hi ambit, my name is John Butler and I live and work in Glasgow. Most of my time is spent doing 3d for television and ocassionally i make my own work either for exhibition or broadcast. Last show i did was at manchester science museum for isea 98 but the best one was for the V-Topia show which started at Tramway in 94 (that long ago?) and toured about quite a bit.
In Jan 01 i completed Workgroup Alpha which is a flash animated series for e4.com. Which brings me to my main point. I have booked the CCA glasgow conference room with digital projection facilities for an evening of CORPORATE HOSPITALITY on Nov 27th. The idea is to screen Workgroup Alpha ( approx 30 minutes ) with a data projector and have an informal "salon elecronique" for anyone who is interested in coming along. We did this at the (late) Lux centre in April and it worked really well, partly due to the fact that flash is a vector based format and looks good at hi res, unlike video. Are there any other artists on the list who would like to show sound or vision that evening? I have deliberately chosen the conference room over the cinema as i don't feel this stuff has much in common with film culture, and would make audio work more welcome. Ideally work that is a file/disk/non bulky format would be easy to integrate with what is available on such short notice. I'm not really into curating as such, it's more of a new media rally, if you like. I would like to know if there are any laptop sound people out there, reaktor/reason/maxmsp types as i'm sure i can get a few powerbooks in place. anyone interested? jb ------------------------------------------------- a m b i t : networking media arts in scotland post: [EMAIL PROTECTED] info: send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and write "info ambit" in the message body -------------------------------------------------
