Dave,
Here is what I use to get my report. The original report would look like
this:
199: Mozilla/4.5[en](Win98;I)
150: Mozilla/4.5[en](Win95;U)
132: Mozilla/4.5[en](WinNT;U)
125: Mozilla/4.5(Macintosh;I;PPC)
112: Mozilla/4.5(Macintosh;I;68K)
 54: Mozilla/4.05[en](X11;U:Linux2.0.32i586)
 25: Mozilla/4.05[en](X11;I;SunOS5.5.1sun4m)

But I want the output to look like:
199: Netscape 4 (Win98)
150: Netscape 4 (Win95)
132: Netscape 4 (WinNT)
125: Netscape 4 (PowerPC)
112: Netscape 4 (Mac 68K)
 54: Netscape 4 (Linux - Intel 586)
 25: Netscape 4 (SunOS - Sun 4m)

So my config file lines would look like this:
BROWALIAS Mozilla/4*(Win98* "Netscape 4 (Win98)"
BROWALIAS Mozilla/4*(Win95* "Netscape 4 (Win95)"
BROWALIAS Mozilla/4*(WinNT* "Netscape 4 (WinNT)"
BROWALIAS Mozilla/4*(X11;*Linux*i586* "Netscape 4 (Linux - Intel 586)"

The trick is to start out with config lines that are the same as the
logfile lines, for example:
BROWALIAS Mozilla/4.0(compatible;MSIE4.0;Windows3.1) "IE4 (Win3.1)"
and then replace the variable portions with *, like:
BROWALIAS Mozilla/4*(compatible;MSIE4*;Windows3.1* "IE4 (Win3.1)"

If you need a full example check out my report page at
http://www.kaycee.net/rpt/web_usage.html I would be glad to post any
config file lines that would be of help.
