Colin,

The upper left red light is your low gas pressure warning light. Assuming
you have a Spica fuel pump, you may have tripped the gas inertia switch,
which kills the power to the fuel pump. I have a 79 Spider and my inertia
switch can be found next to the windshield wiper fluid reservoir tank on the
passenger side firewall. Mine looks like pink plastic cylinder with a button
on top, they also come in a square black box format. The switch can be
reset.

Also, check the #1 fuse on the secondary fuse box and the #6 fuse on the
main fuse box - if blown, they also will affect the fuel pump.

Subject: [alfa] 1978 Spider fuel pump issue continued

Just to bring this up to date:
The car has started since the initial failure. What I get now is the low
fuel
pressure indicator light (or at least I get the upper left hand red light)
continuously on (which I've never seen before) and there is NO fuel pump
sound
at all.B
I was, however, able to pull it out of the driveway and get it into the
garage. I don't want to drive it any distance like that, of course, but it
does in fact go.
Is this consistent with a failed fuel pump? Or something else? Does the
supplementary pump in the gas tank provide just enough fuel to allow it to
go?
