Incognito,

I'm really sorry that I have to scatter your hopes for few
submissions. Dan Morrill has the most accurate submission count tool,
but he will not share his information. But luckily some information
leaked :-)

Look at the page "The Android Developer Challenge Judging Process":
http://code.google.com/android/adc_judging.html

This page was added recently, and whoever wrote this knew the number
of submissions up to that point and could estimate the expected total
number of submissions. It states that phase I will select 100
submissions with the highest scores. This pre-selection would not make
any sense if there were less than 100 submissions to be expected, and
also would not be necessary if the number of submissions was only
around 150. Note that phase I already follows a "threshold" phase
where all submissions that do not run are dropped.

The distinction between phase I and phase II (which is nowhere
mentioned in the ADC terms and conditions) is a move that is only
necessary if there are at least a few hundred applications expected
that pass the initial threshold.

It would be very interesting to know the true statistics once the
competition is over :-)
