I realized it and thought about adding it to the previous
email but was afraid I would articulate it badly and didn't
want to (further) convolute what I was saying.

Yes, I use that feature all the time, in chases where I have
multi-line DLE because of exclude or include statement and
in recently where I started backing up mount points that had
been created when we moved a large file system from UFS to ZFS
and I 'needed' that feature to specify the things correctly.

 for at least some of the DLEs]
