Sheesh!
It isn't AmIRC's fault, or the mailing list, if colours are used, in
fact, I welcome the addition of colours, but I already know I hate
colours, it is nonetheless useful in some circumstances. Its one of
those thing where I loathe it and like it.
If you don't like colours, then get out of that channel or put someone
on ignore/silence. It isn't that hard, or if you have the power,
kick/ban/kill/kline/gline/akill them as you see fit :-) Or as Dan said,
turn it off...
