Dear All,

Our aim with the list is to try to connect the numerous people in scotland
work with a multitude of art/tech media and approaches. Ideally this could be
used on a number of different levels...for discourse, for anouncements of
projects and events, plus invitations to participate...as John Butler has just
done - great! Chris and I will throw in "subjects" every couple of weeks for
discussion in an attempt to get the ball rolling but by all means feel free to
add your own. Personally beyond this general sort of aim I do not feel a more
structured agenda should be enforced and would prefer that the list could
develop (or fizzle out, this could obviously also happen) naturally.

I would therefore say what it is and what material we distribute, discuss etc
is up to the list members to get sending and doing. One thing I'd be
interested to discuss is the artists/curators forum in dundee. I know there
were a few people on the list there. It would be good if nilla could send some
more info on, when you get chance about the speakers and the aim of the
conference. I left the conference thinking about how little I have worked with
curators in the past and the same with many of the artists I know. Makes me
think about how important are curators for new media/tech work...what is their
role? Again coming back to John's mail about his upcoming project where he
says he's not really into curating, more having a new media rally...(I keep
picturing scalextric)

Anyway, would be good to hear from folk like illie (currently curator in
residence at nms) and lindsay about the projects they're curating. I know
Lindsay had problems finding some work (like women working with 3D).

All for now...must stop babbling,
Bev
