Hi-output SPICA pump. RML ignition module and
Bosch distributor - maybe the RML electronics is going bad and
fails intermittently,

Any other ideas ??

Thanks,
            Bruce
